Amazed this guy lived everybody remember this was a former er doctor doing those horrible compressions. Give me a break they were the worst ones I have seen. Anyways glad it all worked out.
the guy may look like he's taking a breath but the body can look to be breathing even when the heart has stopped just prior to death itself. The key is to look at the chest for movement in addition to listening with your ear to their mouth and also feeling for air with your cheek to their mouth, that way you can be sure if it is actual breathing. If you can't feel or hear air, they're not breathing and CPR should be administered
@sonot80s he was having agonal respirations, ineffective respiration. If a person is not moving , looking horrible, and not breathing effectively to support life you start compressions.
@linz85able Did you notice that I said "good job, nonetheless?" No code ever goes perfectly, and there are always things that everyone (myself included) can improve after working a code.
@Reid107 Yep, just annoys me that a life is saved n ppl still critic n moan about something, life's a little short, though in that case it's been extended thanks to the good work of the ppl who saved him.
Agonal respiration is an abnormal pattern of breathing characterized by shallow, slow (3-4 per minute), irregular inspirations followed by irregular pauses. It may also be characterized by gasping, labored breathing, accompanied by strange vocalizations and myoclonus. Agonal breathing generally progresses to complete apnea and heralds death.Wikipedia
