  • Who is that white haired guy ? He looks like an old version of Draco Malfoy. XD

  • And you destroyed Brazil also, how you're going to fix 60 years of TV endoctrination, military dictatorship, street crime soaring financed by drug money.

  • what would bob marley do???

  • @metalupyourass20 Light up a fathead and sing a song, just like always :) That's exactly why I love him, there was no fooling him from day one :P

  • There is a solution to all violence in America...RAISE the mininum wage to eight to ten dollars an hour...WITHOUT RAISING TAXES OR INTERESTS. But "the powers that be" won't because One: The American people will become MORE INDEPENDENT and have the financial power to CHOOSE their lives instead of being WORKER ANTS, and Two: Violence that stems from "lack" keeps "good citizens" in fear and made to BELIEVE they're powerless against violence so that they will GIVE AWAY their independence and power.

  • Drugs are KEPT illegal so that the cartels can stay in power and ASSIST the "powers that be" to INSTILL and ENSURE FEAR in the public....an emotion that KEEPS us EASILY CONTROLED AND MANIPULATED.

  • @horrorscope71270

And apparently unable to properly use capital letters...

  • PLEASE BILL!!! BRING DAVID SIMON BACK ON YOUR PANEL!!! HE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST PANELIST YOU'VE EVER HAD!

  • I am doing my part here in Texas! homegrown baby, homegrown!

  • @jdetuncq I live in Texas too... REPRESENT!

  • @ksalbrecht88 Leading the way for "Made in America" !!!! Ron Paul 2012!

  • @jdetuncq Right on... I have been a supporter of Ron Paul since 2007 when campaigning began for the 2008 Presidential elections. I have noticed A LOT of support for him this campaign season... the news media doesn't like talking about him though... even when he is going to be a major contender in the 2012 Presidential election.

  • @ksalbrecht88 Won't that just blow their freakin' minds when he wins.....People are waking up, I hope its not too late though. The biggest argument that I always hear is about his views on being an isolationist. The way I see it, he is a strict Constitutionalist first and if its "not" in the Constitution then he wont do it.

  • when and on what channel does this show come on?

  • @dee1271990 hbo

  • I love Bill Maher, but everything with drugs and him comes back to weed, it seems like anyway. I care about more then just weed, dude.

  • Legalizing cannabis is not about promoting its consumption, it's about stop spending so much resource to penalize that victimless "crime".

  • Another failed war LMAO!

  • the thing i want to know is, would legalizing drugs, stop illegal drugs being produced and distributed on mass? and by extension stop the drug war. I'm not so sure it would.

  • @Bhoy2NV Do you see drug smugglers growing grapes for wine production or growing tobacco for cigarettes? No because these are regulated markets & there is no significant comparable profit like there is with the drug market. I believe very much that if drugs were legalized it would hurt the illegal drug market big time. It might take 5-10 years for the cartels to deplete their cash reserves because they do have many BILLIONS of dollars... but they will disorganize & become ineffective over time.

  • @ksalbrecht88 i think that illicit drugs and tobbaco or alcohol are two different entities. Firstly drugs are far more addictive and, how are 'junkies' going to afford a highly taxed product? Secondly legalization has made the two products acceptable to middle class culture, if drugs would be legalized i fear an entire generation will be ruined, irreversably. While I can't sympathize all that much with people who would ruin there lives with drugs i wouldnt want society paying the price.

  • @ksalbrecht88 but really, I do agree that something has to be done to stop the drug wars both in america (a war that cannot be won which will drive america into financial ruin) but also to rid south american gangs of a market because these are countries where the citizens want nothing to do with drugs, yet their lives are ruined cause north americans couldn't care less and would rather enjoy some drugs.

  • @ksalbrecht88 but wont people became more addicting easily?

  • @Bhoy2NV

Of course it would, why buy from a drug dealer when you can just go to a drug store? Drug store would be easier to access, no risk of going to jail, no risk of poorly made, health risk narcotics.

  • @Bhoy2NV if you legalize drugs they wont be illigal so yes it will stop illigal drugs.

  • @eslov lol wut? im not sure if you're trolling, thats like saying that because UFC is legal, then there wont be any assault or battery.

  • Does anybody in our government study the history of prohibition? The war on drugs is the same thing. I am all for legalization, but drugs like meth and crack and detrimental to society. The legalization of a specific drug should be a question of private rights vs. public safety. Opiates and marijuana seem to cause little to no violent crime that isnt due to our war on drugs, but meth and crack are a danger to the public on multiple levels and should be forever banned.

  • The united states creates all these drug cartels by making drugs illegal you could end the problem in mexico if you make drugs legal. You should be smart enough to decide wether you want to take a drug or not instead you want a law to tell you what to do.

  • @lilsm555 Mexico can fix thier probelm making drugs leagle. Thier legal status in the US isn't relevant. We aren't responsable for Mexico's gangs.

  • @monokhem yes we are LOL! Most countries follows our drug laws. Do you know why millions of lbs of marijuana get burned up by costumes every year its because they smuggle drugs from mexico to here and sell them. The Mexican government has no control over the cartels they cant do shit stop them please dude educate your self our drug laws keep cartels going do you not remember your history. Why dont we worry about our own fucking continent instead of the middle east.

  • @lilsm555 It looks like I know a lot more about it than you ,but I'm not going to waste my time teaching you about it. Mexico can stop the drug gangs. I don't need a history lecture from some one that thinks a few criminals are really more powerfull than a nation.

Only Morons type "LOL" to make thier case look stonger. Grow up.

  • @monokhem what are you 10.

  • Comment removed

  • there are very few people in the american public today as smart as david simon

  • Illegal drugs will NEVER be legalized as long as we keep electing Republicrats hell-bent on furthering failed policies. They all say the same thing to win votes and reverse their positions once in office. The question is, when will Americans catch the fuck on?

  • i hate anti-pot ads

  • Seeing as how big business fill cigarettes with deadly chemicals to keep us as loyal customers, I wouldn't put it past them to do the same to weed if it was legalized.

  • the great david simon! thx 4 this!

  • All natural drugs should be legal.

  • 30,000 deaths

  • replacing the drug war

    with 'the war on terrorism

    IS NOT AN IMPROVEMENT

    Bill Maher is selling bullshit

  • :) these videos, comments, and real-life discussions make me realize something. America is finally getting the picture! People everywhere are beginning to understand the truth about marijuana. Before, legalization advocates were viewed as potheads, stoners, druggies, etc. Now, its common sense. It gives me hope for the future that in politics and common sense, America is waking up and, despite what we see on the news (fox *cough cough*) ignorance is losing! :) like if you agree.

  • This IS an excellent discussion. However, I think a big part of the problem comes across in some of the comments about presidential policy.

People in this country need to understand that the president does not write the law. If we want change, we need to elect different Congressman and Senators.

Stop voting for people who say the things you what you want to hear, and start being a thorn in the side of your representatives. Hold THEM accountable. Then you will see the legislation you want.

  • In Russia they are experimenting with Acid induced therapy!

I really hope America/canada follow suit!

  • @NotHenryMarkum

America already is and has been, and the experiments are showing promise.

  • 9:42 amen

  • sad... >2 years since this aired and all the hope they have for progressive change and a government that appears to be intelligent and for the people... the current US gov't is an absolute failure on virtually every progressive front.

  • Marijuana definitely saved my life. I live in Canada. It stabilzed my medical/mental problems 25 years ago. I go to Amsterdam where they have some common sense.

  • Your talking about the USA not doing anything in your country, we don't do anything in our country bra. All we do is protect oil and Israel. Fix your own country bra. No disrespect. The last thing I belief in is our system. I just live here. The only thing we have right is freedom.

  • "Marijuana has fucked up my life! It made me stupid and lazy because of all the chemicals that are more harmful than the chemicals in cigarettes! I'm probably gonna be a bum now for the rest of my life! Keep it illegal because its bad, i don't have proof behind that but it's just bad because i said so!" if that doesn't sound totally insane to you, please die.

  • @TheBonified1 You ruined your life, not Marijuana, no one forced you to smoke it.

  • Sex, drigs, and rock and roll baby!

  • @DJacqu8351 lmfao spelt drugs wrong. I want some of what you're smoking!!!

  • @NotHenryMarkum Spelled spelled wrong! We both must be high:)

  • @DJacqu8351 Haha yours was a simple typing error...mine was just stupidity :p But cheers none the less!

  • @NotHenryMarkum I like your attitude! And cheers to you:)

  • @LegalizeIsrael

its Portugal, and it wasn't legalised it was decriminalised, if you're caugh with a small quantity (you're not trafiquing) your stash is aprehended and you're advised about detox programs.

  • Mexico body count 9,000 death many disappeared , USA gets high talking about it.

  • @WolfEyesatNight More than 30,000 people have died in Mexico as a result of the violence associated with these cartels. These cartels even have the nerve to storm rehab clinics throughout Mexico killing people who are trying to get off drugs because they dont want addicts to get treatment. They put fear into drug addicts so that they keep buying dope. Mexico has been in a state of crisis for a long time now & all the news media does is report about it while the US does nothing to help.

  • @ksalbrecht88

Fact is, USA people think, if you don't live in the USA (America), you deserve what ever is coming to you.

  • @ksalbrecht88 35,000 people. And those are just the official numbers.

  • @ksalbrecht88

Mexico has paid, and it will continue to pay a very high price for being a USA neighbor, Mexico and Cuba are and will continue to be the "ugly ducklings" of North America.

Their sin?... not being EUROPEAN enough.

    to be "Americans".

  • @ksalbrecht88 Why should we help? We need to let other countries sort out their own shit for a change.

  • @ksalbrecht88 It isn't our responsability. It isn't the US' fault mexico doesn't get it together. They are rich in resources. They are a democracy. They can fix thier own problems.

  • @ksalbrecht88 Isnt that there problem? not ours

  • @Kr4zyAc3 NO! The only reason people are dying over there is because the US has implemented laws that created a black market for drugs. Drug smugglers are taking advantage of a lucrative market by supplying the US for their demand for drugs. If drugs were regulated these cartels won't be the ONLY group supplying a no longer dry market gaining BILLIONS of dollars of income annually. If drugs were legalized & regulated... within 10 years the cartels would be snuffed out. I guarantee it!

  • @ksalbrecht88 And I have the solution, lets just blow them all up. Drop a few somethings like the Tsar Bomba and kill them all, that way we get rid of the drug cartels and put all of their victims out of their misery. Plus, we'd get pretty mushroom clouds and the entire world would be scared shitless that's a win for everyone but the cartels.

  • @VetinariClone If your going to make a suggestion on solutions towards the issue of cartels make one that is at least realistic.

  • @ksalbrecht88 why?

  • @VetinariClone What you said will NEVER happen. It isn't worth considering as a real world solution to the issue. What you can suggest are things like maybe the US Government taking more of a forward role in preventing an underground drug market by curbing demand. The only reason these drug cartels are so damn powerful is because the US has implemented drug policies that are more harmful to society that the drugs themselves are. Legalize drugs & let people learn the error of their ways.

  • @ksalbrecht88 No no I know it will never happen, when I asked why, I meant why should I suggest realistic solutions? It's not like any one is ever going to take a suggestion posted on a youtube comments page, I'm just messing around cause I have nothing better to do.

  • @ksalbrecht88 The US set up the cartels. The CIA has more money in cocaine than the Colombians.

  • @Somnusrei While I personally don't have proof of your claims, I wouldn't doubt them to be true. The US Government is more corrupt than a Backdoor Trojan.

  • @WolfEyesatNight Not 9,000, now its up to 50,000 since 2006.

  • @luizgm1972

Thanks, I'm convinced that US, allows illegal activities they can control but .. bring in millions of dollars,

servitude to the government is achieved better with pills.

  • Make your voice heard and vote to Support or Oppose here:

    topix.com/issue/marijuana

  • I completely agree with legalizing marijuana! They should regulate it and tax it the same as alcohol, while selling it at convenience stores etc.

I have a feeling if the government did that it would have almost nothing to do with what the people want and most likely just be another means of getting money for them.

  • The war on drugs is the "Berlin Wall" of the west.

  • @Scorpitarios The Berlin Wall is the Berlin Wall off the west haha

  • let me post

  • The war on drugs is a complete failure. It does not help the problem. In fact it makes it worse. It overcrowds our prisons, causes more violent crime, and creates a black market. Our country spends billions of our tax dollars each year to fight a war that cannot be won. If the government legalized drugs, regulated, and taxed them, we would not only get much needed tax revenue, we would also save a lot of money by not having to pay to keep drug offenders in prison. END THE DRUG WAR NOW!!!

  • @emdaddy19 the thing is people are actually making money off people going to jail for weed crimes..just for possession people go to jail and they make so much money off that that prison owners are pushing for longer sentences on less serious crimes..so theyre getting pretty fucking rich off people doing time for weed..but youre right man the drug war is a total fuck up and they should just let us do whatever we want

  • @emdaddy19 The powers that be knew this from the beginning...prohibition did exactly the same thing with alchohol.

  • Acid? It's fun...till the next day. I always get a bad acid hangover the next day...legs ache like hell. Shrooms tho...shrooms are awesome. The high is not as amped but just a mind altering & no hangover the next day.

  • in my experience, aryan people dont get the spiritual effects

  • we still have the fuckin drug war with more private prisons,

  • the last statement about mistaking capitalism for a social structure was phenomenal!

  • "Not all drug use is abuse"

  • Dan's right. They are just doing a re-branding of the same old drug war. We still have the same business criminals with the same interests. I think the same thing is happening with the term 'libertarian". People think libertarian is something unlike rep's or dem's because it claims "less gov't, more freedom". But when you think about it, it's just saying the same thing republicans are saying. Less gov't, but corporations who own the gov't would still have the free reign they have now.

  • heres the problem, this country is ran by the rich. the war on drugs, benefits them a great deal. they dont care what the little people think/know about it all. we are just $laves to them. aids/drugs/poverty/unemployment/crime/laws, its all beneficial to them.

so...just shut up, watch tv, and do what you're told. theirs only one thing you should be concerned about now, the terrorists taking away all your wonderful american freedoms.

  • I had a close friend who succumbed to breast cancer and marijuana was the one thing that helped her during her horrible sickness. I think pot should be legalized or at the least tolerated.

  • Realize that the lower the dollar slips in value the more they print and the more that's printed, the less it's worth and the less it's worth, the more laws have to be passed to incarcerate more people because the dollar needs the bonds to continue shoring up that perpetually devalued dollar. We need to do away with the money/debt/slavery system or EVERYONE will eventually be in prison. I believe is the goal. They (the elites) know they can't kill 6 Billion people, but they can imprison them.

  • "Capitalism and Democracy are not synonymous, you swallow propaganda like a birth control pill selling your soul to the eye on the back of the dollar bill" -Immortal Technique

  • I'm happy newspapers are dying. Almost all newspapers support the establishment, if you want the truth, look to online

  • too bad the neo-cons run fox news which is brainwashing 48% of the voter population in the united states and as far as gay marriage and weed go in their books it's not good.

  • Being a cynic I think having no more "drug war" is more likely a re-branding of same old policies.

    great video to watch.

  • Great discussion. The Wire is incredible.

  • if some1 has the ability PLEASE give me a job fighting4 weed..please....ill work like hell

  • I want Amy Holmes's ass

  • CALIFORNIA VOTERS, VOTE YES ON 19 THIS NOVEMBER. LET'S MAKE HISTORY! We can and WILL legalize Marijuana

  • LEGALIZE ACID

  • @ToolSoldier462 PROHIBIT STUPIDITY

  • @ksalbrecht88

    BOTH OF THE ABOVE

  • @ksalbrecht88 as well as ignorance

  • @ksalbrecht88 They have done studies using hallucinogens, like DMT and LSD to fight drug addiction...

  • @ksalbrecht88 @ToolSoldier462

    how about both?

  • @ksalbrecht88 Nobody's stupid because of their choices in drug experimentation and use if they can personally accept the consequences of their actions.

  • @Dragar225 Doing something that results in consequence is stupid, especially if you do that certain something knowing that it will result in consequence. That is just an opinion that I am entitled to. No need to argue... if you think otherwise than that is your prerogative.

  • @ksalbrecht88 Stupidy is pretty much the main industry in the USA

  • @ToolSoldier462 Acid? Really? Need to reassess your life goals my friend.

  • @tarunb I agree only shooting for acid is aiming too low. Legalize everything.

  • @tarunb You clearly don't know the first thing about acid. If you're mentally stable prior to the experience, and only use it in moderation, acid is virtually harmless. Psychedelics are among the LEAST addictive substances and do absolutely no physical harm to your body.

  • The CIA makes far too much money from the drug trade for our Government to ever legalize them.

We continually hear how the Taliban profit from Afghanistan poppys...too bad we aren't privy to information concerning the CIA's involvement as well.

  • @Amicus1952 hellyeah the assholes

  • We have no real representation because bribery is legal in Congress and we just dont have the cash. Obama looks like he is going to betray every one of his words. Stupid fucking liberal democrats, stupid fucking Christian conservatives. Using gang rape as a result of not cooperating with a "Drug Court" is a war crime. Every criminal prosecutor and judge in this country should swing from the Tyburn Tree for this sicko shit!

  • "The guy who did the most damage in terms of making whole new categories of the drug law that have resulted in this incredible expansion of the prison population, is Clinton." And that's because Democrats pretend to be for more freedom, but their actions show that they are just as fascist as republicans. As long as we continue to trust ANY of these people with this countries decisions, nothing will get any better.

  • Did this fool just say he smoked weed and didn't get high but got the munchies? LOL!

  • @funknotik I know, my first reaction was bull f@#$ing shit, then again weed being a mind-expanding drug, maybe conservatives are conservative specifically because they are incapable (biologically or otherwise) of expanding their minds

  • "the wire" really is one of the greatest works in television history

  • This is a issue that defines politicians, either you are with us or against us, either you want us to be free and have weed or you want a outdated nazi policy on drugs.

    Legalize

    End the war

    End the Fed

    Protect Civil liberties

    Repeal the patriot act

  • Well said my friend, well said indeed!

  • Now to get that on billboards across America...yes...I can see it now........

  • @FromyColdeadHands The Fed doesn't have anything to do with the War on Drugs. The Fed makes sure we don't get inflation and burn money for fuel or deflation that spirals into a depression. You can't have a modern state and economy without a central bank.

  • @SketchyBack lol..that is the opposite of what most of the founding fathers believed.. before the FED the US had 2 central banks both chartered for 20 yrs and caused depressions as did the FED ..u need to get educated and stop believing the propaganda of the FED propaganda..the US government use to issue the money..research the FED and how it came to be

  • @xadam2dudex Actually neither bank was considered a central bank. The founding fathers didn't want a centralized banking system because of the finger such a system has on the fragile pulse of the economy. The Federal Reserve isn't even a government office; It's a privately owned corporation.

  • @bigbengamer the First and the Second Bank of the United States ( both chartered for 20yrs ) may not have been the ONLY bank but was seen as the central bank of the US...it controlled almost a 1/4 of the banking with state banks having the remainder of the bank note authority..the FED is a private corporation with a nominal veneer of governmental control..the owners of the FED isn't known they operations are secret and they do not have to report their activities to the government

  • @xadam2dudex I've taken courses on the Fed - it's an essential part of any modern state... The founding fathers also owned slaves and thought only males with property had the right to vote - they were progressive for their day, but are hardly a relevant authority today.

  • @SketchyBack apparently u took classes from people who were ignorant to the evil of the FED.. there is no need for a private bank running the monetary system of the US.. it is nothing more than a method by which the bankers have taken control of the US economy ..it is a monopoly ...the Treasury dept can do everything the FED does and it can do it without incurring interest debt.. that is all the FED is a means by which the banks suck massive interest income out of the economy.. a scam

  • @FromyColdeadHands The Fed isn't the enemy, stupid.

  • @SketchyBack Are you serious? What kind of comment is that? The Feds are the ones basing laws off a so called perfect world instead of coming to a realization that drugs are a part of society & that the current drug policies are doing exactly the opposite of the intended goal. Drugs aren't going away, in fact they are more abundantly available, in higher purities & at cheaper prices than they were when prohibition began. THE FEDS ARE THE FUCKIN ENEMY! Who is the stupid one now?

  • @SketchyBack

Dr. Ron Paul cured my apathy!

  • the guy in black with no hair.. what he said about pre-internet news was shocking. and it is true also, look at what news on cnn or fox etc. is today.

  • yes it is... thats the genius david simon, creator of the greatest show ever The Wire...check it out

  • well ...

the best thing about this show is , in my opinion , that the guests sometimes disagree and ...

still behave in a NORMAL way , like adults should ... listen to one another ... GOOD !

    AND it´s still a show , I know !

    Brgds

    GSO

  • The speaking louder than your opponent who's beating you thing is pretty annoying. One of the many reasons why Fox sucks so badly.

  • i love weed. im smokin resin in the GREAT LIBERAL USA!

  • there is something to be said about that last issue being raised. Capitalism, as well as, other social structures are viable constructs that if administered with integrity, honesty and a reasonable level of transparency can be of benefit to society. Yet, the very destructive & dysfunctional element that is always impeding a good system is human behaviour. Behaviour does not evolve altruistic tendencies. It simply sharpens itself to consume & take, with efficiency, much more than its fair share.

  • I kind of hated where this ended. I was really getting into the newspaper disfunction part.

  • My thoughts exactly!
