This professor is dead on with her analysis of the white/black vote in Alabama. In 2008 Obama got only 11% of the white vote in Alabama-wow that is extremely low!!!
She makes a good point about apathy and the government not being truely involved in making people's livees better. We need to make people care and moreover make the candidates care more about the people and remember why they got into politics in the first place.
stanleymaiden: Why are we treating politics like it's some stupid football game? There's good and bad in ALL groups. Ignorant stereotyping, which you just did, is for the intellectually challenged. Before the sour grapers of the past 2 elections, people were allowed to vote for whoever they wanted without arrogant idiots proclaiming their mental superiority. Get over yourself.
I will always be PROUD to be an American. Canada??? I have tons of friends and relatives there and they tell me about all the TONS OF CRAP that goes on there too. ALL countries have their own major PROBLEMS. Get over it!
People, people, people! This dude is a wimp! All his "ideas" are so general and abstract. He's Oprah's and Hollywood's puppet, along with all the big-bucks supporters who want to SHOVE their agendas down our throats! Plus, he wants SHAMNESTY! He's counting on the votes of the illegal aliens. Eleven states have issued driver's licenses to them. That's all you need to vote. Why else do you think he's FOR THEM????
She makes a very valid point about people voting for people they like vs. people they agree with on their policies, etc. It's one of the biggest flaws with our voters.

So you can find a college professor in Alabama but you cant stop in at VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY in Tennessee? WTF? All we got from you was a bunch of closed minded Christians from Lynchburg! Thanks for making us look like a bunch of hicks again, ya fuckers!
I don't know why I should respond to your name calling but here goes -- I'm one guy on the road with a camera, give me a fucking break. You want an interview from VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY, why don't you go film one? I was lucky to have a contact hook me up with this interview in Alabama. FYI, I do have an interview with some very smart, educated Nashville Republicans that is not yet posted.
Once again I say, if you don't like it, go do it yourself. This is YouTube, you can do that.
When I made my comment I was concerned with the perception you give to the "outside world" about Tennesseans. I understand that what you are doing isnt an easy task, but from my perspective all I ever see in the national media is biased toward the type of ignorant people you interviewed. Being pigeonholed with "those" people gets old, hence my frustration!
1DRock37167: You mentioned, "Close-minded Christians"?
It's ignorant, sweeping generalizations like this that demonstrate how extremely INTOLERANT and NARROW-MINDED you truly are. Get your mind out of that TINY BOX!!
Did you even see the clip I was talking about? By not considering anyone but Huckabee based solely on the fact that he is the candidate that would bring "God into the white house".
I feel justified in saying that they were "close minded Christians" because they didnt take any other factor into their choice for president. How very Christian of you to so eloquently point out how intolerant and narrow-minded I am, you should check whith your pastor on that one!
It's amazing how much anti-religious bigotry there is in America. Anyone else is given a free pass to choose a candidate based on ANYTHING they want, whether it's based on one factor or a hundred different factors. What business is it of yours or anyone else's HOW Christians decide on their candidate of choice? Also, what's the difference between Christians who choose that as a factor and those who would vote AGAINST Huckabee ONLY BECAUSE he's a Christian?
Being that I live 75 miles from Lynchburg and their votes help elect MY representatives to the US govt it IS my business how they vote.
There is no difference between the two, people who vote only on one factor are ignorant and close minded. Our current administration rode in to office on the backs of the single issue Christian voter and we got stuck with a ballooning deficit and war that we cant win and no one wanted. Religion is private and personal, it has no place in the US government!
As for the lack of Republican excitement I disagree. Birmingham is covered in Ron Paul signs and bumper stickers. The other day I was going down the interstate and saw a plane with a giant Ron Paul banner. I would say that there is a great deal of excitement for him here.
csfoster2 I've traveled around the country and it's the same way all over the place. There's Ron Paul signs everywhere and I swear McCain support is a myth. I just don't see how he really won those primaries.
Yeah, 'cause the two people supporting Paul has been littering B'ham with his fliers. I am a college student, and most of the students think he's a joke.

This may be the reason why it's called a Ron Paul revolution. Those who support him not only like him but also agree with his views.
