  • RICHARD DAWSON WAS OOOBER HOT !! AND WHAT A CLASS ACT HE WAS/IS.

  • Newlywed GAME had just ended it's 8 year run a week prior on ABC

  • I've noticed when watching the shows when Nipsey Russell is on the guest panel, he pretty much always interrupts Gene with one of his quips. Sometimes it's quite annoying.

  • the end sounded like an applause machine

  • Let Nipsey do his poem, Gene! )

  • Has there ever been a contestant who said no to coming back?

  • Dick DeBartolo was also a writer for MAD Magazine.

  • Television is not this fun anymore.

  • So centennial!! :)

Colorful streamers & balloons + an African-American man = best Match game Party!

  • Remember TPIR expanded to 1 hour later in 1975

  • The Bob Barker studio has proven to be THE place to be if vacationing in LA! :)

  • Ah, 1975. the year of the game show explosion.

  • There is portion of an episode of the soap opera THE EDGE OF NIGHT during the last months of its CBS run in 1975. During the closing credits, announcer Hal Simms tells the audience to "stay tuned for MATCH GAME '75, which follows next on most of these CBS stations".

  • Here a law:

A Match Game revival (even if on primrtime or GSN/Syndication) must have a year add-on for the traditional change.

    How would that go?

  • gee and back then I had no idea 33 years ago I'd be living in Alabama in 2008

  • I love it! Gene was such a funny guy and a great host. I love watching these sign changes from year to year. Thanks for posting all of these.

  • Did he say Bobby Sherman? As in the singer with the same name??

  • His name is James Darren.

  • Splendid! I still have a VHS copy of this MG NYE special.

Now let's see the sign change for 75 to 76!

  • It looks like the balloons all said "Match Game" on them. I want one!!!!!

  • I liked this signchange more than I did the 73-74!

  • On Tuesday December 31, 1974 "The Star-Studded Big Money MATCH GAME 74" is canceled on CBS-TV and the Debut of "The Star-Studded Big Money MATCH GAME 75" on Thursday January 2, 1975 on CBS-TV.

  • BRING ON THE BALLOONS!

  • This was probably taped in the middle of December.

  • Why did they need a whole new sign....they could have just changed the four to a five.

  • The sign was made of wood etc. and it was design as one huge piece rather then being able to be removed.

When the Producer design the new set and sign they had thought about having removable numbers at the time.

  • and that was also when MG PM started to shine

  • @mrmatchgame yeah, and then they only got to change it once - but that sign change was the one i remember watching as a child (78 to 79) - however, are you sure they changed the whole sign? I mean, they could easily have edited out the time it took to change the number 74 to 75 - they did have match game pm....perhaps the "Match Game" part was the same, but the suffix was interchangable

  • @mrmatchgame The newer (relatively) version of Match Game, when they redesigned the set and made the font of the sign more blocked, the numbers were removable and powered by a standard 4-pin connector. I think that change happened in 77.

  • @Novetrix It was actually partway through the 1978-1979 season.

  • did he mean the real Bobby Sherman the singer??? LOL

  • He was talking about the son of the Late Great Allen Sherman (Camp Granada)

  • Like match game 73 to 74, 75 to 76, 76 to 77 (oart two), and 78 to 79. Please.

  • Like match game 73 to 74, 75 to 76, 76 to 77 (part two), and 78 to 79. Please

  • Can you please upload Match Game Sign Change?

  • ???

  • Nipsey is done it again.
