Turkey has always let Jews in! Turkey doesn't hate Jews, they hate Israel. I'm Jewish, and I consider Turkey to be a safehaven if the world fucks us over again.
I like to remind those who are so harsh critisizing Turks that Turks were very good to us for 500 years and my family never felt any discrimination from Turks
this is amazing. I am not sure that the movie actually captures a jewish/yiddish dance. but may be a modern interprutation of jewish dance using turkish dance styles (specifically Aegean coast). but I am not a jewish/yiddish dance officianado. I defer to my jewish friends for their analysis...how did this dance get into a movie as a jewish wedding dance.
Yeah at first it iooked weird to me too. But when you think that turks and jews lived under the Ottoman Empire for a couple of centuries, some interaction of cultures is not that much surprising.. The same is also true between Turks and Greeks: there are some similarities in music and cuisine between Turks and Greeks too.
Respond to this video... is used turkish music because jewish are not a people(ethnical group) but a members of jewish religion, therefore they are not own music.
It's a Turkish folk song; Fidayda... And its original dance is performed with traditionally dressed men with steps and moves very similar to those in the movie...

There is a little misunderstanding, i suppose. There is no direct relation between the music and the movie. They are not Turkish Jews...
