  • Lutz is the reason why GM gone dip-sh!!t...

Lutz was the one who withheld the VOLTS into production.

Someone needs to hunt this f*cker and spray tons of can of RAID this scum exec cockroach!!!

  • please see the ( GM ) videos ( WHEN CAR DEALERS ATTACK ) OR THE NEW

VIDEO ( FRTZ MIKE WAYNE ) ON THE TUB E

SEE ASSAULT ON CHILDREN AND WOMEN

  • Dave is right! Its bullcrap!! The technology is and has been here for about 5 years. Do you notice, they always want to sell us the Gas engine no matter what?

We should demand electric only!! No more grease, and, no, I don't want fries with that, biaach!!!

  • and the VOLT is going to be $32500 for most of us

  • Haha at 5:44. "How would, how would you like a car? Hohok."

  • Your right... they do have Unions in Japan. which is why the automakers moved their assets to America. And they have done a good job staying competitive by keeping unions out.

According to Bloomberg news the only Union plant in the U.S. was a GM/Toyota joint venture in San Francisco, which Toyota plans to close. "It is Toyotas only U.S. auto factory where workers are represented by the United Auto Workers labor union, or UAW."

  • lutz is the rare executive who is a genuine car guy. alot of people dont get that. Hes amazing. also the Tesla is TERRIBLE. HYDROGEN FTW

  • GM is anti-American. Every American knows that.

  • ten..you are a tool. Everybody (American or not) knows that.

  • GM sold battery patents to the oil company the enemy

GM is not serous about electric cars they are too good

look at the Volt it has a 1.4 chevy aveo internal combustion engine

they want you to buy oil filters sparkplugs

they don't want to fire Mr Goodwrench

  • Chevrolet Cobalt $17,000

    Chevrolet Volt $40,000

Equals $23,000 to spend on gasoline

15 years or 215,000 miles to break even financially

  • letterman is a pimp!

  • Electric Motors are Highly Effecient. They lose far less to ineffeciency then combustion engines do to operate and transfer torque to the drive train. AND they are LOW MAINTENANCE...THE EV-1's didn't require 3000 mile oil changes just light chasis lubes. Eventually the batteries would have to have been replaced but AGAIN these were NOT prohibitively expensive batteries. BOB LUTZ IS A TOADY! HE'S LYING ON BEHALF OF GM. He never was a supporter of fuel eff. or electric cars...he's pond scum!

  • Lutz is an oil puppet.

  • As for NO ONE WOULD BUY THE EV-Us BULL $#IT! People were LINEd UP WITH ENORMOUS WAITING LISTS TO BUY THEM.... AND THE BATTERY TECHNOLOGY WASN"T LITHIUM ION, BUT IT WAS WORKING UNLIKE WHAT HE SAID.... BTW HE WASN'T IN GM AT THE TIME so HOW THE FRUCK DOES HE KNOW? FROM TALKING POINTS!!!!

BATTERIES ALSO WERN'TT NEARLY AS EXPENSIVE. They wouldn't hold as high impact charge but they were Cost effective AND he said the MATINTENANCE OF THE FLEET WAS BECOMING SO OWNEROUS.... BULLSHIT!

  • Hey Bob, on your way back to Detroit stop in Springwater, NY. We can give that Volt a Solar Charge. You can check out our system on You Tube Solar Wind Generator Green Construction The video shows our system in action in Orchard Park, NY. (home of the Buffalo Bills). Canadice Construction has gone Solar since July 9th 2008. We are mean, green and clean!!

  • Of course the ones they manage to build were expensive. They are prototypes. The price would come down in mass production. And the batteries back then were fine for most of the people who drove it.

  • why such a late reaslese date????

    to little to late ,

and where the hell is my manual transmission suvs and trucks and vans ? they are going extinct!!

  • What do you mean late? They unveiled this concept just two years ago. It takes ~5 years to design a new car. Considering this is an entirely new kind of car, they're moving very very quickly.

All I have to say is if you think GM is slow, then how come they are going to be (yet again) the first automaker to market with an electric car?

And manual transmissions are going extinct because a) no one buys them. And b) they're harder to get to pass emission regulations.

  • go dave grill bob about that pos volt .telsa is far ahead of any auto dealer because they arent owned by any oil companies thats why telsa is getting it done faster also dave didnt mention about phoenix motor cars inc. build a kickass all electric suv and truck that would kick that volts a#@

  • I hope the production cars look that good. It's a fine, futuristic looking car.

  • This IS the production version. The concept model was shown years ago.

  • GM is the K-mart of automakers.

  • you are the lil wanye of youtube commenters: you suck

  • The truth sucks... doesn't it? You must be a member of the UAW.

K-mart died-out because they couldn't keep up with their competition. I lived through the 80's when GM was producing total piece of shit cars... they had many opportunities to catch up with Japan but they didn't,

GM deserves to die out... just like K-mart, Circuit City, Sharper Image and many others who could not innovate and compete in the global market.

    Sorry UAW you destroyed GM.

  • The UAW did no such thing. The reason that Americans (have / had) living wages and don't work 60 hour weeks in completely unsafe conditions is because of unions hard fought battles.

You no nothing of workers stuggles in the late 1800's and 1900's if you'd make such a foolish statement.

What killed GM and the auto makers were consecutively making SHORT SIDED decisions. BIG CARS / BIG TRUCKS ...boom the 1970's oil embargos hit and the world leaders got under cut by japan who had smaller

  • lighter foot print cars. Despite all that GM went right back to producing gas guzzlers. During the Carter administration CAFE standards were raised and there they sat ...until the shader automakers realized they could exploit the TRUCK loophole and built vehicles that were expempt from the tougher car standards...Fuel Economy DECREASED during the 80's 90's and most of 2000.

Why sell SUV's because they got the biggest bang for the buck they sold high comparible to average cars...

  • People bring up what unions accomplished a century ago. However, look at what they have become. Is it libelous that every gangster movie and television show portrays unions as dirty and corrupt? I don't see anyone suing for defamation of character.

GM is drowning in debt because of the unions. The only way GM can survive as a company is to go into bankruptcy, cut the unions loose and hire non-union workers

Following the example of successful automakers like Toyota, Honda and Nissan..

  • The problem with your arguments are many. #1 we don't live solely in today...We are impacted by HISTORY. We bring up those accomplishments because they established the middle class and the right wing (businesses) have been tearing apart at those gains ever since. If you think working a union autoworker job earning high 20's- to 30 thousand a year and you think that's too much after working for a company for 20 years you are simply tearing down the middle class.

  • GM (& many corporations-allowed by congress) played fast & loose w/ pensions. They put IOU's into pensions and spent the money elsewhere...when it came time for that money to be paid out (esp. in poor economic times) GM didn't have it (THERE FAULT)! - Not union workers. HEALTH care is a rt of all, don't punish union workers b/c they wanted health care. Toyota et all are too new to be paying out large amounts for worker pensions. As time goes on they will have to do so, we'll talk then!

  • You don't see the failure in your logic? Japanese car companies are surviving this recession because they don't have unions. Unions destroy competitveness and destroy initiative.

You go to Toyota demanding this or that. They will fire you, then they will go out into the general public find one of the 9.4% who are unemployed to replace you. It is that is easy and absolutely wonderful.

  • LOL, no GM for example destroyed itself...repeatedly with poor decisions/ poor designs and a failure of leadership. Toyota ET. AL. responded first in the 1970's by producing fuel effecient cars & made their first real in roads then into the US Market. They cont. by designing cars that LASTED...VS Det. which had the model of build them to break so they'll buy more often (OUCH!)...the final nail in the coffin was the failure to perceive $4 gas... You think it was LABOR, NO it was MANAGEMENT.
