  • its cool that people can do this. it really seems like an art. I thought speakers hit the brick wall once the cones ripped, but i can't say i plan to try this, i'd do more damage than good.

  • do you work in a shop where you recone speakers for customers?

  • @bandbgamesroom I used to...sadly the shop don't exist anymore

  • @conetoframe awwww:(, being out of busness is not the easiest thing to think about!

  • this is how to repair the whole speaker ...

  • I didn't know there was a parts store for speakers. Who carries the voice coils and cones?

  • excellent chef ,

  • was that a DJ disco speaker?

  • that the worst surround ive seen on a speaker..my masking tape surround on this old 12" inch i have can handle more excursion lol

  • @666TECHNO666 These aren't made for excursion.they're made for most sound of the least amount of power. Efficient design those surrounds

  • @CobraProductionsTV true, but they look like they have a really bad low frequency response

  • does the voice coil go all the way down or is there a certain depth?

  • @rogelioakajr not all the way down of course...you can mark the center of the winding with a marker and lower the coil till you hide the mark in the center of the top plate where the magnetic field is concentrated. You should be able to see a part of the winding outside the gap.

  • like a boss

  • hello quebec

  • dats a big ass speaker

  • whats the black glue used called? is it just an expoxy resin? great tutorial.

  • @tobebius Thanks. No, it's special speaker adhesive, but it's alot like automotive Goop...Thats for cone to frame or spider to frame ; We use Two part Acrylic (like in the video) or epoxy for coil to cone and spider ; On top of the the suspension i put surround treatment...It's just like white glue...in this case, i glued the gaskets with it...and it's good for the dust cap also.

  • great job

  • Is it possible to have a sub-woofer re coned to accept a higher wattage?

  • @narcoti Yes you could put a higher wattage coil as long as it will fit in the gap.

  • when using knifes. rember always work away from your self... and never use compres air with out goggles,

good vid... bro but i rather glue the leads as clouse to the voice coil so your dust cap won laid over them and test the speaker be fore solder them..

  • @ladjkaoz Thanks. Some have the leads close to the coil and some dont. I want it to look just like the original.

  • awesome job man its clean

  • awesome!!

  • nice gg

  • excellent video, thanks!!

  • at 5:30 you start putting on the outer cushion.. where can i get those?

  • @motorguy8369 search: speaker gaskets

  • didnt see any loose wires on the voice coil former, (?!)

  • I'm wondering how someone was actually able to blow a Black Widow?

  • @Edward681 D.J. Rap music. Does it every time. I didn't know Peavey sold re-cone kits, i thought you just bought the replacement basket.

  • @jrcstudios This is not an original Peavey kit but a replacement from MWA speaker parts

  • @Edward681 Clipped signal more than likely...clipped music(alot of Rap) or a clipped signal will blow a speaker quicker than over powering the speaker.

  • @Edward681 It IS possible to blow black widow!! (I got a couple of them on rental) but personnaly I don't recone them, I just put a new basket over the old magnet (yess, peavey designed and sells DIY self centering recone kits DUH!)

    Great tutorial however

  • @elbeaver883 Yeah, I had to re-basket a couple of Peavey scorpions back in the 80's. Its easy to do but almost as expensive as just buying new speakers.

  • peavey also has replacement baskets as another option

  • hmmm guyz can you pls help me.....My friend of mine drop his broke speakers at our house not knowing the reason why......the parts of the speaker he drop in has no cone its fully damaged only the magnets and the outer layering's are good condition i try to recoil it but i don't know how many times the coil counts....so whats the best that i can do to repair it....give some comments guyz pls i need your help

  • @hexlorddamech did you used google translator? because it sucks..

so your friend damaged the cone?

  • @hexlorddamech yes you got it

  • thanks i have a sound company, i found just what i was looking for

  • were can i find the recone kit for this speaker and the other stuff u used

  • were can i find the recone kit for this speaker

  • cheaper for me just to buy a new one

  • 8:10-> 8:17 sounds like a motorbike lool good job :)

  • Meat head does know how to rewind a video Coronal

  • Meathead does know how to rewind a video Colonal

  • great video....

  • he didn't grind down the left over residue on the rim,but good vid

  • That guy is SO fast!

  • @conetoframe

Hey men, you use a wood table for turn your speaker... the deburring machine its the next step, the next a frame for hold and turn your speaker, and the best proffesional option its a lathe for remove all the old parts ;)

  • im sure none of us have this stuff laying around the house

  • mmm... you remove all old glues and rests with your hands? Use a round wire brush attached to a radial deburring machine (10.000rpm) you clean all in one minute, and no work, work the machine ;)

I never look a 18" Black Widow recone.. Very good video!

  • I would recommend cleaning the frame more thoroughly around the suspension(s) landing(s).Leaving that much residue is OK when you use the exact same adhesive as the factory(or the last guy reconing),,,, BUT that's usually not the case. Good video tho'.

  • This is very helpful thanks
