@bodenga Not really, in my humble opinion, seeing that many players in the NHL consider him the best shut-down defenseman in the league. To quote his teammate, Dan Cleary, "He's not real physical, but you ask any good player and they'd rather play against a defenceman that will run at you so you can beat him to the net at opposed to Nick, who will take away your time and space."
@bodenga Add to that his phenomenal offensive abilities, and it's no surprise that he's won 6 Norris Trophies and is widely considered one of the best defensemen of all-time to EVER play in the NHL.
@bodenga holds him back from what? stanley cups? obviously not.. norris trophies? not at all. he is a walking legend, there is not a single player in the nhl right now that is even close to what he has accomplished and will continue to. he doesnt need body checks dude hes the gretzky of defensemen and like gretzky he outsmarts his oppenent. thats how he dominates. gretzky didnt have to be the best shooter or the most skilled to put up those numbers it because he was a genius, same for the swede.
he's a great player but it is hockey and the fact that he never throws a body check does hold him back
