I think Kalinda's probably lying about not speaking Hindi, it's probably part of her identity change (or whatever that was) because most kids of Indian origin can, at the very least, understand Hindi, if not speak it.

And BTW, the shopkeeper's Hindi is terrible, like his lines were written in English and run through Google Translate by the scriptwriter. But then again, maybe he was pretending not to speak English...
