I think you could call this a 'lyrical film'. It is very atmospheric and somehow says a lot about comradeship, fondness for fine objects like a bulk-carrier and love of the sea and movement. Loved it!
Thank you for your very kind comments, I am very glad that you enjoyed it and managed to immerse yourself in the atmosphere and tone I was attempting to portray when editing this footage.
It also shows how fond you are of your father. I really do sense what you are conveying here. For some reason my favourite clip is the belt conveyor working away to Mersey-beat!
Its nice to see what happened to all those P'nuts who left Gravesend.Who remembers Blossoms,The Three Daws,Prom Cafe and not forgeting the Flying Angel Club.
The Sea School is now a training camp for the Police Force.
Hardly. The comment said "The once great British Merchant Navy". Your video clips show Filipino Officers and Panamanian ships. You may be British, but you aren't "British Merchant Navy" any more.
The face of ignorance has finally shown up. My video does not show "Filipino Officers" as you claim, the Japanese flag may have given you clue that they were Japanese customs officers and not the ships officers which I may add was registered in Britain with an all British crew and owned by J.I. Jacobs of London. There may well have been Panamanian ships shown at some point considering that the majority of the film was shot between Chile and Japan via Panama, so your point being? Muppet!
