why is it that in every martial arts video i see there are very very long comments about peoples opinions??? why can't everybody just watch the video and rate it with the like or dislike button? that's what it's there for...btw i did like this form it was quite impressive.
About BJJ, Kung Fu, MMA, holds, etc.: The fact of the matter is that you need a combination of standing fighting, holds, joint manipulation, takedowns, grappling, and weapons skill to be an effective marital artist or fighter. Any style that neglects any of these is not a complete style. MMA, BJJ, and Kung Fu are not complete in that sense. So let's stop the nonesense about which is better. It should be acknowledged that each has its strengths and weaknesses.
Damn this guy is spot on. absolutely on point. THe energy, the stamina, the power. Joy to watch. Great conservation of qi. Nearly flawless application of technique.
As to the guy talking about MMA. Go ask a pro fighter, a hand to hand combat specialist, a decent bouncer or pro bodyguard, or anybody in protection details and they will tell you that MMA is crap. BJJ? not a good idea in real life. will get your head stomped in. Submission holds in actual combat get real. Who has time?
Wushu is a monk's vehicle of zen, to attain spirtual development. Shaolin monks are warriors but do not advocate fighting, though it is perpetual to defend ones self through it.
Well... this discussion gets into a completely wrong direction. Most of you speak about what style is better then the other. Is a MMA Guy deadlier than a Monk? You forget the fact that the mentality of a Shaolin Monk shouldn't be compared with another persons way of thinking and fighting. They train their minds to be calm in every situation and to send "ignorant idiots to hell" :-)
Even if they do, they believe heaven and hell to be more psychological in nature, in which case sending ignorants idiots to hell wouldn't be ethical, because without wisdom, the ignorants will themselves carve their own path, I wish the ignorants had wisdom, though, because that would be good for everyone.
@You3are3 I couldn't agree more. First and foremost, in so far as my understanding is concerned, A monk would rather train his mind to be strong, body to evade, deflect, or absorb a blow without causing harm to the attacker before he would train his body and mind to cause harm - but in keeping with tradition, the monk will use weapons and motions that appear as attacks - even though they may never attack anyone in their whole lives - these motions however should not be concidered merely as show.
@ OctoBox - what side u on anyway? Work, work, work till u drop pal... I'm sure this monk is happier than YOU back in Songshan practicing his Jin'Gang fist & reading the Sutras than U scapping off piles of grime of cooking pans for a minimum wage in some God knows Chinatown restaurant out there 9/5 werrying about your expired visa whilst someone is banging your wife & u think u got it all... Laughs.
34: Ooooo You got me Bro, dead on -- those are my worries *thinking* 1) Not enough time to read Sutras and 2) Scapping (not sure what that means) off piles of grime vs Songshan Jin'Gang is no trade off!!
Man if I only read more X-men books I might be able to tap into SpeedForce like the Flash, wait that was DC -- anyway I have a Kettlebell seminar to go to Wayne Dyer is demonstrating, then there's a facial at 3pm, no time to chit-chat Dahling!!
If I was running the Shaolin Temples, I'd put more stress on education -- get these monks jobs and less time spent on spastic arm movements that have nothing to do with "real" fighting, I mean it's good to beat up drunk tourists, but they'd be destroyed beyond the middle tier of UFC or Pride. Now if they trained like MMA with no job, wow, then yeah it'd be cool to be that type of monk. But, I say train them in computers and sub 'em out bring some money home to the monestary!
UFC is bull crap! They say they're the 'world's best fighter', bull crap! They'd get beaten up so easily by a monk, it's not funny, btw, your comment just shows how ignorant and naive you are about wushu. Shame. Shame.
the "spastic arm movements" are designed to bridge the physical system with the energy system to obtain point power so you don't have to draw you arm back when you strike, point power is a valuable tool in self defense not real fighting there is actually a difference
@ FightingWarrior dont talk crap coo u dont know jack shit. This is traditional Jin gang li gong - I practice style every day - its meant stricly for real combat.
You just very clearly demonstrated, that you don't know the difference between (Sport)Wushu and traditional Wuschu. This is a traditional TaoLu and has nothing to do with modern Wushu.
As someone who does a Northern Long Fist I would rate this as a strong display. However, The main thing I see wrong with CMA is that people collect forms and don't train to be martially skilled ( I.e. they don't sparr) And if they do...they kickbox and try to mimmic Kung fu
It's a modern wushu version of the internal "Diamond Fist" form/style.
A monk? Every chinese can wear an orange suit and say his a monk. Unfortunately also to be a REAL monk ha little to nothing significate, there are very few ones that are really traditional and know/teach REAL traditional Kung Fu. Shi De Yang is one of them.
excellent form, and also that is actually the real shaolin temple, i' have visited it. (note: no tourists)So many people think they know kung fu. I have been practising for many years, spent time training in china and i am now learning from a layman monk here in england, he is a monk from the temple not the shaolion guan. I'm only just starting to realise the true meaning of kung fu it's something that doesnt come to you quickly. Sadly some people can never experience this. Well done cutrod.
WRONG!, that is DEFINITELY 100% for certain a practicing shaolin monk demonstrating the real deal jingang 'metal hardness' boxing which is considered by experts to be the BEST and most effective form in shaolin, beautifully executed in every detail, soft and hard combined!, check your ignorance!

WongTheBong 3 years ago
no, not his style in the movie.i can´t even remember this style being mentionned, i thought he did tie bu shan as a specialty

I've never seen an original audio-track version of Invincible Shaolin.
In the overdub they say Lu Feng practices the "Chin Kang Palm".
But then this would be called the Jin Kang Zhuang, wouldn't it? : ]
