I have to disagree. Proverbs like the ones you mentioned or similar (still water runs deep etc.) do not generally hold true - not even in the majority of the cases.

These proverbs were made for people who are overstrained in assessing and understanding other people or situations. They fit their one-dimensional view of the world. Judging someone by the amount of noise they make or the amount of trouble they cause - that's just plain utter fucking bullshit. (I have a pretty large vocabulary btw.)
