why would you buy a liberty? its hideously underpowered, yet manages to get the same mpg as suv's twice its size, and the interior is horribly cramped. why would you buy this over say a nissan xterra which is better off road, roomier inside, is built with much more quality, and has so much more power. granted it does simillar mpg to the jeep, but it also has 55 more horsepower and is much larger.
The Liberty is a bit of a pooch, but you can't beat its part-time FWD, and it has serious personality. At 211,00 miles, our '02 ran like it was never gonna stop. I would put it up against any SUV in its class off-road, too.
well, the xterra has part time fwd also, as most off-roaders do. i think the personality it has is that it is very shitty and underpowered, i was looking to buy one a few years ago. i test drove it, the dealer tried to rip me off, and i actually ended up buying an altima instead, and i'm glad i did because it is much larger than the liberty.
when i say ripped off, my wife asked about the mpg, and he gave her the diesel mpg, not the 3.7's.
it did have a good turn radius though, one good thing
