When I seen all that fighting in the backround I was blown away by the true talent the game makers had at making this scene. I still have not seen a game since then to have shown backround animation like this.
For a ps1 game, this is one good example on why games today usually suck.
Galbadian soldiers wielding shields and machine guns...SeeD cadets wielding broadswords, spears, bare fists, shooting magic fireballs and iceballs, sending ground shockwaves with what appears to be lightening magic...all in a brutally messy, yet bloodless and goreless battle. It would be cool if square-enix would make a game that capitalized on this in ff8 that focused on battle strategy, and soldier building similar to what FFTactics and Crystal Defenders had.
Haha. Yea I was originally going to use the demo version of "The Landing" but couldn't find it. FF12 had just come out at the time so I used that track instead. Not much of an explanation or excuse, but just my reasoning at the time.
Those are just students fighting with gunblades that have an Animeish hair style. You can barely see them so >.> it wouldnt be that hard to render hair styles since thats all they'd need to do.. But nah, It was just to make it look like Squall isn't the only Gunblade user (aside from Seifer)
But Squall and Seifer ARE the only Gunblade users in Garden. Even Headmaster Cid mentioned it! They are just students fighting with Galbadian Swords, NOT Gunblades.
If you talk to Cid right before you go to do the SeeD mission, he says something like " We still don't have a GunBlade Master on SeeD... " Which means, there must be more than just Squall and Seifer or else he would of said "Squall, you can become the first GunBlade USER on SeeD"
And even Laguna states when he is fighting the dragon " A Gunblade? I haven't used one of these since Training " Which means its a weapon used in training, and he is a Galbadian Soldier.
The only thing Cid said was "Finally, a Gunblade Specialist". He said nothing regarding being a Master. As for the Laguna comment, there is another piece of dialogue that contradicts yours. In the G-Prison, when the party's weapons are lying around, a Soldier says, "Is this what they call a Gunblade?" If your theory is true, then the soldier would know it IS a Gunblade, even though he didn't.
Laguna does infact say "I havent used one of these since training" and he is a Galbadian soldier correct? but yeah, I guess theres no way to really tell, These guys might be fighting with just swords but I find it really hard to believe that Squall and Seifer are the only Gunbladers.. that would kind of suck.. they are already the main Rivalry now they are the only GBers? I find it hard to believe, and yeah Specialist. W/e. Doesn't none of em use..
I understand that Laguna said it. He said it in his Disk 3 Dream Sequence. I'm just contradicting your "deduction" that ALL Galbadian Soldiers use them in training! Another thing I remembered is the fact that a student in Balamb, along with Zell, have a special interest in Squall's Gunblade, and often ask him to see it.
I'm just saying they are used in training, Since Laguna obviously used one before. And Not all GunBlades are the same, so maybe they just wanted to see how Squalls looks.
I know this is old but Laguna saying that doesn't mean he actually trained with one. It was late in the whole Ellone flashbacks and Squall along with the others were known to affect the disposition and actions of those they were sent back into. So it could have been part of Squall's thoughts that were expressed by that statement.
Gee that mindset tends to get many people killed, that cockiness. Oh and umm, you can't dispute any facts pointed out by the games themselves. Cid himself used the term "Gunblade Specialist" thus establishing the fact that they are difficult to use. Not to mention the fact that only three people in the game have apparently used one. <_<
Yea. People get killed cause they have no coordination. I used a gun at a very young age, along with a blade. They're only dangerous if you have no caution.
Gunblades in FF8 are not fired to shoot enemies. The report of the shells(just gunpowder, no bullets) causes the blade to vibrate which makes it cut a lot better. Ever heard of a vibroblade? Well gunblades are low-tech versions of vibroblades.

Do you notice the multiple Squall sprites in battle with the Galbadian Soldiers?
Some look like Squall in his Garden uniform fighting with a gunblade
FinalWeaponx 4 years ago
I disagree. They're just Balamb Students using the Galbadian Swords.
Ian0723 3 years ago
Really?
Cos to me, the first time you see them fight doesn't have Squall sprites.
But, watch it from 3:44. I see a few Squalls in the background, fighting with gunblades.

er no?
