  • I love this speech so much.

  • This show should be "required viewing" for every President-Elect.

  • such an awesome speech

  • ...outside of the Murrah federal building in Little Rock and the small thing at the Atlanta Olympics.

  • @r5t6y12

Well one it wasn't little rock, you're pretty much retarded so I won't even comment on your previous statement....it was Oklahoma City...hell you could look up "Murrah Federal Building" and it'd show Oklahoma City....so that's just stupidity and laziness on your part.

  • Actually, the funniest aspect of this situation is that though this type of thing happens outside of North America all the time I don't even remember HEARING about a situation like this happening ANYWHERE INSIDE NORTH AMERICA in the last 25 years.

  • The most brilliant 3:30 seconds in television history. Nothing is even close.

  • 2:30 "Ran INTO the fire. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight." I always cry at that line. My favorite moment of The West Wing. <3

btw, thanks for putting the scenes before the speech (CJ's extended press conference, Toby, Josh, and Donna, etc.).

  • What I would give for the U.K Government to act like this...... I feel so let down.

  • THAT is a PRESIDENT...!

  • ......freak! Just blows me away every time I watch it; the swing from "The streets of heaven are too crowded...." to "freak!" deadpan. Bring it back!

  • How did Martin Sheen not win an Emmy for this? HOW?!

  • What I would give for a Prime Minister like that in the UK.

  • why did they have to change the name of the school to kennison state? Anyone who knows who the big ten schools are knows that they're talking about the university of Iowa when describing the pipe bomb part... Is that typical or something writers/producers do to not have a direct link to the actual school they're writing about? Just curious if anyone knows...

  • "The streets of Heaven are too crowded with angels tonight."

One of the best lines in the whole series. A true homage to any heroes. Bravo.

  • 3 people are the bombers .

  • "When did you write that last part?"

    "In the car".

    "Freak"!

LOL West Wing had the best writing with Sorkin and the actors delivered the lines perfectly, making it one of the best shows on television.

  • I love that scene. Aaron Sorkins writing and Martin Sheen delivering the words. Can't any better than that.

  • 3 people actually didn't like this? wow.

One of the best scenes in the history of the show.

  • Is Kennison State supposed to be a stand-in for the University of Iowa (Hawkeyes and Big Ten)?

  • This clip while being one of the best 3 minutes in The West Wing series, is a microcosm of just how amazing this show was. I think sometimes it was overshadowed by the Sopranos which pretty much aired side by side. It is, as so many people have said before me, THE BEST....written, acted, directed and especially casted show in network TV history. I’ve watched the series from start to finish 4 times now and it gets better every single time.

  • A day when bombing that kills 44 people and the Dow drops 684 points...wow... that was one shitty day for the Bartlet Administration...

  • My FAVORITE episode.

  • "ran into the fire" always gets me. theres always one moment in almost every episode that chokes you up.

  • I coach the debate team at my old high school. I make them watch things like Bartlet's speech in this for inspiration. Still makes me want to cry. 'The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight'.

  • It's Tori Amos.

  • Tori Amos.

  • That'll put tears in your eyes.

  • whose version of i dont like mondays was that?

  • This just aired again here this morning on Bravo. This speech gets me everytime. Man is Martin Sheen good.

  • @faceprecious His speech makes me tear up every time.

  • @faceprecious I want to change that Man is Martin Sheen great.

  • Now that is how a speech is given. It almost seems a lost art these days. JFK could make a great speech and I don't think any President has been as good as him since.

  • mondo78 - You need to go back and watch/listen to some of Reagan's speeches. They didn't call him The Great Communicator for nothing.

  • Inspiring. Truly inspiring. For the human condition and humanity itself. I miss this show a lot.

  • I thought this was season 3. The end of season 2 was when he announced he was running again. In terms of the presdency wouldn't that annnouncement have come in his 3rd year of the first term and the election in the fourth year. With the season being a 7 year show, I thougt the first year of the show would be the 2nd year of the presidents term.

    I am just wondering.

SORRY IF I CONFUSED ANY OF YOU.

  • Shakespearian in its depth, nothing in television history has anthing been better. A true masterpiece. Thanks!

  • "We will do what is hard, we will achieve what is great. This is the time for American Hero's and we reach for the stars."

Thank you Arron Sorkin and Thanks for the post.

  • One word! Goosebumps!

  • Don't know if it's Tori Amos or the inspiring words but, this scene always gives me chills

  • one of the most inspiring speeches in television history. every word just perfect ,an awsome delivery by an amazing actor

  • In an attempt to highlight the void in true leadership at the time the President on the West Wing called on us to reach for the stars. How did we show our strength and "rise to master that moment"? Our country was paralyzed by fear-mongering and a total lack of vision from our real leaders. This scene chokes me up every time because it reminds me of the potential we have as a country to overcome the toughest of issues if we have the collective will to do it and the leaders to show us the way.

  • where can I watch this episode of

    west wing?

  • This speech always gets to me. Wasn't this episode season 3, right? I am wondering because of the speech if not shortly after 9/11.

  • its season 4 episode 2. Aaron Sorkins last season.speeches like this one was nowhere to be found in the following seasons. words of that truly inspire hope.

  • This is my favorite episode ever.

So many wonderful acting points by a number of people in a number of scenes.

    What a great show.

  • I wish I could give this scene more than 5 stars...

  • I just spent 3 weeks of my vacation watching six seasons of the West Wing. and I cant think of a better way to spend it. the show will always stand as one of the greatest and this cene is by far my favorite moment. truly, when you have amazing writing and Mr. Sheen, you get magic:-)

  • Gorgeous...well, everything!

    Aaron Sorkin is GOD

Christopher Misiano is awesome as well (duh!)

    and... :(

Ron Silver -- what a classic actor! SO funny, such great timing, such great presence.

The world will miss his talent.

  • And John Spencer RIP x

  • whats the song and whos it by

  • Originally by by the Boomtown Rats: I don't like Mondays. Here a cover version by Tori Amos...

  • @karaoan The song was inspired by a mass shooting at a playground in San Diego in 1979. A teenage girl did the shooting. When asked why she did it, she said "I don't like Mondays".

  • BEST SHOW EVER

  • Amazing, and yeh a show that never fails to impress

  • Indeed... Quite possibly my favourite West Wing moment from all seven seasons!

  • My favorite Bartlet speech ever.

  • I love the ending.

Bruno: When did you write the last part?

    Sam: In the car.

    Bruno: Freak!
