Well it kind of does matter because falling foward is a sign of humility... we call it prostating oneself. So from the point of view that falling foward is a sign of genuflection or prostation, it could potentially mean that falling backwards is the opposite of that in a way. Falling backwards can be a sign of surrender/ecstacy, which is often interpreted in the positive manner, but also has a negative connotation of being the reverse of humility.

Being "slain in the Spirit" is not actually being slain, which would be killed. Basically, thats when people seem to be overwhelmed by the feeling, or realization of God's presence to the point that they might faint. Some people say they have visions in that "fainted" condition. Others are simply falling down because of they've been emotionally overwhelmed. Same as when Elvis would kiss young women at his concerts, or throw a shirt at them. There are those that say " What about the soldiers who became as dead men ? " in Mt. 28 : 4 . Often when people are slain in the spirit, they are given visions by God.

Clearly if someone is seeing a vision by God, they can't be driving, or working, or Talking with other people. Usually they are just on the floor slain.

I believe in slaying in the spirit, but it wasn't in a crowd of a thousand people, it was at a very small gathering and I was about 11 yrs old. Its happen several other times also. In my 20's I almost died from illness and the Lord told me I had to come back, most powerful spiritual experience you cannot put into words. So yes it was the same spirit. But what goes on in these mega churchs scare me for what they are doing....Read your Bible believe in no man but the Father which is in Heaven.

Have you ever considered that many people enter ministry and leave? People can enter ministry and renounce their faith, go with the wrong motives, and they can also do it because everyone else is. Slain in the spirit happens at very charismatic events, where there is music played (in a repetitive trancelike way). This opens the door for many psychological factors. These people could have been brainwashed into it.

My point is, people joining the ministry does not validate the experience.

Sure it was in the Bible, When Paul was in the 3rd heaven, if he was out of his body, then where was his body. Did it disappear, was it sleeping, or was it slain. My friend experienced vision of heaven and Jesus while her body was slain (out). Those who haven't experienced it are usually the worst critics.

Sounds like some eisegesis goin on there. You cant assume things that arent exegeted directly from Scripture based on expierience outside the Bible. The Bible never mentions Slaying in the Spirit. Also, Paul wrote part of the Bible from his expierience in the vision. Maybe your friend will have to write some more parts to the Bible past revelation amd get her own translation.

Oh wait, it says not to add to or take away from the Bible, because the revelation is compltete for us now until Jesus comes, and to do so would be sin. The Bible tells us to be sober Being "slain out" and, pretending to be "drunk in the spirit" is not very sober, and these things are practiced by pagan and occultic religions. The Bible tells us to be not like the heathen religions but to be separate from the world and only follow God's Word.

Whatever you want to call it: I was in a worship service and my Holy Spirit said 'Lay down'. So I did. Then, as God started to work on me through the Spirit, I went into a phase of time where I was with Jesus, my wife and my daughter.
