Era un'po pericoloso al'inizio degli anni '70 quando ho comprato la mia prima "National" si chiama national perche e molto volgare, ce l'ha amanti e gondolle a dosso, alberi, palme... ma credo che sone ogetti magnetici... Fin'allora ho suonato chitarre d'acaio e chitarre "bottleneck" (gola di botiglia) e ho imparato di suonarle un po, pero, era a chuel'tempo che...

It is fair to say that it is neither. That type of guitar has a certain name, National, as Mark Knopfler pointed out, when introducing the song. But of course if you had to put it in either the electric or acoustic category, then it is an acoustic. A resonator acoustic.

I own a National style O 14 (a new one) and it's a really wonderful guitar. The sound is awesome, I would never replace it for another guitar.

National is actually the name of the company that started making them. It's actually called a resonator guitar. It's not like a lot of guitars the sound it makes is hard to explain at times. Well mostly to me I think it's louder, longer sustain and a bit banjo sound in it to. I first heard it being played on this song.
