  • I could just cry looking at them, they're just too beautiful...

  • i have the whole of this performance on video! its amazing and defs the best one there is i reckon:)

  • Beautiful <3

  • 62 people just became melted snowflakes >_<

  • I saw nutcracker ballet last winter with my grandmother

  • Love Ballet !!!

  • so in time! lovly foot work and its so much different from what we do especially the costumes but still wow!

  • @youthgirl38, I AM VERY TOTALLY COMPLETELY jealous because I have no talent whatoever... Nontheless I loved! Bolshoi always suprises us in the best way possible! I with I could dance like that (or at least walk without falling)

  • Amazing to the "pointe" of perfection!

  • goodness, i would love to dance on that big of a stage. <3

  • This is my dream. To be a dancer! -3

  • What a strange journey it has been. I started off going on Youtube and noticing an ign trailer for Alice: Madness returns, which leads me to watching alice in wonderland. I notice in the side bar, an Edward Scissorhands trailer and felt compelled by the music, causing me to look up sad movie soundtracks which leads me to Requiem for a Dream soundtrack. Then I notice the newest Aronofsky film, Black Swan, and before I know it, I'm looking up ballet's on youtube.

  • I must have watched this at least 50 times.

  • Fantastic memories of this when I was a young man.

  • Hmmm...

Point your toes snowflakes and piqué onto a straight leg jeez not impressed

  • @mssari101 you must remember that at this time ballet wasn't so much about technique, but more about the way its presented.

  • Peter I. Tchaikovsky and The Nutcracker are a part of our past and future. Great ballet and musical performances. Whether its the waltz of the flowers, Snowflakes,

the sugar Plum fairy, dance of the Reed Pipers, the dance of the Mice, and the chinese dance, it is Tchaikovsky at its best. Janice, Atlanta, GA

  • great performance, thank you!

  • 60 people were buried by snowflakes

  • how hard is it to become a snowflake???

  • to all them jerks out there who make fun of boys for being in ballet... you think football is hard? basketball? HA! the boys in ballet are more hardworking muscular an hardcore than you will ever be! and they get to be in a whole class full of girls, just sayin (:

  • @abbysawesome98 thank you! i think its manly when a man is into dancing. which is gayer? a bunch of big sweaty men grabbing each other to get a ball, or men in a room with a lot of pretty girls?

  • @abbysawesome98 I don't deny that. I've seen The Nutcracker Ballet, and I can see every single leg mucsle through their tights. Ballet dancers are athletes in their own right.

  • wow so beautiful and gracefully now im more determind to dance :)

  • thats one big stage ...

  • @LaFRaXXA Bolshoi = Big

  • what about thirteen? is that pushing it?

  • they are so sycrinized =O

  • Beatiful !!!

  • You can yearn at any age, Although 17 is definitely pushing the ability to become professional but as a hobby of course you can :D

  • Diagonale on such a stage,oh my!

  • @starspiano

yep any age you just hav to be committed but at seventeen you would be very far behind

  • So swift.. so graceful.. so jealous :(

  • @starspiano hell yeah! if you give 200% and put all your heart and soul into it, you'll get there;) but you have to be careful when training really hard, especially on pointe shoes, because you can get cramps and all kinds of stuff....once one of my best friends got a thing in her foot (idk what it was) and now she cant dance:( she had won many medals:( it was sad:S ..........btw, dont think im an expert, im only 14:D im not like EXCELLENT but i know a lot of things about this:)

  • WOW imagine dancing on a stage that big!!!! So amazing, the dancers were suburb!!!

  • 60 dislikes? 60 rejected ballerinas.

  • i like how she jumps on 1:28

  • What a performance: dancers and orchestra... just awesome!

  • snow is my favorite part of nutcracker!! its gorgeous...but i hate it when the clara dances with the variations

  • i just LOVE this variation<3 and the on from giselle too:)

  • @starspiano it's not that expensive:) depending in where you live and where you want to practice:)

  • Went to see this!!!!!! Love love love ballet xxxx

  • WOW........sooooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I WAS THERE!

  • @melinalovescandy im jelous! take me w/ you next time!!!!

  • @melinalovescandy Take me with you next time you go!! PLEASE!!!

  • I wonder if the other snowflakes secretly want to trip the lead.

  • I could not belive it, but according to the time and scene, I am one of the 3 sopranos singing behind the scene. I did not know, that anybody got it on tape.

I miss my theatre now :(

  • i was clara in my ballet once and i was only like 9

  • BEAUTIFUL choreography! and that's a huge effing stage. just thinking of doing a diagonal on that thing makes me exhausted

  • :O...

    There's a bunch of them! :O

  • whoever disliked this has zero taste in dance whatsoever.

  • They're like little faires at :30 <3

  • i hate thumbs up comments -,-

  • cool but boaring

  • This is so beautiful!!! : D

  • enchanting!!!!

  • I wanna be a snowflake ;))) ♥

  • c'est féerique <3

  • Compare this with the Royal Ballet performance and choreography, see: Snow Fairies. I think the Royal Ballet fairies are much prettier!

  • I loved this part of the ballet still do. =)

  • My Long life dream is being in the nutcracker ballet as a snowflake then hoping to step up to the sugar plum fiary i would do anything to fufill this dream I am 12 years old and im in pre point and soo excited tog et my point shoes i have been doing abllet since i was 3 ! • @danamariegordon haha Black Swan taught me that.

  • ballet <3

  • And we should all be grateful that gay people like Tchaikovsky made this world more beautiful to live in.

  • i want to do ballet SO BADLY, i've seen the nutcracker every year since I can remember, and i've been so envious of their grace and perfection. i'm setting it as one of my life goals to go en pointe someday.

  • The things I would do to play Clara.... *wistful sigh* Beautiful ballet

  • @LouiseIsNotListening Clara doesn't do anything after this variation lol. She just rides in a carriage to a bunch of different countries. If anything, you should be the Sugar Plum fairy. That's what I want to be.

  • Amazing :-)

  • i love ballet its is so pretty!! im acully going to be in Alice in Wonderland the ballet im so excited! i have been practing so hard!

  • was that a f-ing Oompa loompa?

  • everyone love this variation!!!!

  • whoah ive never seen that before

  • dude ballet looks hard!

  • Comment removed

  • The Nutcracker is when your trying to get into the Club and the Bouncer does, well you know, the "Nutcracker" (he grabs your Balls HARD), and yeah it hurts like a motherfucker

  • beautiful...

  • so perfect and in sync! i am a snowflake in ballet and our never looks this pretty

  • I'm in tears...it's so precious...makes me fly away to a sweet and dreamy realm far away.....

  • i love ballet but ive been in the nutcracker 2 times and i love snow but at our company the Snow Queen is at center and is lifted up by the king and shes in a pase and a whole bunch of snow falls its BEAUTIFAL!!!! it makes me cry every time!!! :)

  • 1:30 - 1:37 is perfect. i love her those 7 seconds

  • Dear ol' Tchaik! A genius forever. Thanks for posting. Kurt.

  • I can't get why disliking a video has become something that anyone can mock. I thought that everyone had the right to like or dislike whatever they want, that's why the dislike button is there. I know people who don't listen to classical music and have much more sentiments and emotions than a lot of douches who listen to it and try to show off by saying how great the music they like is. I find it rather hyporcitic to tell people off because of their tastes

  • My favorite thing about Communism is Mikhail Baryshnikov.

  • she is a feather!

  • i really love ballet ..... tats y i alway see new videos with ballet in them.... i even wacth this anime Princess Tutu is really cool.

  • This video is the reason why i love ballet sooooooo much it just melts my heart away and the music omg the whole thing isnt beautiful it isnt pretty it isnt sensational THERE IS ACTUALLY NO WORD THAT CAN DESCRIBE HOW EXTRODINARY AND POWERFUL BALLET IS. I hav to watch this video at least once a week because it is truely phenomamel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im left breathless everytime

  • Little angels

  • 1:05 i came out but not in this ballet in another company its very hard

  • the movement is so....fluent....gentle

  • So many bad and good memories to this Variation hahaha :)

  • Well, i dont know why i clicked it not my thing really.I can see why people like it tho :)

  • i saw it on monday it was brilliant :)

  • Archipova and Mukhamedov are spectacular, and the choreography excellent. At 1:28, it is magical because he takes 3 steps supporting each grand jeté. The Royal Ballet tried something like this, but much slower, and not the same effect, though they had falling "snow" which was nice. Years of hard work and discipline to create the beauty... and not to forget the composer!

  • Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

  • beautiful

  • love it

  • She is incredible!

  • Oh! The 16 bars that start at 1:28 are magically, breathtakingly gorgeous. She really seems to float through the air!

  • wow, amazing dancing! :) i may only be 15, but ive been lucky enough to grow up with grandparents that take me to ballets, and nutcracker is by far my favourite :D the music is beautiful aswell <3

  • very together i love snow!!!(i mean in the nutcracker)

  • Merry Christmas .

  • I've been a snowflake. My first ever tutu.

  • beautiful classic choreography. thanks for posting.

  • I love this so much I can't even express. I'm just bummed that we didn't get to see the whole thing!

  • Beautiful, thanks for posting.

  • it looks like she's flying. absolutely brilliant

  • 51 melted snowflakes...

  • thumbs up if you LOVE ballet

  • By far my favorite part of the entire ballet. I would kill to be a snowflake.

  • @KcAriaGirl "Kill" and "Snowflake" - not two words you usually hear in the same sentence, haha. Ballet is so vicious, but perdy.

  • @ohdontpanic42 I'm assuming you can't Kill a Snowflake...

  • @KcAriaGirl what about me, i'd like to born another time, to look like Arkhipova... or, at less, to give birth of my daughter who'll become as her

  • I laughed so hard when I read your comment - thanks for making a gray, rainy day bright.

I think you would also love George Balanchine's Diamonds, because there are some obvious "snowflake" moments. Both the costumes and the choreography relate directly to the Nutcracker dance of the snowflakes. The Paris Opera Ballet has a great version of Mr. B's Jewels (including Diamonds) on DVD. Look for the clip on YouTube.

  • @KcAriaGirl Me too! I'm 16 now and started a little bit over a year ago. I'm just starting to get up on pointe and so excited to be a snowflake in December!

  • @musicluvdance Whoa. That's awesome especially to just be getting en pointe. Be careful though.

  • This is my favorite part of the ballet--completely magical--helped by Tchaikovsky's marvelous score--it speaks to children and adults at the same time--no mean feat. We both go to a mystical place far from the cares of the world. More snowflakes please!

  • I'm seeing the Nutcracker tomorrow :D

  • not ethereal enough

  • wait so.......

can black girls be snowflakes too?

    lol seriously, they're all white....

  • Man, i saw The Nutcracker here in Portugal by the Moscow Tchaikovsky Ballet (it does have former Bolshoi Ballet dancers and more) company and i absolutely loved it.

    It really was superb! :D

Funny how i never thought i would say this! Now i want more! xD

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!! Saw the Nutcracker somewhere in BC (don't wanna give out my location lol) and it was AWESOME!!!!!

  • what is that squeel thing that keeps popping up? it sound like static

    BEAUTIFUL dancers

  • i've sang the aw's in the nutcracker<3 such a fun experience

  • Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So beautiful!!! I love the nutcraker!!!:)

  • Beautiful:D

  • I've seen the Nutcracker in person at least 20 times. This is the best dance of the snowflakes ever--just magical.

  • Omg they look like they're floating :)

  • I'm watching this beautiful scene while eating pizza. :)

  • I don't know, they look a bit clunky...

ha ha ha I'm joking! Very beautiful :)

  • 1:29 - 1:42 talk about defying gravity lol

  • @XxMcFlyAngelxX agreed! That was pretty insane and so beautiful!

The leading lady was so graceful. Her extensions were gorgeous and her landings were so soft! I have no dancing lingo in my dictionary so sorry if i'm totally butchering these words. Either way, this dance was gorgeous in the end. :)

  • my feet hurt just by looking at this.. but besides that.. beautiful, absolutely beautiful(:

  • TIPPY TIPPY TIPPY WHEE

  • @DBCOOPER888 ballerinas are nor insecure. some football players take ballet to build up their muscles! you're insecure because you don't like the sport/art/dance.

try to appreciate other people's likes. :P

  • our nutcracker in Kodiak had the same-ish kinda music, I was a Page! :)

  • OMFG!! O_O

    3:06

    that's awsome!! :D jajaja

  • i came to this video to learn something about ballet for my music apreciation class, but all i learned is that ballerinas are pissted off at society lol i dont know if i should include that on my essay...

  • @alekssr7

haha im in the same situation right now, i hate this ballet bullshit! haha

  • this vidoe is about christmas bacause I see a christmas tree

  • this is what most weak people say, especially boys: "Do you see how twirly and dumb looking ballernina's are? At least they don't have to have any mucsules like us football players do."

well, then other people who dont do ballet, you are W-R-O-N-G!

  • Ballet dancers are athletes in their own right. I noticed how muscular they are.

  • They have no idea how demanding dance is of any genre, I do feel for your being under appreciated for the incredible talent and dedication you have.

  • Just performed the full suite last night. No contest who has the harder job though - at least we get to sit down in the orchestra! I can imagine how tiring it must be for a ballerina...

  • beautiful

  • 2:26

what kind of turns are those? they look like they're climbing up or staying in plie or something?

  • @sillisilvia

    those are piqué's

  • My brother thinks that all you need to do this is a pair of pointe shoes and some balance. The 1,953 people that liked this proved him wrong.

  • If I were running this production I would fire the costume designer in a heartbeat. Those little head cap things all the snowflakes are wearing are ugly, there are about 60 things wrong with the Nutcracker's outfit and I am not sure if I would stick with the little flake things in the dancers hands, I can't tell if they augment or detract from the choreography.

  • @toppless09 God, calm down. Every ballet school has their own idea of how the Nutcracker is, along with their costumes. If you don't like it, then go on some other video and watch that, or just keep your mouth shut.

  • You guys would like the "NutCracker"

  • We Were Watching A Version Of This On The Smart Board And People Were Laughing. I Was Like, " Yall Don't Even Know How Hard It Is."

  • Holy Crap! This Is Freaking Awesome Ballet!

  • The Snowflakes sequence is so beautiful and magical! I love this sequence!

  • I can't even clap my hands to a rhythm and these people are running and jumping around, perfectly in sync. AND they manage to not get any wedgies in their tights!

  • ssssssssooooooooooooooo cool

  • Truly beautiful. Tchaikovski was brilliant. It is ironic that he as well as many music critic dismissed The Nutcracker as being too romantic and tepid. My children adore the music and we got to see the magnificient perfromance at Lincoln Center last year. They were awe struck.

  • Lovely, Tchaikovsky's least favorite composition, ironically! Thank you for posting, happy holidays! One love!

  • I like the ahhh ahhhhh part at 1:13
