I love Steve Zungul he was the greatest . I used to pretend to be him when I was a kid playing soccer with my friends. He was the greatest and I wore number 7 when I played because I wanted to be like him.
Indoor soccer is so different from outdoor. Players like Preki , who were awesome indoors, were just average outdoors. Preki played for the US national team.
Well, I'm looking forward to PASL-Pro games this winter. I know Texas Outlaws vs San Diego Sockers doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but at least the PASL doesn't do dumbass things, like use basketball scoring or make goalkeepers serve their own bench penalties.
WOW. San Diego Sockers were the deal!!! Never seen anything like them since. What a dynasty!!!! Loved going to the sports arena for their Victories~!!!!
I followed the MISL for years when I was a kid. HUGE Wichita Wings fan!! Didn't know Zungul played for Tacoma. Always thought he played for NY & San Diego. Thanks for posting!
@paintballscore Funny thing... I'm Steve Zungul's daughter and I can tell u that the real reason he sold that house was NOT because he could not climb those stairs. My brothers and I worked those 10 acres (when we owned all 10) every morning and evening, as we got older and more involved with our extracurricular activities it got hard to take care of...
@paintballscore ...Learn some respect, my father built a beautiful home that you obviously dont seem to appreciate, but we did and I would buy that house back in a heartbeat. PS Dont swear on the Bible... it is a sin.
@szungul3 your father was the best player in the world in those years, then it is Hajduk ruin because he was not given to sign a contract with FC Cosmos, so Žungul on his hand went to the USA. I would have done the same thing. Respect Usput nadam se da nisi zaboravila svoj jezik.
This would be a great sport if perhaps they moved it outdoors, increased the number of players to 11 each, made the nets bigger, removed the side boards, increased the size of the field, played it on grass.
Ahh, the good old days of the MISL. I remember going to the Cleveland Force and Crunch games in the 1980's and early 90's before the original MISL folded. I hated the Balamore Blast and Dallas Sidekicks.
I know some people from Tacoma who to this day point to Papaleo's move to Dallas the very next season as evidence to backup their claim that he threw game seven of the 1987 MISL finals. Tacoma Whine - made from the best sour grapes of the Pacific northwest. ^_^
Well, I'm sure you had teams you hated when they came to town. Plus I wasn't a big Tatu fan rubbing it in peoples faces when he scored a goal by throwing his jersey into the seats. I bet that's one of the reasons the original MISL folded because he kept throwing his shirt away and it mounted up. Lol
I've got the VHS of Games 4, 6 and 7 for the 87' Kicks-Stars championship Series. Great stuff, especially if you're a Dallas fan...

Footloose? Worst music ever. Better off with foot thunder only.

Those were the 80's. :)

Maybe but to me the '80s musically was Echo & the Bunnymen, Psychedelic Furs, Three O'Clock, Bangles, Stone Roses, Lloyd Cole, etc.
BiffScooter1 2 years ago
OH, definitely for ME, TOO. However, I went with what they were playing at the Tacoma Dome for STars matches, not the cool indie stuff they didn't.

i know! that sport could have a huge following.
and maybe it could have a major tournament every 4 years.
if only there was such a sport.

It was a great game, until they messed with the "three line" rules, and the flow of the action was killed.

that was Joe Papaleo, who also played for Tacoma.
