Your diaphragm separates your upper visceral cavity from your lower one. The part of your colon called your transverse colon sits directly below the diaphragm. When you take in a deep breath, the diaphragm is forced down into the abdominal cavity, "squishing" down your transverse colon assisting with digestion.
@doh1959 You have to think of what happens when the air fills up your ENTIRE lungs... where do the lungs expand to? What happens to other organs, ligaments, viscera, etc. as the lungs expand? What happens to the nervous system when breathing deepens, muscles relax? I can have a bowel movement JUST from breathing deeply into my lower lungs. Give it an honest try - for at least 5 - 10 minutes and you'll see a shift, somewhere.

Hmmm, that's not something I thought about - how egocentric am I?! I would think that massaging with a closed fist would help you to dig deeper. Your other option would be to lie on top of a ball about 3-4" diameter and roll around on top of it - this is a yoga technique called Yamuna Body Rolling.
BTW have started her on probitoic yoghurt drinks to put the friendly bacteria back into her gut. She normally goes to the toilet every day, but this week has not been so good. I thought some exercise would get the gut moving a little too (I know horses can get poor gut function if not allowed much movement). The pain is likely from trapped gas - hence the bloating. But if you've been constipated or irregular for more than a few months, you likely have a build up of impacted fecal matter and 'bad' bacteria. Your diarrhea is "explosive" because you have a lot of gas. Getting it out would seem to be a good thing to me... Now you need to examine your diet and bacterial flora to discover why you have so much gas in your colon.
