It's not necessary to go all the way to checkmate. Usually when there is a big material disbalance that would make it fruitless to defend it is customary for the weaker side to resign before inevitable checkmate.
White's going to queen her 'a' pawn. Then she'll be able to checkmate black quickly. Even 34 seconds on the clock will be ample and it's black that's behind on time. I couldn't see Skripchenko check the clock though. Maybe she's good at doing that out of the corner of her eye...
I find the cuts to members of the audience watching the game a little bit distracting as I'm trying to concentrate on the 2-D board. Great game though!
Very well presented - I find it instructive to hear what you saw and what you missed during the game! Opening preparation insights are also quite useful :-)
one advice: try not to call out the moves too much, but concentrate on commenting. We see what's going on on the board, we'd rather hear your excellent explanations. Other than that, nice videos!
This is charming. dexterous minds amaze me.

Don't you have to do a checkmate to win? The king was safe at the end.
What am I missing?

Alexandra is like a russian female Bobby Fischer
BrooklynNY1992 3 years ago
I can't really see Alexandra running away to Iceland for the rest of her life. She also doesn't seem very anti-Semitic

When I said she was like Bobby Fischer I was saying that her talent is similar to him.

I know, but I couldn't resist. :)

Did someone mention Fischer? Thou shalt not call Noddy Fischer 'anti-Semitic', after all the good in the world I've done!!!

well... Fischer was somewhat of a nutjob, albeit a brilliant chessplayer

THANKS FOR POSTING MORE!!!
I must say however, not playing g3 or Be3 (to win the Knight)is a rather strange oversight for such a strong player

Kramnik fell into mate in one against Fritz. They aren't perfect.
griff868686 3 years ago
Yes of course, but that was playing a match and going at the end of what was probably a 4 hour game. Kramnik also has health problems sometimes.

And somebody give a thumbsd up - OBJECTIVELY it's still a strange error.
