  • @gmclark2007 @ I will take your word for it but at 0:13 it shifted like an automatic, unless I was hearing the truck. Both have GM motors so its safe to say that both may have very similar exhaust notes!

I finished up my last one 2 years ago & had to get rid of it after doing $800 of work & swapping out heads I had it for 3 more days & some jackass broke into it, popped my hood, stole my battery, cut my wiring harness beyond repair, took my head unit, a 1 month old jl comp sub, smashed my windows, cut my seats, stole my tinted tail lights, but not my projectors & left the damn remote start -_-.. & "full coverage" insurance wouldn't cover shit.....

  • Was there any clearance issues when you put this engine in the truck? Also what transmissions does it bolt up to? I'm not sure if my 5 speed is the same bolt pattern.

  • @wolfman5494 I notched the cross member to run the truck oil pan but you dont have to if your running a slimmer style pan..im running a 4l60e trans

It's very rare that I let it hit the limiter but we were going from a 30 roll and I needed to be at a high rpm on the jump for great results but I didnt realize just how quick the rpms climbed and by the time I manually shifted into 2nd it was to late..she caught the rev limiter and I lost the race like a dumbass..

  • @gmclark2007 well that kinda stuff happens.. i occasionally miss shift when i'm in a rush to hit 3rd my truck. again cool truck. i don't care what someone drives. if they deserve the props i give it to them.

  • @CarefullySleek yea man the best run was 12.33 at 110 in the 1/4 mile with a 1.74 60ft all motor..since then I have removed the 3.42s for 3.90s and should run a little better

  • @wolfman5494 subtract 8 grand off of the 30,000 as that included the price of the truck. I did most of the work myself but somethings I had to let the shop handle as I'm in college and don't have the garage and tools needed to do everything like I had back home. these high end parts add up real quick. I just dropped another grand on a set of control arms(TRZs). only the best on this truck!

  • @gmclark2007 alright, cuz i've seen what people have done on s10s and 30 grand is the highest reported i have seen.

  • Regular cab s-10s are the number 3 cause of suicide. Try riding in one for more than 30 minutes. Too cramped but that is one sick ass truck. Keep it up man!

  • @mjakaa I made sure to put those fat ass leather blazer seats in for a good ride, but yea it can be quite cramped sometime. That's why I have the Yukon for a daily driver;)

  • @mjakaa and it doesn't hurt that im only 5'10" 150lbs... I make three hour trips all the time with perfect comfort(on the drivers side, passenger side is a bit more cramped) while getting 27mpg

  • a lower shift point mph into 2nd and would have been even closer.... impressive

  • Regardless of the fact the vette won, that S10 runs hard...perfect sleeper without forced induction...nice job!

    Granted the LS6 powered Z06 is an entirely different animal from thre LS7, the fact LS6 had to work for the win is still impressive.

  • you can build a budget s10 with a LS motor for right under 10 grand, but this was no budget build. I've used only the best of the best for this truck. a lot of time and research was put into EVERY part that was place on this unit from the best Yank stall convertor, FLT transmission, ThunderRacing cam and valve train...the list goes on and I have over 30,000 in receipts(including the 8,000 for the truck in 2004)...you can take a look on my channel and find a post where I listed some of the mods

  • wow how much does a z06 cost? an u barely beat a 5000 dollar truck with lets be so very generous with 25000 in the motor swap included? z06 loses its ass in the long run as far as money is concerened

  • @GKDSoldier Well lets be honest. That truck probably cost him at least 10 grand, and spent another 10 grand for the motor and all the work putting it in. It's probably more like a 20-25,000 truck. Right there with a used Z06 of this model. Now, for the same money i'd rather have a Z06. It's much more "tuneable" than the truck.

  • @DwnNvr ok but lets say take a bone stock 5.3 an a bone stock ls6 or what ever is in the vette (cause i sure as hell dont know) an lets do a heads an cam swap with the dyno tune to make it run right which one would be cheaper? my bet would be the 5.3

  • @DwnNvr ..dude what? $10K? No. That truck stock is like 4 or 5 tops. the engine is like another 1,000 and a few more in upgrades and custom work. I';d say $10K total, tops.

  • @67mustangreg No. Lol. The engine is 3-4K cylinder heads is at least 1k if not 2k. For my old ford focus for ONE head I was going to spend at least 1k.. The cam is 200 not including new retainers/springs. Lets not forget there is many more pieces to do a swap, I just don't feel like getting into it that deep. The cheapest 1500 i could find that was in good shape such as this truck was 6,500. And i'll say a good 2,500 to have it all done. This is dare bone.

  • @DwnNvr LMAO 1k for a OEM f.o.r.d. head? that's ridicules, for a DSM you can get a nice built head for around 2-3k... or on a subaru you can get 2 COSWORTH heads complete except cams for around $4000

    used 5.3 out of a 1/2 ton should run you $1500 with the wiring and ECU... then figure $1000 for a completely forged internal rebuild

  • @DwnNvr why would you waste money trying to make a zetec/duratec(assuming) engine into a performance engine? just because SVT did doesn't make it one, the motor was built so you could get 30+mpg and be more reliable then any prior ford engines(like the POS 4.0)

    and by the way "port and polish" is bad, polishing the intake reduces fuel atomization, hence less complete burn causing worse gas mileage and wasted potential.

  • @miniimoto95 Simply stating the facts. SVT did a poor job on the focus. The duratec can become a performance engine much easier than the zetec, however there are 400+hp zetec engines out there being DD. Also, when you port and polish the head it obviously varies with eah type of head because you don't port or polish the entire head because of what you said. However, throwing a number out like 75% of it being PP the remaining 25% would allow for atomization would still cause a desired effect.

  • @miniimoto95 lol how many times has that happened with major shops? I have a 370z and if I wanted to get it supercharged I would go to Stillen. Haven't seen any issues with their kits yet. If I had waited and bought a C6 Z06, I would take it to Hennesy for their CA smog legal kits, haven't seen issues with those... You don't take your car to some mom and pop shop, you gotta pay to play...

  • @psmTARDCORE true enough, i would trust performance shops like Hennesy, or STM who have great reputations.... my problem is with just normal shops and stealerships..... i have only let anybody else work on any of my cars once(stealership mechanic... temporary plug the coolant lines to the heater core so i could drive home and replace it without worrying about overheating) and i looked over everything, before i started the engine.... i don't trust random fuckers nor do i pay them.
