As a thirtyish guy who cut my comedy teeth on Benny Hill at a year and a half old, I would like to give a shot at explaining the basic premise of Tim and Eric's whole gig.

It's *parody*. Every bad acting scene in a B-Movie, every emetic corporate slogan or commercial, every team building exercise, and even day to day shit that frankly is kinda bizarre on it's own... they do at the same time, in every skit. It's complexity is seen not as "weird", but as the point- you have to decode it.

@captainmorgan555 Well, the reason why is perception. What happens is somebody evaluates an ENTIRE BODY OF WORK based on their first 1 to 2 viewings of it. The problem is, people don't think something is funny when it has to be explained. Dilbert is one of my favorite comics ever, but as soon as I try to explain it to someone else who doesn't read the strip, it's not funny. Same with Mr. Plinkett. Tim and Eric is humor that is either instantly funny or takes a while, and people are impatient.
