  • Jesus is LORD

  • @jimmys47 shut the fuck up

  • These two boys are walking National Treasures.

  • absolutely beautiful!! we don't have this great music anymore. i love it now as much as i did then. love ya. 54 susie q

  • Brilliant

  • this 1 dislike is almost shear proof of evolution. that some of them had fallen out the family trees, and landed on there heads. just goes to show ya that since "they" have made laws to protect idiots they seem to breed to often. Oh Lord help us.

  • you cannot beat either one. saw them in person in tennessee ,omg!!

  • merle did an interview with rolling stone very good read has stopped cigarettes but still communes with nature smart man very talented will never be another even close

  • @BLONDILOX1956 I agree with you. I am from Bakersfield and to me the man is almost a God, I say almost beause I believe in God

  • I've lived long enough to boast that I heard Willie when he was just a crass wannabee. Then he evolved into an authentic Master when he finally got generous, and is now a towering Legend, a National Treasure, and vintage gem of a soul, as well as a damn great singer. Thanks, Dad.

  • 'spose he's still "laughing at the price tag that we pay"?

He's reason for quittin' just got HUGE!

  • i refus to leave this earth till i s th HAGE live

  • look my site up its real

  • music like this brings tears to my eyes ..... tells the real story of life most of it mine

  • you go Linebacker

  • Reasons to Quit. you forget to take your guitar pick out from between the strings while getting your picture took.

  • good stuff

  • I don't know any other singer that sounds as good as Mr. Haggard and he just had a lung operation. Let us just enjoy him. Mike's Mom

  • Lots of true words in this one! BTDT myself too!

Another way to say like Shaver: Try and try again!

Or like Willie: Pick up the tempo just a lttle and take it on home..

    Take care!

Love, peace and hope to all the real music lovers out there!

    The Doc

  • Hit #6 in Billboard, 4-2-83. God bless! Hope Merle has wisely quit smokin' since then. If he hasn't, he's not only hurtin' himself, but also everybody that loves him, by committin' slow suicide. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg ummm buddy hes seventy domething years old..if i was tht old i think id smoke me a few cuz hes already living on borrowed time

  • Comment removed

  • @shaneshopnet I almost guarentee most of the people liked it but just wouldnt admit it... just remember you were country when country wasn't cool

  • While I never sought 'peace' in smoke, there was a time when I sought that peace they speak of in good Irish whiskey. so thank you mi outlaws ... while I enjoy a good Portland beer!

    Ride on cowboys!!!

  • nothing like the Hag. Now this is country music people. Nothing like the stuff today

  • @WilliamPierce38 The stuff today is pure garbage.....it's an insult to even compare

  • willie and merle nothing beats that!

  • We keep roarin' down the dast lane

like two young men feelin' no pain.

  • @Twinhit

    dast??? How'd I mispell that?

Must not have been payin' attention.

    Gotta love Willie's instrumental break

  • I dedicate this to my nephew Lil Rang Dingo he could never keep up with his uncles anyway.

  • Thanks for sharing this video.

    Cheers from Belgium

    Eric - Studio ChinChan

  • when i was a baby i would never fall sleep unless merle and willie were playing.

  • i still have that problem and Im 32

  • You older fellas calm down. Classic rock, & no, I mean the Animals to Bad Company, is the 'rock' myself, brother, cousins, & high school buddies listen to, although a little Metalica & STP doesn't hurt either. Other than a few artists, most country on the radio isn't country either, so don't give up on all the youth. Common sense and good taste does still exist with young folks today, you just have to know where to look.

  • I have always loved this song. A comment on today's youth. My Dad raised me on country music, and I have been a fan every since. Even though my favorite song is Simple Man by Skynyrd.

I spent alot of time with my daughters through the years listening to country. They are both grown now and they are good girls. They may crank up the rap with their friends, but when I hear a Hank song coming from their room I smile and get a warm feeling. I know they listen to that cause of daddy.

  • Such a great song, it has an amazingly good Point and lyrics and yet you look at some of your youth today they look at you like why the heck are you listening to country all kids ever want to do today is rock out. I know some kids who wish that country music had never existed unaware that if this music never existed neither would rocknroll. It is just so sickning it is amazing what the youth today miss out on.What's happening to this world today?.

  • I hate in when the song is in a weird key like A#. Makes it harder for me to play along on my guitar. :(

  • Just play it in A or count the chords using the nashville number system. You will get it. Just keep praticing. I used to say the same thing...now I have written several songs in Am :)

  • With all due respect, the 'Nashville number system' was discovered by the French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau in 1742 (?) Check it out.

  • I've first heard this song 8 yers ago.I haven't heard it since,thanks its a beauty.

  • Its been nearly fifteen years and I have not had a drink by the Grace of God. One day at a time.

I do not miss the pain.

    Thank you Willie

  • Laddie good for you,one day at a time!!1

  • 26 yrs for me

  • Willie found the perfect alternative to booze.

  • Well Done!

  • Good for you. I'm still at that point where all the reasons to quit don't outnumber all the reasons why. I hope you know what I mean.

    I'm happy for you though.

  • Trying to quit, havn't had a smoke for a day and a half, but booze on the other hand, i'll take it when i can.

  • Such good music. This kinda music wil never die..... I hope! so much better then the stuff that is produced today.

  • Great song but not written by Merle Haggard. The real writer was Merle's next door neighbor at his ranch and he lives in Mexico now.

  • where is lazydaysleeper

  • I love this song. Ironically, I tend to tie one off to it. I think it has a very accurate message though.

  • Murder on music row..... :(

  • Young man, this is indeed a great song. But there are many good songs across all genres of music. I love to see young people express themselves with the music of their choice. That doesn't mean that values have changed all that much and things from the past don't have meaning. It's just 'different strokes for different folks'. Don't hate.

  • good music, right? Are you people fans?

  • i like to get drunk and leave my life behind to this song

  • amen brother.

  • this their america change you can believe in,alright they changed prayer in school, now guns showed up, they cheapen life where HUMANE BEINGS KILL THEIR OFFSPRING i aint believed in none of their fuckin changes,so why expect something goog from THEM

  • well merle has a new reason to quit now it seems good luck merle we love you

  • I am so gratful that

you posted this song my mother

    and grandmother not only played

this son but every thing willie ever!

recorded thank you so much for sharing

  • Wisdom:-)

  • I heard the same thing about Warren. One thing is for certain, Merle Haggard won't be invited to sing at his inauruation. We have truly dumbed ourselves down to lifeless husks to allow this to happen & ignore the realities.

  • No creative artists like merle or willie can get a record "executive" to listen to anything original anymore, so they're all workin' day jobs...now that we're becoming more like europe, this kind of music is going to be even more rare...goodbye sweet America

  • We have become a bunch of mindless idiots. What ever happened to the Ron Reagans of this country?

  • I'm afraid that most of them are in the graveyards of America, or in rest homes singing "This world is not my home, I'm only passing through..." But we had some good years before this miserable, selfish, bunch of thugs took over...we need a THIRD PARTY if the nation is to survive - call it the "Party of Righteousness"

  • You are absolutely correct my friend. A third party would shake up both parties to find themselves. I have no faith in the democratic party but to see the conservative base lose it's core values & pander to socialistic/Marxist causes....well I am apalled. The liberal baby-boomers are so ignorant as to believe the demogogues represent the common man in the same way Merle Haggard always has in his songs. Nothing, and I mean nothing could be any further from reality!! We sold America out!!

  • I try to post conservative ideas on sites like youtube or comments boxes at blogs like drudge etc. Sometimes there is an opportunity to bring conservative ideas to someone who has NEVER really heard conservatives, because they go to school with nothing but marxist/socialist teachers & professors & listen to liberal news programs because there is no other choice in middle America as far as news goes - keep on keepin on KMA

  • I recently had to fight this nasty battle in our church! Can you believe that? Needless to say, my family left. This is what is coming down to my friend. Western Eurpoean ideals is disguising itself. We are surrounded my ignorance & stupid people. Merry Christmas & don't forget it's your patriotic duty to pay more taxes. God help us all!

  • It is sickening to read that 25% of those who call themselves "evangelicals" (they certainly are NOT Christians) voted for obama, a supporter of violent partial birth abortion. And goes to a "church" that applauds: "goddamnamerica" - NOW I hear that rick warren -the "purpose driven" evangelical will be at the chicago thug's inauguration. It's hard for a rich man like warren to walk by faith & not "yoke" himself with president thug..dippy aretha franklin will probably sing a "gospel" song.

  • Talk about a song hitting home. WOW!!! Those reasons to quit don't out number all the reasons why!!! How true!!!

  • Too bad they won't play them on country music radio no more.

  • It isn't really country music on the radio anymore; it's "cartoon country". Radio has killed itself with such stupidity. Real country music is out there, though, it has nothing to do with the Industry.

  • i agree, the only 2 ways i found this is the internet, and i found this tape in my dad's collection,i also looked up its my lazy day and its nowhere to be found

  • where i live there is a radio station that plays nothing but the old country music like willie, waylon, the possum, hank, and all the good ones. im 16 years old and that is all that is on my radio in my truck. my father raised me on old fashioned beliefs and old country music and even through all the crap that goes along with my generation i still hold my ground and stick to my beliefs like my fathers generation and his fathers generation did. lets hope the good times aren't really over for good

  • well said son

  • You stick in there. Raise your kids the same way, you ain't alone and one day we'll all stand shoulder to shoulder and take our country back.

  • if i were a very rich person--i would make sure the country music awards nowdays on tv would have to get a new title--they may be talanted but it sure is not country--so why cant they rename it---did you see george jones or mention of merle to name just a few that really could sing country---in this small town where i live we wanted to get up a petition -----made us feel better anyway

  • you must know there's some really good music out there, not just all crap..

  • like folk pop music awards. Ilisten to the new generation and they all sound the same. Remember when you tell a chevy or a ford or a dodge with one quick glance, even know the year. Now they are all the same. Old country, I hear the tone of the guitar and know if it is Willie, or Merle, or Buck Owens Golden Years ain't no such thing, Golden years are past

  • @jerdeb4evr I know exactly what your talking about I drive a 65 Ranchero and keep Waylon blasting now everything is too much alike nothing is original anymore.TC

  • im only in my 20's but hell i'm glad there's sum young ones who like real country music

  • @linebacker62 I know where you're coming from. I am now 48 years and have been listening to country since my father turned me onto it when I was 8. The traditional country music is the music I was raised on and is the only kind I prefer. Its nice to see that there are still young people around that apprecate the importance of this style of music. Thanks for expressing yoursef so well

  • @vicfirthboy52 did your dad also teach you that "appreciate" is spelt with an "e" at the beginning?

  • @Maxwelldub and is your dad the one that tought you to make fun of people?

  • @Maxwelldub "Spelt"!!! Watch casting those stones because sometimes they come back to hit you in the vocabulary!! Spelt?????

  • @coleyman1 Ha, fair enough.

  • @linebacker62 ...... i agree...... look at the old music compared to todays music....talk about a generation gap. I am 12 and i love the old music.......i love going up north and listening to Willie Nelson and old singers like that. My father is the same way, he raised me with old fashioned beliefs. Like you said....lets hope the good times arent over for good.

  • @linebStand your ground. You will always encounter those who will call you a hater or whatever but I grew up on good southern rock and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Your generation is doomed.acker62

  • @linebacker62 HORRIBLE

  • @linebacker62 Glad to hear your comments .... to much of todays generations is caught up in todays world and think they are greater than the rest of us

  • Comment removed

  • @linebacker62 thats awsome man im 17 and im the same way i pretty much just listen to old country i miss the old ways of doin things i hate all the new crap that goes on now days like punk rock, rap, hip hop, and pop i hate pretty much it all but country
