In case you didn't know Telegraphtv, we have boats and water beds. Can't conquer water striding any better than that. Too much energy would be exerted in trying to "Jump" without breaking water tension to be practical.
OMFG how can you not appriciate how great this is? No it does not have a puepose, but the beauty is that it replicates real insects, which is an amazing achievement (and can be very useful eventually)
@assimilatordk We have water beds and boats now. I think we have conquered water striding at it's very best practicality. They need to do more with Bees and their ability to completely freeze and survive (Time travel, if you will).
Come on, have a little vision. For example the resitance is minum. If this can be applied on a large scale or such it could lead to a very efficient type of boat.
Of coarse it's not simple just like that (what about waves, minimum spread distances etc.) but you get nowhere if you keep thinking inside the box.
Yeah, cuz that's what we need really is bouncing robots on water. I mean, we've got starving children and threats of war, and plaid coming back into fasion (really, people...plaid!), and what we really need is a robot that can bounce on the water. I feel that would bring us all closer together as a species.
Something that floats on water takes advantage of its own buoyancy, breaking the surface of the water, but, when at rest, resistant to becoming wholly submerged. These robots, which model various "water strider" insect species, instead travel across the top of the water with no part of them breaching the surface due to the cohesion of H2O molecules.
It isn't floating, it is moving only on the surface of the water. There is a distinct, yet subtle difference.
WTF ??!! Why the hell do they need to make robots to do things like this ???!! I think things like this is a goverment plan to secretly train and produce robots for the N.W.O. D: !!!!!!! (Sorry if this is 90% off topic)
dude... your robot is a motor over styrofoam. It doesn't TRULY walk over water at all, it floats over water... but then again anything would float on water with huge styrofoam feet.
technologies exploded because of the industrial revoulution and developing a nation of educated workforces to mass produce those technologies that greatly improves our day to day lives.
The point of us making such a scientific advancement is to keep you safe at the home your in. Without these lifeless people who somehow find these things out we wouldn't be a country so technologically advanced therefore we wouldn't have such money that you would like for us to provide to non-profit orgs.
Hmmm, clever, but I mean whats the point in developing a little robot to jump on water? Wouldnt that money go further if it was donated to help poor starving children?
who is paying for this useless crap?

why the fuck do we need bouncing water robots?
magecaster163 6 months ago 7
@magecaster163 Really??? I would of thought it is rather quite obvious...
lukebable 5 months ago
@magecaster163 Because robots are going to be the new police one day. And they need to be able to go any where after any thing. Simple. lol
