@tommyboynude Did you hear the airhorns and tones halfway through the video? Those are evacuation tones - that means up until that point the fire was fought on the inside and thus you wouldn't have seen any hoselines. As soon as they exited the building, an exterior attack was set up with hoselines and the master stream pipe from the ladder. They were definitely fighting the fire... just because you can't see it (due to them being inside or the camera man's angle) doesn't mean they weren't.
those guys at 4:45 were fucking battling on the second floor.....good shit. they might of stopped it if they did'nt get pulled out right as they were making progress.
Do you experts want to know what is happening here?
Multiple pronged attack on a balloon frame that has good head way. Lines inside on the first, second and attic at once.
Balloon frame. First hint is the windows all inline. Second hint is the fire travel. instead of branching throughout the first floor the fire went straight to the attic.
PPV has a time and place. Do you know what happens with PPV on this construction? Bye bye is what happen
@KiethSomataw99 if you got close enough with enough pressure to a fire in an enclosed space, you might be surprised...as long as the space will allow the water to convert to enough steam... ie, dont try it on a huge fire but if it is maybe a small room and content it will put them out.... we used to put large room and contents out with a booster set at 12 gpms all day long...new laws and policies say thats impossible today though...
Oh my, i live near 2 wooden houses, i'm a stone house...is it okay for me if one wooden is on fire and i'm the stone one in the middle between the both?
@PringleTrain Yes, the wooden house on the OTHER side of you should be fine....lol I am not a FF, but my opinion would be your house has a better chance to survive than if it was wood. Obviously stone won't burn, roof and especially windows are still vulnerable though.
@ryanlovestosnowboard lol well you should tell your dad to save more houses cause thats his job even if the owner told him somthing. SO lets let it burn and put other houses and lives at risk.
Yea you never let a house burn down even if the owner says it, no matter what dept you work for. You can see the line they had to the backyard burst around 40-45 seconds
regardless man if a family is just moving in even if they dont have anything in the house wouldnt they want to save it.... its our job to save property..... lets put it this way u just bought a house for between 40 to 70k...... even if u didnt have anything in it would u want them to save it too? not trying to sound like an ass or bad mouth just saying think about it
Apparently alot of people on here don't know what a backdraft is, this fire is a long way from being close to a backdraft. A backdraft is when a fire has nearly burnt itself out
maybe if you knew what you were talkin about, you would see the blitz setup to protect exposures. They broke out the windows to vent so they could enter back door.
Looking at the video right from the start i don't understand why they are trying to make an interior attack. Heavy fire on both floors it is time to right this one off and start protecting the exposures.
WOW, this is crazy, why don't they make regulations to use a fireproof paint like Inferno. You have to see Inferno at HARD Lifestyle if you value your home and family.
when you are on the A side of the house you are standing directly under the power lines that are verry likely to fall because the fire is burning right where they hook into the house. i promiss you had they fallen this video would not have been ut on the internet.
ok so then why doesnt the description say something like chief___ on scene with a well involved wood frame SFD with fire showing from sides A,B,C. engine _____ arrived on scene and went into service with a 1 1/3 in line and made and interoir attack. Rescue ____ responded as RIT and medic ____ transported victims to the local hospital. well thats what a real ff or Fire Photographer (me) would put in his description.
Ok then use a positive pressure fan at the front door and open 1 window in the rear of the house. Same effect less damage to the rest of the house. Breaking all windows out has been proven to cause more fire damage then a vent fan.
No ext. attacks.. Blow the windows out only make it grow... first did a great job protecting the neighboring house.. but stop? Are you trying to become big city? Exposure protection is #1 don't want two family's out of a home.. And the guys in the middle ally way what the hell.. the house is wasted.. still advance to Should have a hose line up in about 4mins.. If not your department needs a overhaul them self's.
Surely fogging that up a bit through the windows first would have made one hell of a difference to this entire incident?
Don't you's have quick attack reels there? Here we carry at least 2x38mm with 2 lengths of hose each, flaked, in the lockers ready to go. They take 20 seconds to deploy and we carry 2200 litres of water?
Did u mean INTERIOR attack? And if u did there was an interior attack. The fire was well ahead of these guys, they lost a line that blew and conditions rapidly deteoraited to the point that the IC called for EVAC. There was no stopping that fire.
did they bring in a 2 1/2 for the interior attack? they should have done more hose testing, that would prevent hoses rupturing like that. they should have used that tower ladder instead of using the straight stick for putting water down on it. just some observations from this film. and maybe not have some guys free lancing and breaking those windows giving oxygen to that fire. it did not seem that bad till the did that.
same thing that happened to my house. T.T they were like "oh noes there no pressure in this hydrant." and then i was like "there's one in front of the house behind ours" they took 30 minutes to frigging move to that one and then said it's too far gone!
You give a few long pulses strait through the windows on a fairly low setting and fog it up with an Akron or similar branch. The water turns to steam instantly and chokes the flammable atmosphere...temporarily. Obviously you have to judge it and pulse appropriately..prior to entering*
Why ventilate a hot burning fire, esp without water? All you do is feed it more air>?
Awesome bor keep it up, Get a Roller Pod so the pic looks better, everytime you move around it looks bad, It's great and all, but AHHHHH Never mind, still a great video.
Starting with "risk vs. reward" my question would be; "Was there a report of trapped occupants?" If so, where were the ground ladders to the front of the building to search the areas of the structure not involved in fire?
If the report was "occupants out" this should have been a simple defensive operation. First get a line on exposure #4, then get your master streams going.
The truck is in the wrong position to be able to effectively use it's ladder pipe. PouringO2 into the roof vent is NG.
The fire looks like it had a head start on even the first due crews...at 3 mins theres no point in risking life...master stream it and be done with it darken it down then go in for the kill...big fire...big water...
You're right why vent, it's already venting itself. Well, hooples and Monday morning quarterbacks. There was a problem with the two hydrants in the area, hence the delay in water. Great work on the video dude.
this is probably the worst operating fire company going. they are venting a fire that is already vented through the whole upstairs and eventually the roof because they get exactly 0 gallons of water on the fire i think the whole video. they cant help the line shit the bed to the rear side but boy they dont seem to be to concerned about it. and why try and put the fire out from the rear, go in the front and push it right out the back where it is,and get some guys with a clue, no radio traffic
I hear some radio chatter...It is amazing to watch fire coming out a window that a few minutes before didn't have anything coming out of it---that really shows how fast fire can move. :(
it depends on what they are doing. If they are doing a rescue they shoundt put water in from the outside because they can't tell where the firefighters are inside. But it looks like it is fully involved so they should not have FF's in side.
my sister had a house fire but i never did see the damage
you must have been almost sick to watch everything go up in smoke.
i worked for an alarm monitoring centre and a guy made a joke his house burned down. He said all was melted and it's covered by insurance and was almost joking about it. Amazing how different people handle the same situation.
I am sorry that your sister had to go through that. It must be horrendous to watch all you own literally going up in smoke. It makes my heart sick just to think about it.
Nice video. Good footage. 6 minutes though before getting water on the 2nd floor/attic? Obviously I wasn't there so I don't know the circumstances...what gives?
I agree. It appear that they were having some problem with the water supply as the master stream from the ladder on the "A" side was weak and intermittent.
there is a reason for the delay on the hose line... 1st steps are to vent the fire upwards and protect exposures.. 2nd is to advance hose in on side A. After that additional hose lines can be put into service.
The fire was already vented so why would you wait till the roof was opened??? Your first line should be coming from the unburned side if possible and doesn't have to be going through the front door. It can change during every fire, but having to wait that long for water and having a hose burst is never good since a fire doubles in size every 30 seconds.
yea there is more fire at D side, so I would assume that the 2'1"2 in the rear was a second line put into service. plus how do you know that water was not being given to the interior attack team?
You need to read the smoke. They did the right thing. Go see one of Dave Dodson's classes called "The Art of Reading Smoke." It opened my eyes. Stay low and safe.
I can't understand...they don't use water...just let the house burn...weird!...probably the firemen don't like the landlord!
