I repeat again, anyone who's got the balls to post their work on youtube gets my support. Anyone who sits on the sidelines and criticizes without the balls to post their own work... They are just the yapping dogs of life. Not worth the time of day. Lastly, for the record, to anyone criticizing eugeneconrad... Hes got 43K+ hits on this vid. What have YOU done?
Dude... Youre so busy trolling youre no longer making sense. Ill argue with you if you want, but reread the post you replied to. Youre not just wrong, youre not making sense. Try again, and well go.
Way too many tone-know-it-alls trying to second guess the OP. if you are the master of tone you THINK you are... Make video and let's see YOU get over 35K views! Seriously, post up and go big or keep the negativity to yourself!!
@Kur0y4m4 dude..really!?? bragging about views!?? I could put up a butterfly and get that many views.....Deal with the fact PROFESSIONAL guitarist like myself are telling you your tone sounds like shit...deal with the truth.....
@mjw9363 Coupla problems with what youre saying... 1) Theres not a single video on your profile that YOU uploaded... just random vids. 2) Anyone can criticize someone and SAY that they have masterful tone so they are qualified to bag on others... But just like you most of those critics never PROVE they have tone. 3) You still havent figured out that youre not talking to the guy playing the gold top. I doubt people would pay a "professional" that misses such obvious things.
@Kur0y4m4 I'm not a narcissist who has to put videos of myself on line for some pathetic thumbs up...and wow! you're REALLY smart...anyone who misses that it wasn't you who posted the video CAN'T possibly be a professional guitarist, right!??... LMFAO! I expressed my opinion...deal with it...
@mjw9363 Again...you miss the point. Its not about narcissism. Its about showing and sharing the work youve done. Remember school where you had to show the work you did to achieve the answer? Youre not showing your work. All youre doing is running your mouth.
@Kur0y4m4 OMG!!! Is that YOU wasting that beautiful equipment on the video on your channel!!??? YOU'RE RIGHT..you ARE a bad guitarist....God you could do that crap with a tiny practice amp and a Japanese guitar from Wal Mart...first rule of guitar playing...TUNE...and really...sell that shit...I have the ability to tell within minutes of people I give lessons to if they have it or not...YOU DON'T HAVE IT....donate that shit to someone who could actually use it....
@mjw9363 Yes, Im pretty bad. But I can always get better. You'll still be an all mouth no show complainer. I'll freely take advice from people who can play. I obviously have lots to learn. But you havent shown me that you are the one to give advice of any kind, much less advice about guitars and playing. I'd tell you to go have a nice life but... how can you?
This is a great vid to make a case against any mod to the 600. I love the sound of the Merc. Mag. mod kit for this little amp, but why do it if a pedal is cheaper and achieves the same tone? Of course, this guy can play very well, and that make a hell of a diff.
I noticed a big difference in tone by merely moving to another room in the house...for instance his room has many hard surfaces which will make the amp seem louder...the room doesnt soak up the sound waves...consider this before mods
If you were doing solo work with backing tracks would you use this amp live m'ced up to a pa ? I ahve one of these amps and I am in 2 minds to take it to a gig
@Rafterman123 The point is: not having to crank a 100W amp in a house to get power tube distortiion, but rather getting it out of a lower wattage amp for practice / recording purposes. This is not my only amp, just one I like to play in the house and squeeze different sounds from. Incidentally, these are not $15 amplifiers. If your not interested in Champs, I'm sure there are a lot of Bogner, Egnator and Krank videos around Youtube for you. Cheers.
omg y do u have a les paul and that tiny amp i have a les paul and a 805 watt amp when i put it on one it will rip ur eardrums apart and its solid state so it better
Meh alright, most people think a nice Marshall or Orange stack might just sound a tiny, little, insy-winsy bit better than that practice amp. And @LovejarMusic: I have learned, I learned when I spent money on getting good equipment and heard the difference myself. Les Pauls will not sound their best through practice amps. And if you are going to whoop out your Les Paul then you really should cough up the little extra for something that can actually handle a guitar like that. X
@Rafterman123 With time and patience, anything can sound good. There's a video on youtube of Satch playing a £150 guitar through one of those Boss multi effects pedals and it sounds AWESOME. And I hate Satch's music. Personally, I love my Epiphone Les Paul through my Marshall stack, and yes, I'd love a '59RI but I'm happy using what I've got, and I can constantly look for new sounds from it.
@MrPoundNote I agree, but we are talking about the holy grail of guitars here... Playing a 1950s Les Paul on a mediocre amp is like putting Kelly Brook's face on Ronnie Corbett's body... The point is, if you can afford a Les Paul like this, then please give it some dignity by using a proper amp and letting it speak for itself

take it from someone who knows...there is nothing like a gibson when you want to play rock....i have a 81 flying v and a 65 sg......the flying v will hold a note for as long as you want.....solid mahogany....i think you could actually kill someone with the V and then play it...rock solid. Your amp blows.....there is NOTHING like a marshall..period
There is "nothing like a Marshall" if your looking for a Marshall sound. Like toolowd said, Layla was recorded with Champs. If your looking for a Fender or Vox sound, a Marshall sound will not work for you.
@eugeneconrad I gotta agree with you, what you're ears want is a big part of it. But I must also say that these new Fender Champ 600s are different than the older ones, like the one clapton used, the old ones had more care put into them.
I agree. Anything hand built with care will cost you. These are mass produced in China, PCB design, so they are what they are. BUT, Ii can have a lot of fun with them, and coax some fun sounds out without removing the windows from my house. I plugged this into a 1x12 Greenback Celestion and it was fab. Incidentally the Layla quote was just to reinforce that 100W Marshalls are not necessary for great tone. There are other less painful options.
that's a pretty shitty attitude. I think his tone here is great. And sure, a Marshall is awesome if that's what you want. I play a Fender Tweed and a Hughes and Kettner, and i have no desire for a Marshall.
@mjw9363 I agree but this is a cheap tube amp,Marshall makes only expensiv tube amps so this is a pretty good one for that price
and also fender makes good amps,my dream amp is a Marshall JCM800 and a Fender Blues Junior III and I think I will buy first the Blues Junior because its cheaper but still a good amp
@mjw9363 It's a Fender, if you can compare Fender and Marshall tone without hear the real difference of style between us, I advice to stop plain' guitar and go to buy a ears kit. And, I don't think, there's only Gibson if you want to play rock, I prefer Gretsch... bla bla - I'm doing what you're doing. Open my mouth for nothing and impose my point of view as the only truth. Go play on your things. I really like the sound of this video, the Champion 600 and the Les Paul can sound really great !
@fretboarder You unscrew the chassis and take out the guts and the speaker. The front plywood baffle comes out, you pull the staples out and remove the grill cloth. Staple on new grill cloth and re-assemble. Note: unplug the amp and dont electrocute yourself. this is my disclaimer.
some people would say bah that wouldnt make any diffrence but after years of messing with aduio equipment ive found the small things can have a big affect on sound..cheers for the pointers..
It's definitely better than a Traditional (which used to be the Standard). But, unless your really picky, have a good ear, or have been playing a while to notice the subtle differences, a Traditional would do the average person more than adequately. YMMV
sounds great ive got a r8 myself nearly the same thing as your lp..one thing is putting me off this amp though and thats the array of pedals you've got infront of it getting those tones..cheers..
thanks. i play with my tone controls to get a bit of 'woman tone' a la early clapton, works well for an Abraxas type sound too.. a little overdrive, some power tube distortion then fufll treble on neck pickup and roll off treble on bridge pup until gets a little out-of-phase type sound. you have to find the right spot but when you hear it you know...
thanks glad you like it. It sounds better now. I replaced the grill cloth and took the cover off the back. I am going to make a new cover for the back that has a bigger opening.
this has stock grille. i replaced the original cloth (crappy piece of suede like material, didn't breath at all) with proper grille cloth and opened up thhe back. Sounds huge now and doesn't fart out on the low notes.
