Regarding the "splatter" generated by K2AX that OE6KYG mentions in his comment not being a receiver issue is not correct. If your receiver has a steeper filter skirt and/or maximum attenuation, there will be less K2AX signal being heard.

In this case, my ears tell me the K3 has a steeper set of filters because I don't hear as much of the K2AX signal on that transceiver.

I have no explanation why I can't hear the OL8A better on the K3 as expected. Maybe it was QSB that reduced the signal .

At 3:36 in the video the FT-5000 is on 3522.480 and I hear OL8A. But as the frequency is tuned down to 3522.467, the tone of OL8A does not change. I must assume this is a video/audio synch problem introduced by YouTube during the upload (I've seen this on many videos).

But that aside, and to my ears, I can hear the OL8A better on the FT-5000. The K3 sounds "quieter" to me but I can't hear the OL8A when the K3 audio is brought up.

Yes, it is hard to notice a difference here. But what I like is the quite band QRN. Sound like a normal day on 20m band here. OUCH!!! ;)

Agree with you, however we did not determine any situation that can give potenial problems during this contest.

the "splatter" from the stron station are made by the transmitter of the strong station and is not a receiver issue in this case..
