@wallace500001 Nae it scares me not, those who it scares are those whose arrogance and contempt matches the ignorance by which they act. I talk of course of Parliament. I for one believe that Scotland's independence will only bring strength, after all if people seek freedom, then freedom should be awarded.
I cannot help tho feel a little sad, but that perhaps has more to do with the way I was brought up, I believe and always have believed that there is strength in unity~
If Scotland was independent, mined the proven gold reserves and minted Scottish gold coins, they would have a ready global market as all this paper script currency (EU or USA) is apt to be as worthless as used toilet paper. All the big bankers, commodity and stock brokers are backing the enviromentalists opposed to gold mining, but it is the one thing that could keep the EU from dragging Scotland down with it. Save yourselves.
@LinnTractorNut The UK now has plans for evacuating British citizens from Europe in case of a collapse of the euro and EU. Got independence? Got gold coinage? Get on it!

I´ve never understood why this song is not more widely known. It´s stirring and brings together the whole Scottish nation. I love Flower of Scotland but there´s a defeatist tone to it which this song doesn´t have. God bless the Corries - Roy and Ronnie - true beacons of light and hope.
Makes you wonder if those who died to keep Scotland free for centuries could see the indecision today about whether or not to simply vote for freedom, what would they think?
You´re so right. Today´s fearties and fainthearts are a disgrace to the memory of our ancestors who stood up, fought and died for Scotland´´s freedom.
I'm from Japan, and I'm a man who identifies himself with Scottish people.
Because I was born in the northeastern region of Japan, where is similar to Scotland. And my fathers had been persecuted by "central" Japanese traditionally, like Scots were.
So I say 「けっぱれ」...means "Furray" by our dialect...for Scotland. She and her people may be free!
There was a Japanese who came to Scotland in the 1930s to learn how to make whisky because he said the terrain and weather was like the mountain region of Japan wherehe came from. He went back and started the Japanese whicky industry. I wonder if he took a Scots lassie back with him. That would have been a great story.
Probably my favorite Corries tune. I haven't heard this particular version, and it's a bit jarring to hear the same voices at ... the wrong pacing. I prefer the rising tempo of the album version.
Still good though. Up the Celtic! And the Rangers, too. :p
To BillDFC--Oh that is so funny! I love Bonnie Dundee--only think of the joy of being such a pain in the lneck that the provost says, let him go--we're well rid if the bugger! And then there are "the bells (that) rung backwards"--was anything ever so beautiful?
johny65 thank you , lets go further, present day banks collapsing people going bankrupt , why, how many ads have you sen , no cash go with us , the bosses take millions in bonuses the people can't repay , we , the tax payer who got not a penny when they were nationalised have to bail them out with our taxes , claw back the bonuses from the bosses, why pay millions for failure, I look forward to a Tory government as long as its only in England not Edinburgh
I have no sword to grind with the English per se, they want what we want its Whitehall, and has been for centuries look at your history Culloden , massacres , Genocide , times when sheep were more valuable than people, In Braveheart it was put perfectly "use the Irish they are cheaper than arrows ", your modern day equivelant the treatment of the Ghurkas, forget Religion , a divide and rule tactic , think as one, and for each other then you will have a nation to be proud of
The only reason I know of the Corries is i'm old enough to have seen them. Why does BBC Scotland never play them on any of their Celtic Music radio shows. Young Scots are not getting the chance to hear their music.
Scotland will be free when she unites as one people and puts away the fears of what will come when she again is independent. Recall the past glories while moving with purpose towards a brighter future and take back her destiny! Alba gu Brath from a Knox of Clan MacFarlane. Loch Sloy!

An interesting point of view friend but I am protestant and I have no problem working alongside my friends and colleagues who are Catholics. No, the issue cannot be decided on religion alone but on all things in total and a unity of purpose shared by all for a common future. I respect your viewpoint and your expression of it.
And I respect yours too, 'cause I too have protestant friends. I also agree on your second point, but religion is the hearth of everything. Perhaps one day, love may unite all of us christians.
I think much more than the average inmigrants on every country. (As individuals). I don't think he was made Patron-Saint of Scotland for nothing, don't you agree?
I doubt very much if Scottish liberty or Catholicism are your priorities. You sound like a unionist lackey with typically see through tactics of divide and rule. I'm a protestant by the way, a rangers supporter and a nationalist but have many catholics, that I am proud to call, friends.
Scotland will be free when it embraces itself and stops all the petty religious squabbling that divide us, not by embracing one particular religion!
I've heard my fair share of idiotic comments from 'so called' Rangers fans so I understand where you are coming from. Thankyou for your kind comment, all the best to you too my friend.

Scotland does not beleive in English rule . The last election showed that if you can count.
The people in Scotland are not stupid.
Thet can see where their future lies best. Not paying their wages to prop up English and other banks , but , more simply put, to help ourselves.
It's begun to happen of course , that what scares the english.
