  • Clans that dance the best

    Ard Choille

  • ALBA GU BRATH ------- SAOR ALBA

  • Scotland does not beleive in English rule . The last election showed that if you can count.

The people in Scotland are not stupid.

Thet can see where their future lies best. Not paying their wages to prop up English and other banks , but , more simply put, to help ourselves.

It's begun to happen of course , that what scares the english.

    ALBA .

  • @wallace500001 Nae it scares me not, those who it scares are those whose arrogance and contempt matches the ignorance by which they act. I talk of course of Parliament. I for one believe that Scotland's independence will only bring strength, after all if people seek freedom, then freedom should be awarded.

I cannot help tho feel a little sad, but that perhaps has more to do with the way I was brought up, I believe and always have believed that there is strength in unity~

  • INDEPENDENCE!

  • If Scotland was independent, mined the proven gold reserves and minted Scottish gold coins, they would have a ready global market as all this paper script currency (EU or USA) is apt to be as worthless as used toilet paper. All the big bankers, commodity and stock brokers are backing the enviromentalists opposed to gold mining, but it is the one thing that could keep the EU from dragging Scotland down with it. Save yourselves.

  • @LinnTractorNut The UK now has plans for evacuating British citizens from Europe in case of a collapse of the euro and EU. Got independence? Got gold coinage? Get on it!

  • By the cross our Andrew bore by the sword our William wore

By the crown our Robert swore to win our Liberty

Call the falcon from the glen call the eagle from the bend

Call the lion from his den to win our Liberty

  • @GalazanCat Call the falcon from the glen, call the eagle from the 'Ben' = would make a bit more sense?

  • By the man was faith was old by the man they sold for gold

By the man they'll never hold to win our Liberty

Call the thieves all in his dale call the spears of Allendale

Call the brave of Yarrow Veil to win our Liberty

  • By the arm that bends the bow by the arm that plies the blow

By the arm that lays them low to win our Liberty

Call the banners from the West call the raven from his nest

Call the clans that dance the best to win our Liberty

  • Comment removed

  • By the field that once was green by the shield that silver sheen

By the sword in battle keen to win our Liberty

Bless the man with faith we hold bless the man in chains they sold

Bless the man in cloth or gold a' won our Liberty

Bless the man in cloth or gold a' won our Liberty

  • Can someone write the lyrics, please?

  • Call the clans wha' dance the best!

  • I just wanted to post on this thread ...... to be in good company.

  • Awesome. It's about time we had our liberty. Alba Gu Brath

  • MAY 6TH........put your cross in the right box!

  • @BillDFC Just wondering....How'd the vote go? Here in the US we never hear about things like that.

  • @endora60 Hung parliament.....they should all be hung...still a parcel of rogues!

  • scotland will be free one day

    scotland forever

  • By the Cross oor Andrew bore, by the sword oor William wore, by the Crown oor Robert swore - tae win oor Liberty! What a heritage and tapestry we have -lets start knowing who we are again and building on that knowledge.

  • Scotland until the end of time...

  • Feel the hackles risin' - what a great song and what a brilliant performance - man, do I miss the Corries!

  • Our National anthem.....by the crown our Robert swore!

  • Most underated scottish folk song. It is easy the most stirring and passionate, supercedes the rest and there is a few . Anyone know who wrote it ?.

  • It's original to the Corries.

  • You're nuts

  • It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself. - Alba Gu Brath

  • Alba gu brath!!!

  • This Jacobite will never rest till Scotland has Liberty. No more Union No more oppresion No more small minds A free and Proud Scotland through democracy will Honour the Hero's who gave so much more.

  • 100%X100% Right there grant friend! Ne'er a Derby on ore chart. March onward in order!

    Ye should check my space!

  • Arbroath April 6th.1320.

  • @jacobiker RIGHT ON BROTHER!

  • @jacobiker ye say that as if charlie if he had won would have kept scotland seperate and pinnacle...ye should know yersel that if won he would have just done the same as that german bastard and ruled from london no givin 2 fucks about scotland

  • @rosswatt1979 You have a point there about Charlie and I agree he would have done much the same as previous Stuart monarchs.

Our real heroes were BRUCE,WALLACE, ANDREW De MORAY, THE DOUGLAS and the thousands of patriots who fought and died with them.

  • @jacobiker YOU DONT STAND ALONE OTHERS FEEL THE SAME MY ROSE IS STILL WHITE

  • Out and out patriots....brilliant...by the sword that WALLACE wore...

  • For once we agree! ;-)

  • We're comin' fae the same place lassie.

  • THe day is coming...

  • The Corries Rock! Thanks for posting.

  • This is probably my favorite Corries song -- I love the defiant lyrics and the rising wild tone that it takes as the song goes on.

  • After much heart searching, I have decided this is also my favorite although picking a favorite from all of their great music is a difficult thing. :-)

  • Im sitting here in the Heat of Malta in tears for my country Scotland but ooooh so proud and one day oor bairns will get thier liberty Im sure the young are fed up of English Political Plonkers

  • I´ve never understood why this song is not more widely known. It´s stirring and brings together the whole Scottish nation. I love Flower of Scotland but there´s a defeatist tone to it which this song doesn´t have. God bless the Corries - Roy and Ronnie - true beacons of light and hope.

  • I agree, Exiled (from a fellow exile :-) ). This is one of my all time favorites from the Corries.

Roy and Ronnie did much for the cause of Scottish independence in their own way.

  • long live the fight for scottish independence!

    soar alba!

  • Alba gu Brath!

  • Makes you wonder if those who died to keep Scotland free for centuries could see the indecision today about whether or not to simply vote for freedom, what would they think?

  • You´re so right. Today´s fearties and fainthearts are a disgrace to the memory of our ancestors who stood up, fought and died for Scotland´´s freedom.

  • Bless the man in cloth-of-gold wha won our liberty!

    Saor Alba!

  • I'm from Japan, and I'm a man who identifies himself with Scottish people.

Because I was born in the northeastern region of Japan, where is similar to Scotland. And my fathers had been persecuted by "central" Japanese traditionally, like Scots were.

So I say 「けっぱれ」...means "Furray" by our dialect...for Scotland. She and her people may be free!

  • interesting 2 hear!

  • I have just read your comments....long live Nippon..

I being Scottish do respect your warrior spirit...thanks

You mentioned being persecuted by other japanese....what about China?

I hope all is well with you, peace be with you

  • There was a Japanese who came to Scotland in the 1930s to learn how to make whisky because he said the terrain and weather was like the mountain region of Japan wherehe came from. He went back and started the Japanese whicky industry. I wonder if he took a Scots lassie back with him. That would have been a great story.

  • Probably my favorite Corries tune. I haven't heard this particular version, and it's a bit jarring to hear the same voices at ... the wrong pacing. I prefer the rising tempo of the album version.

Still good though. Up the Celtic! And the Rangers, too. :p

  • Stuff Rangers and Celtic! Up wi' the bonnets o' Bonnie Dundee!

  • To BillDFC--Oh that is so funny! I love Bonnie Dundee--only think of the joy of being such a pain in the lneck that the provost says, let him go--we're well rid if the bugger! And then there are "the bells (that) rung backwards"--was anything ever so beautiful?

  • johny65 thank you , lets go further, present day banks collapsing people going bankrupt , why, how many ads have you sen , no cash go with us , the bosses take millions in bonuses the people can't repay , we , the tax payer who got not a penny when they were nationalised have to bail them out with our taxes , claw back the bonuses from the bosses, why pay millions for failure, I look forward to a Tory government as long as its only in England not Edinburgh

  • I have no sword to grind with the English per se, they want what we want its Whitehall, and has been for centuries look at your history Culloden , massacres , Genocide , times when sheep were more valuable than people, In Braveheart it was put perfectly "use the Irish they are cheaper than arrows ", your modern day equivelant the treatment of the Ghurkas, forget Religion , a divide and rule tactic , think as one, and for each other then you will have a nation to be proud of

  • smezatu2009 well spoken words, like a true warrior, Proud, Gentle but Firm Sir and very wise. And Whitehall is the key.

  • I've not sen this one. Thanks for posting.

  • The only reason I know of the Corries is i'm old enough to have seen them. Why does BBC Scotland never play them on any of their Celtic Music radio shows. Young Scots are not getting the chance to hear their music.

  • The BBC showing Scottish stuff? Are you mad?!

Seriously though, pro-independence music being shown on the EBC is pretty unlikely...

  • I don't think i'll see it, but i'll be seeing in well (up or down).Bonnie Scotland forever.

  • Scotland will be free when she unites as one people and puts away the fears of what will come when she again is independent. Recall the past glories while moving with purpose towards a brighter future and take back her destiny! Alba gu Brath from a Knox of Clan MacFarlane. Loch Sloy!

  • Well said, my friend.

  • It will be free only when she re - embraces it's catholic roots. Was the martyrdom of St. Andrew's in vain? One people, one faith, one nation, ONE WILL.

For Scotland, from somebody who admires it.

  • An interesting point of view friend but I am protestant and I have no problem working alongside my friends and colleagues who are Catholics. No, the issue cannot be decided on religion alone but on all things in total and a unity of purpose shared by all for a common future. I respect your viewpoint and your expression of it.

  • And I respect yours too, 'cause I too have protestant friends. I also agree on your second point, but religion is the hearth of everything. Perhaps one day, love may unite all of us christians.

  • just wondering but what did st andrew do other than have his bones brought here?

  • I think much more than the average inmigrants on every country. (As individuals). I don't think he was made Patron-Saint of Scotland for nothing, don't you agree?

  • I doubt very much if Scottish liberty or Catholicism are your priorities. You sound like a unionist lackey with typically see through tactics of divide and rule. I'm a protestant by the way, a rangers supporter and a nationalist but have many catholics, that I am proud to call, friends.

Scotland will be free when it embraces itself and stops all the petty religious squabbling that divide us, not by embracing one particular religion!

    Saor Alba!

  • Well said sir, without a doubt the best thing I have ever heard from a Rangers man! Seriously though, excellent post and good health to you.

  • I've heard my fair share of idiotic comments from 'so called' Rangers fans so I understand where you are coming from. Thankyou for your kind comment, all the best to you too my friend.

  • I agree vary well said, and the same with ireland I fear. we do need our leaders to rember that the price of war. is that for every man killed are mamed it is two less hands to work the fields or the factorys, or the traids it is the working ppl that get things done.

  • Alba gu Brath!

  • Scotland will be free soon. !! scotland will be free one day !! In our lifetime ??

This is a great song writtebn by George Weir from Peebles Scotland

  • Haven't heard this one before. It's brilliant! Scotland will be free soon.

  • In our lifetime!

  • scotland will be free one day
