  • can any1 tell me if its worth buying this? is it really good? i cant afford 1000, only 500. please reply thanks :)

  • is that 2dropps

  • Other than the colour, whats the diference between the efx-500R and the efx-500??Thanks

  • Are any difference between EFX 500 and Kaoss Pad 3 ? which one would be better for dj who doesn't play electronic music but basically Roots music, "Live" tunes ??

  • It is possible to make an 8 bar or 16 bar feedback loop with the efx 500?? thanks

  • Is there any way i could set this up with a xone dx and traktor pro? like use the efx effects over the master output?

  • good demo, but that song got inCREDIBLYYY annoying lol

  • how much can it cost in euro and can scratch with it too?

  • @fabiiy22 You can check the prices in euros by selecting your currency on the left hand side of our website. Currently this means that the EFX500r is €335,42 as it is also on sale at the moment. However prices are subject to change (our website is regularly updated to match the current exchange rate)

  • i want one of these so bad, there such a great tool for live mixes!

  • whats your prices are mixers with send/return function?

    thanks

  • hi will this work with 1210's and a pioneer djm400, if so how do they connect ?

    cheers

  • @ANDYB1903 The DJM400 does not have an effects send / return, however you can connect the EFX unit to the master output. Simply plug the master output into the effects send and plug the effects return to your speakers

  • can you use it with the numark mixdeck LE

  • @ishubeta There is no effects send &return on the numark total control and the mixtrack, but you can use the EFX500 on the master output, which will still sound great!

  • can it work with the numark total control or the new mixtrack?

  • @stereohouse22 There is no effects send/return on the numark total control and the mixtrack, but you can use the EFX500 on the master output, which will still sound great!

  • @HTFR ok thanks for the help!

  • hi i ve got a question about efx 500,do i have to have pioneer decks or that will works with any others,if yes what are the criterias for those decks...?i was thinking about cdj 100s and any more than 2 channels mixer, what you could offer for amateur dj?????????any help would be appreciated.cheers

  • @ficek360 You will just need a mixer with an effects send/return. This means you can apply the effect to each individual channel (otherwise you will only be able to apply the effect to the master output). Here's a few models that you may want to search on our website that have this feature - Allen & heath Xone 22, Behringer DJX 750, Vestax Guber. Check out our mixers section on our website for more information.

  • put your collar down broski bro

  • better than efx-1000 pioneer?

  • @buzbee1991 hell no man if u have the efx 1000 pionneer keep it

  • Can anyone give me £400 to buy this sexy piece of gear D:

  • i like it

  • if you get one like this and one mp3 player, you can make good money on parties

  • Niceee :) ....

  • Cool so does this have any sounds of its own like a built in drum machine?or can you feed sounds into somehow? Iv seen Frank Delgado from deftones using it as a drum machine???

  • Just get the Behringer DDM-4000 Mixer. (My vids for Sample)

  • yeah that's a good mixer

  • could you just hook this up to say a kp3 no mixer no cdj

  • Could you use this like a loop sampler like the effector 1000?

  • i'm currently using analogue turntables, a basic mixer, synth and drum pads. im getting a nice sound out and im happy with it but abviously with this it can drag on a lil sometimes, can anyone recomend me anything to add some variation or effects?

    thankyou, Dan

  • so does this actually have sounds built in? or can you mix songs and shit off your comp?.....

  • No, it doesn't. It adds FX and stuff to a mixer.

  • nice

  • Can this be used with just Tech1200s... instead of cdjs

  • is there anything that you cannot do with this?? :D

perfect stuff for perfect mix,Pioneer did it again! respect!

  • I have just been having a watch of rik showing us the EFX500. Just got one on ebay, minus any instructions, so been messing bout, but great to have some go through it...slowly enough so i can see what the hell he's doing lol...watching Zabiela with the 1000..he's far to quick the talented bugger!

Really helped give me the basics, so i can have a play and see what works for me....can't wait to get to use it to it's full potential! Top gadget!!!

    and thanks Rik! x ;0)

  • i need to find time to come to england, sadly im in the usa. and off to college, so i don't think a trip is first on the list

  • what do u use this with? regular turntables and a mixer or what?

  • UMMM COOL PROCESOR!

  • Is this useful for anything other than candykid music?

  • Sure is, whether you are using it as part of a track or live it'll add effects in easily without sounding preprogrammed or robotic. Just look at some the comments below, people who own an efx love it.

  • I wish I could visit your store but I live in France :(

  • what wud u guys recomend, the efx 500 or 1000 do you get much more on the 1000 for the large price difference, and 3 band isolator, im usin djm 800, are there many midi options with the 500?

    plz reply, thx

  • You have a Midi in/out & thru.

You do get a fair bit more for your money with the EFX1000, more effects, More control over roll's and loops etc. Also the three band isolator can also be done on the EFX1000 its just not designed to do it, but thats the thing with these products you can be extremly creative with them and get them to do things pioneer did not design them for, see Rik Partingtons video's on our page for more tips & skills

  • I have one of these. Great live tool!!! I truly recommend it!

  • you can do an 8 beat loop at any BPM... just set it up for a loop, set it to 4 beats, hold the tap/shift and then while pressin the tap/shift, select 2 beats, that will give you an 8 beat loop.

  • The EFX has a longer sample memory I believe, so at around 130 BPM you can only do a 4 beat loop on the EFX 500. If you are playing DNB around 180 though you can get an 8 beat loop from it

  • you can do an 8 beat loop at any BPM... just set it up for a loop, set it to 4 beats, hold the tap/shift and then while pressin the tap/shift, select 2 beats, that will give you an 8 beat loop.

  • ye thats a big help, thanks for that mate...

  • i seen a video of the efx 100 and the guy in the video di a 16 beat feed back loop, he did it by selecting 8 beats and then pressing the tap/shift button and then pressing 4 beats and it created a 16 beat loop... can this be done on the efx 500 only on the efx 500 it doesn't have 8 beats, it only has up to 4, but can i do the same thing only with the efx 500???? but i wont be able to make it 16 beats.........

  • Instead of doing a 4 beat feedback loop like you normally do on the

EFX-500, you can do an 8 beat loop. But your not doubling the sample rate

or speed but halving the tempo instead.

    So.

The EFX-500 should be set up to do a normal 4 beat loop, with the 4/1button

highlighted, hold shift then hit 2/1, this will half the tempo and you can

    do an eight beat loop.

    Hope this helps

  • at the bottom left of the effects unit, there is a small button that says ''monitor'' What is it there for???

  • Allows you to listen to the effects through your headphones before you put them live into your mix.

  • how much does it cost ?

    thanks

  • The EFX500 costs £275 but please visit the htfr website for up to the minute prices. We also ship worldwide.

  • this effect can change your voice ??

  • It can change any sound you put into it, changing your voice is just the same as changing one of the tracks thats going through your mixer.

  • well, you just need to add some pitch, no ?

  • Dependings what effect you want to put on it. For example Rik adds a couple of effects when he does it.

  • Nice demo :)

Will it work in combo with Mixvibes/DJM400?

  • The Pioneer DJM 400 hasn't got a SEND & RETURN feature, so its harder for you to connect a Pioneer EFX 500, but it can be done. You can take your master output into the INPUT on the EFX, and then out of that into your main amplifier or stereo. The only problem you have is that you can't cue your effects and everything you do will be live with it as its running from your master output.

  • you said that for the efx 500 to work you need a mixer with a ''send and return loop'' what is a send and return loop??

  • A send and return loop is a feature on a mixer that enables you to send an audio signal from any channel on your mixer to an external unit (such as a sampler or an effects unit). Once you have manipulated the audio or want to drop a sample back into your mix, the signal is returned to your mixer, either into the required channel or master output.

  • thx for the valuable tutorial!! pioneer should pay you off!!

1 problem, i got a lot of clic sounds when cutting short loops dunno if its sample problem I used to be a drummer so normally i don't have any timing problems as i know is it sample problem or something else?

  • Well the guy in the video is Pioneer Pro DJ's Rik Parkinson ;)

As for clicks, it sounds like your timing may be ever so slightly out but i'll see if there may be other reasons for it.

  • hi there will this work with my technics turntable behringer djx700 and serato scratch live

  • Yes, the Pioneer EFX 500R will work with your setup.

  • thanks

  • bro, nice work there, appart from the color, what is the difference between efx500 and the one you have there (efx500 R pro)

  • Only difference is that its red. Everything else is identical.

  • can you use this with tecnics turntables

  • It can be used with any turntables as it all depends on your mixer. As long as your mixer has a send and return loop you are good to go.

  • this or a kaoss pad... hard decision...

  • The decision is up to you, both are great units, and will add a third dimension to your mixing / dj'ing. Its really a personal preference as to what you are looking at doing with it. A call to our highly trained Hardware Team will be able to talk you through the differences.

  • @HTFR can this be used with vinyl sl1210's or would it be limited in anyway? thanks.

  • The Pioneer EFX 500 can be used with CD decks or turntables. There are no limitations with using turntables with it.

  • damn that sux, efx1000 is bad ass. ok well illl just make some more money and gain some more experience with my current setup. later ill get the mixer , cdj and shit.

thx alot for your time bro,

    ur a kickass dj

  • Will efx or efx 1000 be able to be hookd up using virtual dj and the numark total control???

  • I'm afraid it can't. Numark's Total Control connects only by USB to your PC or laptop, it has no audio sources that you can run through the EFX.

The only way you could use it would be to use it as a MIDI controller for your software, which the Total Control does anyway.

Another option is run two audio sources for your PC or laptop into a normal mixer and use the mixers SEND & RETURN to connect the EFX 500 or EFX 1000. This way you would not be using the Total Control at all though.

  • would it not be possible to put the main out from the total control into the efx and then put the return as your main out to the amp? ive been doing that with a kaoss pad. cheers.

  • Well done HTFR! Nice vid. I tought of buying a mixer with efx, but after seeing this I think Im going to buy a mixer without the efx. If Pioneer has something, that no other brand has, I think it's the quality efxs. Watched the Vestax PMC 280 video with the efx, didn't like it, Vestax doesn't get even close.

I tought of buying a Vestax PCV 275 + Pioneer EFX-500..What do you think?

  • The Vestax PCV 275 is an excellent mixer and is the choice of many pub instalations due to its supreme build and sound quality. Add the Pioneer EFX 500 via the send & return and you'll be able to create some great mixes using an array of effects.

  • wil the efx500 work with traktor and the bcd3000 till i get some moeny for some 1000's?!! haha

  • No, you require a send and return loop on your mixer for that to work which the bcd3000 doesnt have.

  • do any midi type controleers accept stand alone efx units.. like that lovely looking vci-300 for example? will u be gettin these in?.. any idea how much?.. thanks pal

  • I cant think of any midi controllers that will accept a a stand alone FX unit. If you are using a controller with a standard mixer then of course you can use the mixers effects loop, other than that you need to pick software such as pioneer's djs which has effects on it.

  • Hiya, What are the wires called that run in/out of the efx500 unit?

  • There is only a power cable that runs from the EFX 500R. As for connections, INPUT wise you have dual phono or 1/4" jacks and also MIDI. OUTPUT wise you have the same, dual phono and 1/4" jacks, then also your MIDI out. These are explained on our website, where you can also view a detailed photo of the back of the EFX 500R.

  • Thanks so much for your help. Appriciated. And fab Vid too helped me out big time. Your a nice person. THX.

  • hey bro... umm i was wonderin if you could give me a tip on were to keep the effects nob in the upper right hand corner... should i keep it always half way?

  • It depends how you want to affect the sound, i suggest you have a play around till you get the output setting you like.

  • im still tryin to figure it out :P but does that effect nob control the whole efx 500? like if i set the nob to zero, like zero effects... the delay, echo, jet, etc..... all that wont work right??? that corner nob is like that master effect??

  • Thats correct. So if you have it full with an echo on for example, you will hear the echo very loudly. If you then put it down to zero the echo will get quiter until it can't be heard at all as you turn the dial down.

  • appreciate it bro... you should put more vids of you mixin...

  • what is a better machine Kaoss Pad VS Pioneer EFX? please send me an answer jeje thanks

  • Check below.

  • EFX 500 way better

  • took your advise now ive bought one and its great !! btw could you tell me what the song in this vid is ?? cheers !!

  • cheers what would you advise me 2 buy choosing between a pioneer efx 500 or a korg kaos pad kp2

  • I think if you are after live dj performance the efx 500 just edges it, the kaos pad will be slightly harder to come to terms with but is definitely a quality effects unit, its a tough call but I think the efx500 would be my choice.

  • i mix makina which is pretty fast and with my mixer the beat counters wont read it because it is too fast. do you think the pioneer efx500 would read the faster bpm?

  • I think anything over 160 any BPM counter will struggle, however most of the top range equipment including the efx 500 has a tap feature where you can tap along to the beat and the machine will then read it.

  • cheers for the reply! do you think it would be worth while buying it then ? thanks

  • Definitely, you'll still get some great features and if you upgrade in the future you'll still be able to use it.

  • great mix pal. was just wondering can you connect that pioneer effects unit to the numark 5000fx because it has no send/return but do you need it ? cheers

  • You could hook it up the master output of the mixer between the mixer and your amp but you would only get use of some of the effects because the loops and delay effects require the singal to be sent back to the mixer.

  • Whats the differenct between a the effects on a "DJM 800" and the effects on that unit?

  • The effect on the efx 500 are far more flexible in terms of EQ'ing them and the beat slicer/chopper on the efx is quality for chopping beats on the fly and using effects creatively.

  • cooool i love it!! :) does, jus wondering do effects units work best only wit dance music???

  • They work with any type of music, because it is up to you how you use it with each song, either by being subtle with it's use or full on.
