@jaymthegenius Because most people only watch DVD movies once or twice so the cost isn't worth it. Netflix lets you see the movie for just a fraction of that. Also, DVD's look like shit next to Blu-ray and Netflix lets you rent Blu-ray discs for just a dollar more a month.

Either that or they were pricing it below cost @$9.99, to attract people, and now they're pulling a bait and switch. The only valid reason for them to raise prices by this amount would be if their costs have gone up, and they have no justification for that.

It's actually pretty predictable that Netflix pricing has risen with its competition in the toilet, but this fast? The price of the most common plans is basically going to double from a year ago. The DVD pricing is now completely inferior to Red Box.
