I am very inspired by this video, I've spent many hours copying this song. What strings do you use and where can I learn the fan stroke or how did you learn it ? This is my first instrumental so much Mahalo! Only played uke for 2.5 years but guitar for many. Just a haoli guy that's Hawaiian inside. Really enjoy all your Video's

The fan strum is easy but hard to perfect. Basically take your fingers pinky first place them above a surface take your pinky place it on the surface then quickly follow it up by your ring finger middle then pointer, what you want to hear is "dun dun dun dun" now do that faster to the point where it's not to fast that you can't hear the individual beats but fast so there's not long pause between them. Now grab the uke and do what you just did but each finger being an individual strum.

So you would go down across the strings with your pinky quickly followed by your middle and index most people use their thumb for an up strum I'm not sure why I just use my index finger. But basically that's the fan strum it's harder in practice than explanation lol. It's even harder to throw it into a strumming pattern if you're not used to it either.
