"[The Quest for Peace] is also more contemporary than some of the past films. Superman is concerned about a NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST, a message which is brought vividly home for him when a young schoolboy writes to his alter ego, reporter Clark Kent. It's a plea he, as Superman, cannot ignore so he sets out to do something about it."

I can declare my hope and declare it from the bottom of my heart that we will eventually see the time when that number of nuclear weapons is down to ZERO."

@jayce79 Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I think the original deleted scene that I based this off of is what really could have brought the movie together since the movie seemed to forget that it was about the threat of nuclear war and instead decided to put more focus on the supervillain by the end.
"I first became aware of the threat of nuclear war when I read Neville Shute's book On The Beach when I was 15 years old and living in Melbourne, where the book was set. The book was about an accidental nuclear war that triggers the end of Human life. This scenario branded my soul."

... now, imagine if some tards WASTED over two decades nitpicking Neville Shute's On The Beach ...
"I had seen a television show in Boston. Children were talking about what it is like to grow up in the ATOMIC age. At the same time, people were saying that I had the attention of the kids and that I should take advantage of that, so I said, OK, here's a way to consider this topic." Reeve told Starlog in June 1987, "I needed the motivation to really want to play Superman again."
--Christopher Reeve, on why he co-created The Quest for Peace
@KingCesar10121 true, i wish they would have kept this scene in the movie. i liked the fact that nuclear man betrays lex luthor, and i thought it was kinda badass when superman appeared in the elevator. plus it just feels like more is at stake rather than just cutting right away to nuclear man destroying cars and such.
"We have not yet experienced a global thermonuclear war -- although on more than one occasion we have come tremulously close. I do NOT think our luck can hold forever ... We have placed our civilization and our species in jeopardy. Fortunately, it is not yet too late. We can safeguard the planetary civilization and the Human family if we so choose. There is no more important or more urgent issue."

... preventing a nuclear holocaust is FAR more important than your enjoyment!

... ask Japan ESPECIALLY NOW which is more important: The promotion of an anti-nuclear message ...
... or ensuring that some snide SPOILED fan out of white suburbia is enraptured by a cinematic experience.
@princeofthieves1000 You know, just because someone doesn't like this movie DOES NOT mean that they don't agree with its anti-nuclear message. Look, if you really like this movie, then that's FINE! I personally respect other people's opinions, and I would never make fun of anyone for liking it! And of course no one cares whether fans have been "enraptured by a cinematic experience" as you have repeated nearly a billion times because it's JUST A DAMN MOVIE!
@ollyh82 i wasn't exactly trying to replace the original score, i just had to put a lot of finished flying scenes to replace the unfinished ones that were originally on the deleted scene, and if i didn't put a new score over the video, then the whole thing would have sounded extremely choppy. i was also using imovie to edit this, so it's very primitive in the sound editing department compared to final cut and other more advanced editing software.
@maverick21tomcat oh, i see. i don't exactly know what's on the actual deleted scene. i'm pretty sure some of it is deleted music from alexander courage's score from the movie (which i don't know if it's available or not).
@maverick21tomcat i used part of the song "chasing rockets" by john williams which is found on the Superman: The Movie soundtrack. you can definitely get it on itunes.
@DarPower1 i believe it's actually a part of alexander courage's score that was going to be used for this scene but didn't make it to the final cut along with the scene. it's good stuff, i just couldn't keep it cause it was going to sound really choppy with all the editing i did.

very good work, but what is the music on the deleted scene before you but on "chasing rockets" you slighty hear it under the "chasing rockets" track?
