I'm not a rep in 2008 because I'm not a fascist. I'm not a dem in 2008 because I'm not a communist. Why do people fall for the 2 party(fascism/communism) system trap? How is that a choice? That's like do you want us to remove your left or right arm? I choose to not have any arms removed.
The libertarian party isn't option this year since Bob Barr is a controlled opposition with a neo-con style voting record. If I vote my only option will be to write in Ron Paul or maybe Michael Badnarik.
I can't wait to see how bad Mr. Nader is going to make Barr, Obama, and McCain look in the televised google debates. Nader has far more superior ideas then the other candidates! Just watch the C-span interview he did on July 4th. Lets get someone in office who really is for change and switching the power from the corporations to the people!
Bob Barr's conversion to the LP is sincere; do some research.
Bob Barr/Libertarian Party-lower taxes, more freedom, small government.
Chuck Baldwin/Constitution Pary-lower taxes, more freedom (unless you're homosexual), small government (but big enough to impose morality on everyone).
If you value true freedom, vote Libertarian.
If you believe the government should regulate and legislate morality, vote Constitution Party.
You are mistaken about your own candidate. Bob Barr is the one who pushed for traditional marriage when he was congress. Baldwin wants to get government out of marriage because it is a religious issue, and no place for government. But hey, if you're for more government, don't let me stop you..Bob Barr's your man!
True, Barr worked to federally define marriage, but saw how such legislation is abused by both Rs and Ds and works now to repeal the DOMA.
From the Constitution Party's platform:
"No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations contrary to what God has instituted." and "...we also believe that our...government plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining the highest level of decency in our community standards."
Bob Barr thinks that perverted sickos who make "crush videos" that show pets being tortured to death should be legal. That's one of the reasons why he lost his next election.
SHAME on the Libertarian Party for embracing such a depraved little worm!
in 1824, a mental man was shipped all around to different asylums. a year later, he was in the showers and skinned a man (elbert simon)and slipred his flesh dry. they had to put him to sleep. they asked if he had one last request and he said yes. he went to the bathroom and carved 666 on his forehead. they gave him the shock treatment.since yu read this, he is going to come to your house in 6 hours and 66 seconds to skin you dry. you can make him go away by posting this 3 times
I have been a dedicated Libertarian since 1976. Thirty years of frustration and marginalization. Bob Barr is our breakthrough candidate who is taking our party mainstream. We are finally actually building a Libertarian Majority! Flash and burners please keep your ovrecoats buttoned.
He can win if Americans would stop and think about the dangerous leviathan that our government has become. As George Washington said, even in the best of times government is a dangerous servant like fire. Who in their right mind would pay their servant $3 trillon dollars a year...to spy on its masters among other follies!
It doesn't matter if he wins, what matters is that Americans begin returning to the practice of voting for a candidate who embodies their personal beliefs and principles. The scandal of the two party system must end!
Bob Barr has a real go-getter mentality and is tough enough to debate either Obama or McCain. He definitely has the "Fire in the belly" he needs to win over many votes. We need honest and constitutionally based leadership to preserve our sovereignty. We need Bob Barr!
Debate what? the fact that All three support the patriot act, and supported funded the war. Three NAZIS cant debate on the truth. McCain is an insane NAZI. Obama, sneaky NAZI, and BARR IS A TWO FACED NAZI!. WE DONT NEED BARR!
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT WRITE IN RON PAUL. He's officially dropped out of the race and he's not going to be on the ballot, so the vote will end up being a wasted one. The best thing we can do is rally our support behind Bob Barr and help the American people understand the concept of limited government.
I'll definitely be voting for Barr in November. Is he Ron Paul? No. Only Ron Paul is Ron Paul. I'm voting for Bob Barr because I support his platform. This is what message we send when we vote: the candidate's platform. Of those who'll be on the ballot, Barr's is the best in moving toward liberty.
yep, I love Ron Paul, Ron Paul is great, but he actively suspended his campaign last month (source: his own website), so yeah, Barr for president. Maybe he will have Ron on his cabinet, that would be awesome.
Those of you confused about anarchism vs socialism vs democracy vs republic... Look up this MUST SEE video to get educated: "The American Form of Government." Know what you are promoting.
A write-in vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote. Ron Paul supporters, please don't waste your votes! Which is our BEST choice, Obama, McCain, or Barr? It's a NO BRAINER. Barr's flaws are FAR less than the others. I beliefve he is GENUINE in his change of heart toward principles of liberty. Let's give him a chance, to give real CHANGE a chance. He's the only NON-CFR candidate. Don't forget to join the Bob Barr money bomb on July 2nd.
If a vote is informed and is a personal choice, then that choice is never a wasted vote. Vote for the person who most represents you. The goal is a representative government. Ron Paul represents me. He is smart, conservative (by definition, not label), pro individual liberty for all, pro law and U.S. Constitution, proposes a very limited government, opposes oligopolies and government assistance that creates them, and will end the illegally initiated expensive Iraq War which was waged on lies.
Voted for Paul in the primary. I'd write him in, but as far as I know Texas does not have paper ballots...so there isn't any way to vote for him in Texas. Therefore, I'm voting for Barr in the general election.
Although I'd like to, a write in vote for Ron Paul won't be counted since he's not registering as a write in candidate. The vote won't be counted at all. I'm pretty sure I'll be voting for Barr in November, as I like his platform, and think he's much better than the other options available.
bob barr has a monotone, boring president ford charisma. he does sound intelligent with measured words and actions, but he sort of misses the passion and doesn't hit the nail direct on the head.
ron paul had the charisma of a mouse, but he had a long history of fighting the system, and that showed with passionated statements that hit the nail on the head. that is what resonated with the people.
America now has what they've been asking for, a real choice. How can any American vote for for Obama or McCain when we have a real person for liberty on the ballot. When you get in the booth in November vote for the person that will stand up for your rights as an individual American citizen. Mootsa Gootsa says Bob will win once the masses are aware he exist and is on the ballot. Obama and McCain may have a big lead now but come November Bob wins by a mustache.
This is the first time I have seen Preston on Politics. Is this new? Nice work. This is a good format. I am tired of 30 second interviews and soundbites. Keep it up.
IMO, the FBI is still necessary, to deal with (or at least co-ordinate) police cases which cross state lines. And you'll always need SOME form of IRS as long as there are taxes to collect, but certainly it could be scaled back significantly when the government no longer needs so much money.
As for CIA. . .I can't think of a good reason to keep them around yet. Anybody got one?
I can't think of a good reason the the FEDERAL government needs to have ANY of that. Please do a gut check to see if you have bought into the fact that "they hate us for our freedoms"... Who is our enemy? Our enemy comes from within the government. I'm not going to tell my children we are free until all those agencies go away! We are NOT free as long as they exist. The government meant to "protect us" points it's guns at us. Is THAT free? Who will our enemy be if they do not exist?
Sorry, but there will always be a need for the Federal Government to collect taxes, because there will always be a need for national defense (but yes, it should be for DEFENSE).
There will always be need for an FBI. Could you imagine the difficulty of 7, 8, or 12 state police forces trying to work together on a crime spree, or settle on who has jurisdiction over what? But, perhaps they should not have the power to start an investigation without a state's permission.
No, I'm sorry to you. You still don't know how government works. You think that those things are funded by taxes. it's ok. Don't feel bad. Most think that is true when it's not in the least. You have no idea what you are talking about my friend. Not one clue. you certainly aren't libertarian are you? don't answer that. Just go search for the way the military is funded. Ok? Please.
we did have the military before the income tax was conceived in 1913. And the government always had the right to tax just about anything, but the constitution STRICTLY PROHIBITS taxing our income. It's just a lie that the government sells to us, claiming that they NEED to tax our personal wealth.
Another Great video! I really like what he said about Ron Paul. It's time to come together. I did a video on how Ron Paul and Barr need to unite. Check it out if you'd like.
I've read some essays by the von misses institute. I don't have room in my reading que for a book, but I'd be glad to read a essay or report or something - in the interest of intellectual honesty.
Before I had no idea why you saying this. But now I think I understand your reasoning (though I still don't agree with it). Libertarian Capitalism relies on businesses to act responsibly, whereas Libertarian Socialism requires government to act responsibly.
Do you actually think that government is less likely to abuse the system than big business? Also, a court system has a much better chance to reign in abuses by corporations than by another part of government.
The government is inherently coercive, therefore against individual freedom. Libertarian socialism is an oxymoron. Companies may be coercive, but not if they're held responsible for their actions. Governments can never be held truly responsible. Chomsky likes to make up facts as he goes along.
I really wish people would look into this a bit more before commenting on it. It seems the word libertarian is lost on most people, especially when you add the word socialist behind it.
Terryphil is correct for the most part, though I disagree that libertarian socialism is the best way at maximizing freedom. That doesn't necessarily mean I find capitalism (certainly not how we define it now) to be best either but I will admit to leaning that way.
I view the economy as sort of a Prisoner's Dilemna (the theoretical problem in which each individual's best possible choice does not lead to the best possible outcome for everyone as a whole). Because of human nature, we can never realize the ultimate goal of maximizing everyone's results (financial, happiness, whatever).
Capitalism is a good but imperfect system for imperfect people. Socialism is a perfect system. . .for perfect people.
I don't think socialism is a perfect system for perfect people, I think it's got problems just like capitalism. I personally think they both lead to massive oppression when supported with a government, which seems to be what you're describing.
What terryphi is talking about is anarchy so anyone that continues the conversation should try to keep that in mind. It's probably not the best debate tactic to be bringing up government when talking to a libertarian socialist (i.e. an anarchist).
the word "anarchy" or "anarchist" has been associated with "bad" things to make it sound like little or no government is bad. Why do you think they always put a picture of the unibomber when talking about anarchists...it just sounds evil, when in actuallity, there is a legitimate posistion to be on, to believe that government fails at all levels, and we need to take care of ourselves.
Look at the top 200 Chomsky lies. He constantly rationalizes away atrocities from Socialist governments by blaming America and capitalism, much of the time on false assertions. He hates capitalism, and America, but he refuses to leave and has made millions on our horribly mixed economy. His objections to capitalism are objections to state capitalism, not free markets. It's as false as me blaming communism for the Holocaust.

I am a Ron Paul supporter, but now that he is out, I say, "Barr for President!"
