Should the child be denied his or her basic human right of growing up in a normal family? Allowing queers to raise children skews the mind of a child into thinking this sort of behaviour is normal. It could only be considered random if there was no connection between "standing too close to him" and the other guy asking "what, are you a fag?". But it's plain as day that there was a connection. He was insulting him because of his assumed sexual orientation, and this escalated to physical abuse.

Yes but he was not asking him if he was gay as a serious question because he had a sudden thirst to know where the other bloke liked to put his dick. The question itself was a random insult. Being called a fag is an insult thrown around by men to other men for frankly anything. Standing too close, taking time getting changed in locker rooms, being emotional, hugging a friend and all sorts. It's essentially the default male insult because it challenges percieved masculinity.

The idea that simply exhibiting characteristics or actions that might indicate a feminine personality is grounds to insult and then physically attack someone- not only is that homophobic, that's misogynistic. I am so sorry that this happened to you. As a child, that was every day of my life and, just like you, no one ever stood up for me either. What I find amazing is that anyone considers the casual nature of hate-based violence surprising. Does it get better? They say it gets better but it doesn't. We have to MAKE it get better. Don't all crimes like this come from hate? Whether it is a straight guy beating up a gay guy... or anything else. Is it our culture that promotes the "thug" culture and it is ok to be violent against anyone that disrespects you? What is it? This is a sad story.
