This image is a "Still Picture" , but your brain with the music, creates the illusion of a sunrise because wants to be united with the cosmic harmony of the universe . This is the power of Vangelis music.
@lkcovers Hahaha, no. He is going to be 70, but I want him to reach 100, because if God had a face, he would have Vangelis's face. Not only he should reach that age, beside him I want Jean Michel Jarre, who is Jesus of music, but he's still young, so reaching 100 for him would be easy. Praying for it all the time. Returning to Vangelis, because of this Hymne song he is God of music for me. And "Conquest..." is his second best song.
An incredible artist with his blends of sounds and surrealism which can make anyone sit back and dream to a far away land of peace. Vangelis just has the knack of giving the human ear that special sound which can either make you smile or cry. Either way, his music is an unbinding expression of what he feels, and in every way, likes to share them with us. He is my most favored composure of all time. That and John Williams.
So far there are 11 "dislikes". I don't understand this. Everyone is entitled to their preferences, but I don't see how one could not appreciate even something about this piece and how it's played. I think it's beautiful. It's very moving, very inspiring. Vangelis has been a favorite of mine for decades. Very well done. Thanks for posting.
Ahhh, The love of my life and I listened to this it seemed every night, tender moments, we parted our ways and I have missed her ever since, so long ago.............
Music like this sometimes makes me wonder if I am forced to be blind or deaf, what would I choose? I would probably choose to be blind rather than deaf, because I would "see" and understand more beauties in life, inner and around me more, with such beautiful music.

@Relaxicity ok, i don't really know if it was a real orchestra, but you still can't call this electronic music. Even if he did it all by computer, the sound is still an exact imitation of a dozen or more different instruments. It's not like he did it with beats and samples, or whatever "electronic" music is made of. This is magnificent, no doubt:)
Vangelis is one of the pioneers of electronic music. His work was called "electronic music" long before the current trent of pre-programmed beat driven music that you call electronic music ever took off. Some complained that music made with synthesizers could not be real music, or have a soul, because it was made with machines. They didn't realize that any non-vocal music is always created with machines (acoustic or electronic). In the end it's all down to the human who is in control.
Well done - argueable; overdone - definitely. This just isn't his normal style: laboured, melodramatic, and contrived, it's more in keeping with what we expect from lesser composers who just don't know where to draw the line. No offence, but for Vangelis, this really is below standard.
@MSM4U2POM That's one other way to look at it. I'm never disappointed to see tastes differ from mine. For the record: He did this version live, originally, on the Night of Poetry concert, and then later again (not so live) on the Eureka concert. This is slightly remixed and edited from either performance (softer choirs, for instance, and shorter). But you might just forgive some of the melodrama because of the (original) context...
@Marcorally83 'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religous toleration to offer them an asylum.' John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.A
@Marcorally83 This passage is taken from Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum page 484 chapter 93
The only society known to us capable of rivaling us in these arts is that of the Jesuits. But we have succeeded in discrediting the Jesuits in the eyes of the stupid populace, because that society is an open organization, whereas we stay in the wings, maintaning secrecy. Protocol, v
@Marcorally83 Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). Alexandre Dumas pere was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 The Society of Gesu(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the 3rd and last time. The Society of Jesu(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS).
Vangelis is much, much better than Mozart or anyone else! He is God of music, that's why I want him to live 100 years (or even more, but it's not necessary), he and Jean Michel Jarre should live 100 years.

He´s the real creator of the music. Electronic. I can compare him to the classical composers! Yeah, like Mozart. This is Elecronic, and still calm and beautiful.
I love how the level of epicness raises so many times during the song. One could think that the last climax would be the introduction of the choir ...usually it would be that, and there would be no musical 'place' to go after. However, here it's only the beginning of a journey to the musical heavens.
This music by Vangelis is now a symbol of hope that life will go on and that one day we will have a future. Each and every one of us have choices, when wrong ones are made, there will always be hope to back them up. thank you Vangelis.
This song remind me that maybe not me , maybe not anyone of us will see it, but someday, somehow, our sons or grandsons will reach the stars and become truly free...
@MyGroupThink Once again, don't worry, I'm 18 (from Qc) and I think this is much more better than what our generation is often listening to ;)

I love how the level of epicness raises so many times during the song. One could think that the last climax would be the introduction of the choir ...usually it would be that, and there would be no musical 'place' to go after. However, here it's only the beginning of a journey to the musical heavens.

This epic song in some parts sounds like Christmas music. Overall, it sounds like triumph.

This music by Vangelis is now a symbol of hope that life will go on and that one day we will have a future. Each and every one of us have choices, when wrong ones are made, there will always be hope to back them up. thank you Vangelis.

Das lied ist so schön, da kommen einem glatt die Tränen! Das ist für mich Kunst an der Musik. Nicht wie dieser neumodische Kram von heute.
