there is no difference between lata and asha's ability but lata always got better songs compare to asha,,otherwise no one can find any difference between them

The singer ability is decided by music composer who really knows which is better for this song.... it that sense LATA is better singer.... Other one singer is Manna dey who is much better than mohd rafi... Rafi no doubt was the popular choice but as a singer manna dey was much more accomplished ..

Very nice....but of course Lata is "great" only because she was given the opportunity tosing the many thousands of songs. Alka Yagnik is actually every bit as good as Lata - but because times have changed and other singers are now given more opportunity she will never be as famous as Lata. Lata's songs are technically NOT difficult to sing. She was given the opportunity to sing those songs - others were not - so we worship her as being 'the best singer" . Not logical!

@wtc175 oh common have you listen songs of Madan mohan. or naushad.. if you know little bit indian classical music u wouldn't have made such a stupid comment.. some of Lata songs are most difficult to sing correctly... she has a impeccable range ... Alka yagnik and other singers have sung songs which are easy and phonetically simple.

She is not hailed as greatest singer for no reason.... singing a classical raga based song live is not easy task and get some knw before commenting

@san2san707 .  Rafi sang 'Duniya ke Rakhewaleh' and Sadkeh Heer Tujpeh' both are technically difficult to sing. I have yet to come across Lata singing anything which is technically difficult to sing - but I am very willing to be proved wrong - especially as I love Lata's songs both old and new so I would like you to tell me a couple of songs which you consider to be technically difficult.

this one is baju bawara raga bharavi based tune..... try to sing it yourself and see how difficult to sing a song like that...

Indeed the song Mohe Bool Gayeh Sawariyah is more complex than usual Bollywood fare.....but it isn't overly complex and I have no doubt most singers can sing to that level and certainly someone of Alka's calibre will have no problem. There are very few Bollywood numbers which require extraordinary singing skills. Lata's voice is beautiful..but so is Asha's or Alka's. It is impossible therefore to differentiate between their singing skills from the songs sung so far.

i know this song is very difficult to sing and musically speaking its really complex song to sing.. I think only singers having classical root can sing it.. but singing something perfectly is altogether different game......

@san2san707 Having sung on stage (amateur) and being a musician and having composed music including cover versions of Bollywood songs and recorded them with Mangal Singh (Rail Gaddi fame), I have some idea of what a difficult song is. I don't have a good voice, but used to be able to sing 'Duniya ke Rakhewale' - without having had training of any sort.. Bollywood songs are not a good measure of technical ability however beautiful they are to us as individuals.

Shreya Ghoshal is good ... of course Lata Mangeshkar is beyond comparison ... but if anyone is any way good after Lata, it may be Shreya ... and there is another one from Chotte Ustad: Anwesha .. i hope she practices well for being a star like Lata Mangeshkar...
