I've been studying the topic of weight loss for about 10 years now (I'm a personal trainer for a living) so I think I can shed some light on the topic.
HOW TO LOSE FAT
1) Cut out carbs in the evenings (eat "low glycemic" carb sources in the day).
2) Choose the exercises that burn the most calories (NOT sit ups and curls). Squats, Lunges, Pull Ups etc. are great examples.
3) Use the software and meal plans from FatLossCustomized. com
So you all know... You can't target specific areas of your body for weight loss, all you can do is try to lose weight in general, everyones body loses weight from different places at different rates depending on your "body type" - you can target specific areas for muscle mass gain, but NOT for weight loss.
You can't burn fat in specific areas. Your exercises will tone the muscles under the fat! You have to lose weight first. It comes off from head to toe. When you lose enough, the muscle tone will show everywhere!

Wrong. Stop lying to ppl u are gonne ruin ppl's bodys. It is very very different, I will tell u why. When u do cardi and diet first then u lose weight fast, u lost both fat and muscle. So when u do diet and cardio for a while the time comes u wanna work out u will have less weight to bring up everytime u do a crunch. Which means your muscles will take a lot longer to grow than if u started doing the crunches when u started the cardio and diet. U are just cheating yourself...

this works, if you also run. i have a ball, and my husband (who is in the Army) makes me put a 15 lb weight on my chest as i do obliques and curls on the ball. and not only that, he gets me jogging for at least a mile a couple times a week and i play dance dance revolution as well :]
Yeah, I eat a diet of nothing but doughnuts and still have six-pack abs and obliques from doing this. Just pullin' your leg. The sad part is that working out just builds muscle. Losing fat does the rest. Working out will help you burn fat, but there's no such thing as spot reduction, other than plastic surgery. This is why you don't see too many pictures of bodybuilders in their off season. Working out is fun. Dieting at the same time isn't.
I just got a stabiltiy ball about two weeks ago and I really like it. At first it's a little hard to get use too but once you do it's great. As far as the way she is doing these exercises for love handles I don't know I usually watch the people on sparkpeople or fit tv and follow them.
And of course what people never mention is eating right ( I hate diets and don't diet) just eat healthy and get cardio every day also.
The ball is great for mid section stuff. Also, try kickboxing - you don't have to spar but going through the practice kicks and the shadow boxing with weights will do wonders for you - also, swimming.

this really gives you a workout there. if it has effect i don't know, but i've been doing this for about 3-4 weeks and i tell you it's hard to pass 15 reps. I do normally 3 sets of 20 reps. In the beginning it was 3 sets of 10 reps. of course you have to combine it with other exercises.
Like everything else in nature, the body wants to burn fat efficiently. If you build muscle beneath fat, it may initially look like you are pushing the fat out, particularly after a tough workout. But if it is lean muscle, and you continue to exercise it, it will burn the fat directly over it before it will take it from somewhere else. Doing situps doesn't move fat from your butt, for example.
do not do these every day! do them every other day ad combine them with a ab routine. if you dont have a rest day in between working out this area you risk injury! also there is no substitute for cardio and a good nutrition program.
wow, not easy, just trying to get into the right position was a struggle, but I'm starting to get the hang of it now and can certainly feel the burn, combined with cardio I hope it will entually produce some results :)
if you have "love handles" it doesnt matter if you do 10 crunches a week or a 1000 every day, you'll never lose them unless you reduce your fat level, its impossible to reduce fat through anaerobic exercise, and its impossible to "tone" fat all youll be doing is toning the muscles underneath the fat, but until youll reduce the fat layer over it youll never see a difference
this is the way I thought it was: (a) You do cardio or aerobic exercise to lose pounds or reduce fat level (b) You you anaerobic (or something like the video showed) to tone the area of the body you want to work out

You may be starting to grow into your adult hips. What are your parents' bodyshapes like? If you're fit&healthy (not talking pants size, but how your body looks&feels...aka strong, flexible,& cardiovascularly endurant) then these new 'love handles' may not be the kind that 30+ people moan about. Your pants size may increase a size or even more from this point on in your life(especially if you are wearing hip-hugger jeans. Dont force an 'ideal' on your body. Be the healthiest body YOU can be.

You can't focus on one spot to make the fat disappear. Body fat is an overall thing. Doing cardiovascular exercises, weight lifting, and maintaining a proper diet are the best ways to lose love handles and overall fat in general. Try jogging first thing in the morning for 30 minutes straight before breakfast. That burns the calories majorly.
You will start to lose fat, but the love handles and gut fat are the last to leave since that is where the body stores fat first (for males, for females it's in the thighs), so it takes patience and dedication.
I love these videos! They're really easy to do...i wud do them properly, but i keep 4gettin to get a stability ball, so i jus use a space hopper i av lying bout the house...almost does the trick!!:)

You will get a six pack if you lose enough fat so that your abs show through. Everyone has a six pack, but most peoples are covered with a layer of fat, ab exercises strengthen your abs..they will barely grow atall if anything.
Diet wise if your eating 3500 calories of incredibly healthy food when your burning only 2500 per day your not going to lose fat.. Health = healthy foods, fat loss = energy in vs energy out.
3500 calories a day of food intake? and u burn 2500 of those calories a day? are u on crack? go do some more research then post on these videos pretending u kno what ur talking about.
Or perhaps your to stupid to understand and should learn more before you start criticizing others who know more than you do.
You'll find if you are a bodybuilder its very easy to eat 3500 calories a day which is irrelevant anyway as it was a random number to illustrate a point.
It is also very normal to be able to burn 2500 calories a day through a combination of a persons basal metabolic rate, Thermic effect of food, how much exercise they get in general etc. Very basic things to know.
This exercise isnt going to do anything to help anyone lose love handles. It is always about energy in vs energy out, the most important aspect of doing any exercise to help someone lose weight is how many calories that exercise is going to help you burn overall. This exercise is pretty pointless.
The thing that burns the most calories is weight training, using compound lifts. Cardio wise it would interval training or HIIT (high intensity interval training). Google it. For how many calories you should eat google BMR calculator & the harris benedict equation.

Start doing the follow all around the same period of time...
- Cardio (ie. Jogging, Jump Ropes, Swimming)
- Change your diet: cut out sugar, fried foods, and most dairy products
- Use the medicine ball and do lots of ab workouts,
Your goal is to be able to do 300 crunches in one session, with a couple breaks here and there.
This guarantees a bad ass 6 pack.

Well first u gotta keep in mind that ur love handles are gonna take a while to reduce in size but u can completely get rid of them in due time.
When trying to reduce them it will take a few different factors to do that, not just one thing.
The main things u need to change to lose love handles and fat on ur stomach is ur diet, ur excersie routine and ur sleeping pattern.
The diet is pretty simple but hard to follow for many, if u are real with urself u can do it.

Only way to lose your love handles is to do cardio exercises and lose weight. Eat a healthy diet low in calories and jog/bike/swim.

if you have "love handles" it doesnt matter if you do 10 crunches a week or a 1000 every day, you'll never lose them unless you reduce your fat level, its impossible to reduce fat through anaerobic exercise, and its impossible to "tone" fat all youll be doing is toning the muscles underneath the fat, but until youll reduce the fat layer over it youll never see a difference

Im no physician, but from everything I've ever read you can't just do an exercise to lose. Do cardio to lose the fat and then do these to tone.

okay well im only 14 and im a size 1 but im starting to not fit in them so uhh im gettin love handles but how can i like lose them. I eat right and exercise but odnt see any improvement. idk im confused??

You may be starting to grow into your adult hips. What are your parents' bodyshapes like? If you're fit&healthy (not talking pants size, but how your body looks&feels...aka strong, flexible,& cardiovascularly endurant) then these new 'love handles' may not be the kind that 30+ people moan about. Your pants size may increase a size or even more from this point on in your life(especially if you are wearing hip-hugger jeans. Dont force an 'ideal' on your body. Be the healthiest body YOU can be.

You can't focus on one spot to make the fat disappear. Body fat is an overall thing. Doing cardiovascular exercises, weight lifting, and maintaining a proper diet are the best ways to lose love handles and overall fat in general. Try jogging first thing in the morning for 30 minutes straight before breakfast. That burns the calories majorly.

You will start to lose fat, but the love handles and gut fat are the last to leave since that is where the body stores fat first (for males, for females it's in the thighs), so it takes patience and dedication.

I love these videos! They're really easy to do...i wud do them properly, but i keep 4gettin to get a stability ball, so i jus use a space hopper i av lying bout the house...almost does the trick!!:)

I'm 5'8 about 154 lbs. would I get a six pack if I work out my abs 3 days a week for about 20 mints. I take care of my diet too. also how long would it take me to see abs showing......plz respond if you got anything ....thx

You will get a six pack if you lose enough fat so that your abs show through. Everyone has a six pack, but most peoples are covered with a layer of fat, ab exercises strengthen your abs..they will barely grow atall if anything.
Diet wise if your eating 3500 calories of incredibly healthy food when your burning only 2500 per day your not going to lose fat.. Health = healthy foods, fat loss = energy in vs energy out.

Or perhaps your to stupid to understand and should learn more before you start criticizing others who know more than you do.
You'll find if you are a bodybuilder its very easy to eat 3500 calories a day which is irrelevant anyway as it was a random number to illustrate a point.
It is also very normal to be able to burn 2500 calories a day through a combination of a persons basal metabolic rate, Thermic effect of food, how much exercise they get in general etc. Very basic things to know.

This exercise isnt going to do anything to help anyone lose love handles. It is always about energy in vs energy out, the most important aspect of doing any exercise to help someone lose weight is how many calories that exercise is going to help you burn overall. This exercise is pretty pointless.

The thing that burns the most calories is weight training, using compound lifts. Cardio wise it would interval training or HIIT (high intensity interval training). Google it. For how many calories you should eat google BMR calculator & the harris benedict equation.

You don't lose fat from your belly area, by excersizing your belly area. You lose fat from all over your body. You can't target a specific are for loosing fat.
