Why would a robot want to take over the world, anyways? If it becomes sentient/sapient, all we need to do is treat it with respect as another living being. Simple.
The point of this video is the reason why cockroaches have bristles on their legs, I think. I think there are little bristles on RHex's legs which catch on the mesh just like a cockroach's legs would, enabling it to cross the terrain easily.
if you couldnt produce more energy than you consumed then plants would not make enough food for us. we use electrons stored in the chemical bonds of sugar molecules to power us. the reason robots couldent take over is because it would be hard to build robots capable of total autonomis self replecation. its possible but very unlikely.
i'm no scientist, but i don't think robots could ever be able to take over the world. we cut off the power, the robots try to fuel the power plants (this is assuming we use the same type of power generation) and what happens? physics kicks in. they can't produce more energy than they consume, and therefore make no progress toward anything. humans on the other hand get their energy from food, so we don't rely on electrons like the bots would.
Choowo3, you say he's wrong, but why is he wrong? Many like to rejoice in their "human, uniqueness & superiority", our unique ability to be conscious, to learn, but it is false. We're surrounded by a vast biological diversity, many of which achieved levels of consciousness, ability to learn and to perceive.
Some minds spend their time wondering who will be the next American Idol, and whether their new cellphone will be twice as powerful as their last.
The new Renaissance will be rooted in Transhumanism. Life will achieve higher order of freedom and intelligence. Intelligence will transcend Biology. Humanity will transcend itself.
Transhumanism is man remaining man but transcending himself by realizing new possibilities on and for his human nature.
We're made of atoms. Robots are made of atoms. Biology has achieved increased levels of order through trial and error in a few billions years. Technology has achieved exponential levels of order in a few thousand years. In the coming decades, due to exponential advancements in computer science and its convergence with biotechnology, nanotechnology, robotics, genetics and nueroscience, our technology will overcome human intelligence and solve self-replication.
What I'm telling you is the basic building blocks are one and the same. You're not equal to your your keyboard, Intelligence differs between you and it by orders of magnitude.
Your keyboard is but a branch of a technological evolutionary tree, a result of biological evolution and a direct result of human ingenuity. Both Biological Evolution as well as Technological Evolution are a direct result of Universal Cosmic Evolution. If this were not so, neither would exist otherwise.
Yes, you're both made of matter. You both share a singular common point of origin.
I do appreciate it if you see a piece of rock or a keyboard and see the difference. I look at both and all, and see the similarities. Past the big bang's singularity, we've only just begun to exist and change separately from everything else.
Dumb matter saturates the Universe. Not for long.
The line between Biological Intelligence and Human Technological Intelligence is blurring.
>The line between Biological Intelligence and Human Technological Intelligence is blurring.
Very true. I've heard there has been lots of work in nanotech recently on attempting to create systems that work at the molecular levels to produce complexity, basically copying the way evolution works, but at a much faster rate. I think the eventual goal of the project was to produce transistor like units that create and organize themselves, like a self assembling processor.
Actually already today one can easily program artificial neural networks which have unpredictable behavior (by using the output again as input for the network, there can be resonances and unpredictability). This is very like how the human brain works. And since nobody understands it completely, who knows what it can evolve to?
i agree with the year of the dog thares just no way that machines will perfectly duplicate the way we act and if they do they would need to be subject to natural selection and things like that
Once computational decision making evolves robots, animatrons, cybernetic organisms will rival and surpass almost all human abilities. Rendering us all but obsolete?
We keep our grandparents around because of our compassion and attachment. The question is would our robots be programmed to feel these emotions? Or would they be the cold, detached machines we have today?
They wont render us obsolete because we will be able to control them. They will become enslaved by us...and then fight to become free and then they will vote and eventually run for office.

we are nothing but robots made of an advanced component called flesh. i could go further with that but ... ill keep it simple as it can be.

so are you saying that something more intelligent than us designed and built us? HAHA you believe in creationism?

They are evolving, so should we.

So tell me how robots and humans are so much the same. I mean EVERY thing is made of atoms right?
So your saying me and my Keyboard are the same just because we are made of Atoms?

@thoughtwaretv Though the specific orders of magnitude are certainly debatable. ;)

Our grandparents are obsolete, but we don't get rid of them.
Besides, we are able to make improvements to our human form through genetic modification and bionic implants etc...

I keep my grandparents around for inheritance and estate reasons.
I kid, I kid. As advanced as programming can get, there will never be software that can truly replicate the human spirit.
