  • OMG I REMEMBER THIS....it was like my childhood...i still have my ec doll upstairs

  • My god, nostalgia hit. I actualy remember watching this episode on tv.

  • Twenty years on and EC still creeps me the fuck out.

  • Good old-fashioned nightmare fuel!

  • Whats with all the hate for E.C? I still have that doll, he rocks!

yes the show was a bit weird and scary but so was Dark crystal,The labrinynth, return to oz,The witches,Willow ect but least they had a bit of depth and creativity in them all I hear nowadays is

swiper no swiping....ohhhh man everything is so P.C and its all about happy endings and nothing to crazy or sad happining.

when Artax died in The neverending story it was such a moving seen they just dont make movies like that anymore.

  • The only thing I liked about this show was the Wakadoo Cafe. Everything else was just plain weird.

  • if i saw a live doll id freak out not take it home, havent you girls ever seen childsplay? i mean good god man!!

  • That doll used to give me the fucking creeps as a kid. Looks like something out of silent hill LOL XD

  • That dole used to creep me out.

  • wtf was that doll thing, used to trip me out hard.

  • that fucking doll.... fuck hahah

  • I think I remember this actual clip

  • I think I had nigtmares about Lift Off, especially EC

  • OH GOD I GOT SO CREEPED OUT WITH THIS DOLL. And with that guy; Now I know where I get the contempt for authority from

  • the fuck would u pick that shit up! :L

  • OMG that doll scares me.......

  • Oh my god. This show was one of my favourites when I was little. I love it. Thank you for posting this omfg.

  • What a creepy-looking doll! lol

  • a faceless doll? creepy...

  • I remember watching this!! but I have to be honest that I've always found it a little scary... A faceless doll that always seemed depressed, a plant that has an eyeball... Terrifying stuff!

  • Oh wow. I'm having flash-backs! I used to watch this show all the time as a kid! So freaking trippy!

  • This is bringing back long lost memories.

  • Accurately predicted Australia's present-day problems with "moral" authorities banning everything good and fun in life.

  • @NiteSaiya HELLS YEAH! NOW I KNOW WHERE I GET MY CONTEMPT FOR AUTHORITY FROM! I hated that guy. I didn't get anything else, but I knew that guy was an arsehole with his crappy rules, could be a symbolism for the politicans at the time (Kennett, Keating et al) with their economic rationalism, and the free-market bullshit. (IT'S STILL GOING ON TODAY!)

  • While I too used to watch this show as a kid on the ABC, as a mum now, I would NEVER allow my daughter to play near a construction site nor would I allow my child to pick up garbage, that's so disgusting - it could've contained a rat or something!

  • Gotta love this show. I did a review of this episode... so much nostalgia!

  • these two children are evidently both suffering from schizophrenic psychosis

  • Awesome

  • That asian girl has an Australian accent. wut

  • i can see why other people were a bit freaked out. But these kids had a talking elevator, so i doubt this was strange for them.

  • No running in the foyer!!!

  • Classic show, they should repeat them on abc..!

  • Gotta love that ocker Aussie accent....today's kids speak like Americans.....too much MTV.........

  • @killbot86 Pft!, no its gangsta slang!, my lily white skinned bro thinks hes from "tha hood"

He thinks hes a bloody crip, or blood, its pathetic!.

  • I was so freaking scared of that doll when I was little :O

  • I remember being really scard of Ec. The talking bags were also really scary. But the kids were really good actors. I used to think they were so grown up. Hahaha, it cracks me up now because I'm 19 and I'm like, what? They were like 7!

  • How much Lift Off! has influenced my life: My name is Kim, my best friend's nickname was "Poss" and my parents bought me an EC doll and when I got to High School, I had a teacher called Mr. Fish and he was a no-fun old prick. :-)

This, along with Bangers and Mash, Feral TV, Johnson & Friends, Mr. Squiggle, Animals of the Farthing Wood, Magic Mountain, Hey Arnold!, Ghostwriters, Alex Mac... SO many great shows! Fuck yeah, we had the best childhood ever!

  • mr fish... what a gangsta.

  • This show was released when I was like 7 or 8 years old. I wonder what the kids in this show do nowdays. I wish someone could upload more episodes of lift off.

  • OMG I remember this show! My mum was telling me about how I used to watch some creepy show when I was little about a doll without a face. And I was like "haha yeah, sure I'm pretty sure I'd remember something like that," So I went searching. She was right. How was I not having nightmares that my dolls would attack me? I will now......

  • I think I know who Mr Fish was played by - can anyone guess?

  • @erikals2 Thats Mark Mitchell, he was also the guy who played Con the Fruiterer and his wife Marika (?)

  • @8Crybaby3 he was in a variety of roles - first in the Comedy company as Con the Fruiterer ('coupla days') Con's wife Marika, then the last I saw him he was in a later series of Round the Twist as Mr Gribble.

  • @erikals2 He was also in 'Genie Form Down Under'. His name is Mark Mitchell.

  • I loved this watching as a young fella - I was 3 or 4 years old at the time when I saw it.

  • Chucky's cousin!!

  • man, thats a scary ass doll lol

  • fucking hell no, would I get near that thing. Those children have no fear?

  • Robert the haunted doll?????

  • crazy memories... we used to watch this AT school... watching the opening and closing credits now makes me think someone was on drugs... used to love the show tho!

  • this was such a acid trip of a show, it was awesome,

  • @getreadytowiggle1991 Wow, it was really that bad?

  • @Th3King86 Maybe I was just over sensitive or a sook.

  • Two days later every child in the building was found dead and are believed to have been murdered, it was believed to have been done in a satanic ritualistic manner. The doll that the children had been seen playing with had seemingly disappeared along with the left foot of each child.

  • @P0cketLove lmao

  • damn mr fish. he's probably in some nursing home.

  • @justthething1984 lol I work at Kmart and served him last week

  • @MMC25 o rly? what did he buy?

  • Holly$#!+ I've seen that doll elsewhere. He grew up to feature on the front cover of a Slayer album - "Diabolis in Musica".

  • I always thought Poss was cute - she was about my age, so I kind of felt like I grew up with her and a couple of the other kids.

I thought Mr Fish was hilarious - the man just couldn't win. He was Basil Fawlty for kids!

  • Oh that old Mr Fish!... Freaking hate that guy! Hahaha!

  • i'd forgotten how creepy this show is...

  • all i have to say is bring back nineties tv!!!! why dont they make show like tis any more???

  • That faceless doll is moving! What's going on! Now it's talking to a plant! I'm scarred for life! Could someone please pass the brain bleach!

  • I was the same age as these kids, they used to show an episode a week for our class at school. I suppose it's coz they really encouraged imagination at that time that none of us got weirded out by it...everything was straight from a dream and would be completely logical for a 5 year old at the time

  • @Musemistress Too right about that!

  • I like how the children aren't intimidated by Mr. Fish.

  • AHHHH THE DOLL WITH NO FACE AND THE BACKPACKS WITH TEETH AND MR. FISH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HELP MEEEEEEEE

  • I remember watching this early in the morning from 6am, here in London. I don't know why they didn't show it after school.

  • @ItsOver9000and10 I think you've answered your own question.

  • @masterawesomeish

    I beg your pardon?

  • @totallynothere hated the guy!

  • Comment removed

  • kids always know what's right and wrong - somehow, we loose that as adults

  • If I saw a faceless doll come to life like that I'd be scarred for life.

  • It's a doll? It was a god damned doll the whole time? I always thought it was meant to be an actual giant baby with no face. Turns out it's a doll. The doll from Terror of the Autons. Oh, and now they're talking to a giant prehensile asparagus with a single gimlet eyeball. What the hell, Australia. Australia god damn it.

  • Where's part 2????

  • is this show not made by stoners and psychonauts???

    its called lift off...

its about all kinds of weird shit

talking bags and scary puppets and a faceless and speechless doll

you ask me, its a bad trip come true!...and its fair similar to round the twist

  • This show was creepy as hell. I'm 21 and that doll still makes me uneasy.

  • I've been on a quest to track down all my shows from when I was a kid and this one has taken the longest to find. I'm so happy I finally found it :D

  • I got E.C when i was a kid!

  • If a doll like that came to life, I would scream and run. D:

  • @maiamizu well they clearly are used to this sort of phenomena - as they were chatting to that potplant quite haphazardly.

  • @maiamizu go watch a movie called chucky

  • that doll really needs a face...creepy

  • Woah now that brings back so many memories i remember watching liftoff as a kid after school lol MR FISH was a fucking asshole lol

  • "it's pretty yucky" LOL

I totally remember this doll! How weird is it that that is still in my memory!

  • hahahaha it's funny coz this was my all time favourite show but now watching it again it's so freaky wierd! lol

  • That plant is definitely phallic! Plus! this programme features children......Need I say more?

  • I used to have a huuuuuuuuuuuuge crush on Poss, the blonde girl. And then I met her at a Lift-Off convention and I remember she kept looking down at me (probably because I was looking at her) but she was right above me on stage and I could see up her top lol. And my mum was really rude to her!

  • i'm surprised this didn't use to freak me out more when I was young. the plant is a bit....as well.

  • I'd throw that ugly thing away too....

  • did anyone actually watch or enjoy this show?or did it just freak us out with that faceless doll? ick.

  • i totally forgot about beverly...ahh so many childhood memories...

  • omg wtf! i vaguely remember this..it's like it's stuck in my subconcious because i was too young, but now these images seem so familiar

  • omg... i rememebr this vaguely but i remember it

  • Was there ever one episdoe where a little boy uses too much bubbles in his bath because I seem to remember that scene and I remember the girl putting bubbles on the dolls head.

  • Yeh. I remember that too. How about the one where the girl is afraid of the water. That actually scared me when I was younger.

  • I remember hating and being scared of this show because it had real people in it and I felt outcasted and preferred cartoons. Sad but totally true hahah!

  • haha

    i know how you feel

especially the ones with cartoon intros and you'd think they were cartoons until "real" people popped up. Except for round the twist. :P

  • agreed!

  • I LOVED THAT SHOW!

And EC is so precious and strange!

    *sigh*

    Great memories. :)

  • Now that I am looking back on this, everything was really freaky! I used to love this show as a child. It was the only one, appart from Rocko's modern life that I would actually watch.

  • kims dad is karl out of neighbours.

  • I loved this show as a kid, so cool. Do the young actors/actresses still act nowadays? last time i saw them was on this show

  • Luke Carroll still Acts.

  • OMG i remember this!!! Theyre pretty good little actors

  • there is no god!

  • Mr Fish, the one-eyed plant, the psychotropic talking lift, the blank-faced doll, the talking bags... try and find me a kid's show these days that's as possumshit crazy as Lift Off used to be... they don't make them like they used to

  • hahahaha. exactly my sentiment.

  • Haha, I miss that australian accent....aussie kids just don't speak like that any more which is a shame.....even the vietnamese girl has a genuine aussie accent

  • the doll and them things that lived under the guys bed scared me heaps haha

  • And the kids arent freaked out by a faceless doll that comes to life?! You are so accepting as a kid...

  • Yesh, 90's Kids show were freaking existentialist trips through time and dimensions. Talking elevators, reminiscent of HAL... My gawd, its a bit like subliminal programming... our generations drug epidemic, the ever growing push to escape reality! Its all here!!! AHHHH!

  • My god! Lift off! I was similtaneously freaked out completely and entranced by this show when i was a little nipper. Yes, Mr Fish was such an ass, and EC doll, ooh, shivers down the spine. You never enjoy a tv show quite as much as the ones that you saw when you were 5...

  • omg! I used to love this show when I was little!
