I think this video clearly shows why so many folks have trouble learning sweeping or..anything for that matter. They are more concerned about the sustain of his guitar, his pickups etc etc than learning how to actually do it or at least wonder how to...
Hey guys tell me what guitars you have and what you play I Have three us strats a schecter hellraiser and a schecter blackhawk with emgs my fave is definitely my black hawk
Hey guys tell me what guitars you have and what you play I Have three us strats a schecter hellraiser and a schecter blackhawk with emgs my fave is definitely my black hawk
GUYS he's using a sustainiac pickup that basically means unlimited sustain.. Look it up. You can tell by the switches next to the pickup switch. trust me look it up that's why he has unlimited sustain.
@bigsiqc and @slasherz03 - His guitar doesn't have a sustainer on it (I have been up close to his v220). One, the pickups are really HOT (like 12.5v on the OHM meter) and secondly the vibrato he uses increases sustain. Lastly, his set up is not what you would expect...the strings are actually pretty high off the fretboard, which increases the sustain even more.
idk i started playing guitar 5 months ago never even touched one ,have been looking up videos on the internet since then and have made tremendous progress by practising every day
Get a neck-through guitar with a nice, solid , preferably fixed bridge, ooh kinda like this awesome Carvin V220, raise the action, use heavier strings, use a ton of gain, and some more volume would help to.
@zander742 it's a sustain pick up that he's using. that's why he keeps messing with that switch. john petrucci's music man guitar has the same set up.
@zander742 He has a sustainer in his guitar "Fernandes" or something I think Those two little black switches lol, Matt Bellamy from Muse has them in his Mansons :P
@bigsiqc not a fernandez sustainer, those are like single coil pickups and dont work with H/H guitars. Thats probably an emg booster thingy, and hes probably using a compressor. Boosted livewire/emg81 + neckthru guitar + string thru body + compression pedal = mad sustain
@zander742 Fernandez sustainer kit, it replaces the neck humbucker with a sustainer and then you can hit a note and play it forever basically. The two small switches on the guitar right next to each other turn it on and off and have a harmonizer on it.
@zander742 it's not something that he does...the good guitar has good sustain and the sound stays for a long time like this one...it's not a technique :)
What gear are you using? Do you use tube or transistor amp? I, myself have a Randall, wich is tube amp and I really love the sound, when I play riffs or some shredding stuff, but se sound is kinda too hard for sweeping. You know what I mean. Theres kinda too much attack. When sweeping, I mysef prefer that kind of sound that you have wich is "softer". Sorry my primitive english. :D
