  • haha, When i used to be stuck, years ago I've tried that also.

    Good old days

  • sweet... I love the bugs that appear because the developers never intended it to be possible.

  • done this when i was young ^^ didnt know it was hard it look like fairly easy when i was doing this ;)

  • I got the map to maridia without the gravity suit.

  • ole tu tiempo libre. thx for the vid.

  • I did this all accidentally because i somehow managed to completely skip crocomire and the gravity suit.

  • i didnt even think that was possible!

  • hey! 9:40 "that one bug that looks like a croissant that you can freeze and use as a platform"!

  • well not this I had no grapple. I mean a short running through the sandy areas and fighting phantoon.

  • Thumbs up if you did this the first time you played the game because you were lost and had absolutly no clue.........

  • Like someone said, it's possible to get here without the graple, i mannaged it once. some years ago.. took a lot of time.. and it sure was frustating haha.

ooh btw, now watching it at the middle part... you could have skipped this whole bit..

Instead of taking the most highest door, you could take a lower one, and then contineu through the dessert part, in that case you don't even need the ice beam..

save a few minutes though.. and it doesn't need the speed booster in any way..

  • Like someone said, it's possible to get here without the graple, i mannaged it once. some years ago.. took a lot of time.. and it sure was frustating haha.

  • ROFl at 6:23 - 7:14 that must've been frusterating XD

  • could u beat draygon without the suit? or like get to draygon?

  • This might be useful in a Super Metroid Reverse Boss Order run... or even a Super Metroid Impossible Reverse Boss Order Run.

  • You can get to this point without the grapple or ice beam as well

  • The boss name is Phantoon.

  • 7:59 a metroid :3

  • @nickxxx007 It's a mochtroid, man!

  • In the words of the Oracle "Whats really going to bake your noodle later on is....". "Yeah its gonna be trying to copy this vid"

    Good job though sir!

  • the boss is phantoon

  • Talk about, not making it easy for yourself..

  • I did this >:3 Pain in the rear!

  • @Hadriex Oh, I thought you went and killed Draygon too. O_O You can do that too. I did that. It was horrib- I mean time consuming XD The worst part is crossing the sand pit. You can't bomb jump, so you have to morph into a ball while jumping, in little boxes that are 3 tiles wide :(

Crystal flashing while fighting draygon isn't very comfy either XD

  • this was crazy

i did it after a million trys!!!

  • Damn, it would have been awesome to get an early Gravity suit before Phantoon... oh well, the programmers ruined it... so much for sequence breaking...

  • I always thought you had to do it this way... I never got the Gravity suit until a little after Maridia, haha! I was always like

"Darn! This woulda come in handy back there!"

  • @CriticsConfession me to lol i always got it after MARIDIA

  • @CriticsConfession

    Lol I bet : j

  • When I was a little kid I rented this and it was one of myt first times playing it, and when I loaded the game another person had played I started in Maridia without the gravity suit.

  • Yeah, I tried this my first time playing this on release date...and realized I was insane and going the wrong way, LOL. So I left out and went the other way.

  • omfg i got myself past the other part and saved deep in mardia now im stuck T~T

  • craziness

  • impressive. SM is my favorite game of all time. :D thye don't make any games like it these days (except for metroid: Zero mission, whcih i have played through 100 times, just like all the other metroids.

  • I hate that place so F*&*( bad

  • Anyone notice that around 12:40 when he enters the area with the spikes those lil beeps? It's the same few notes you hear in the Spin Attack's intro to all their videos.

  • I was surprised when I saw that the Gravity Suit wasn't there after all of that.

It would have been awesome to see how well the fight with Phantoon would have gone with the Gravity Suit rather than the Varia.

Oh well, it's interesting to see how the game was programmed.

  • I dug out the SNES a few days ago, and Super Metroid was the immediate go-to-game.

15 years old, and with more re-playability, possibility, and gaming awesomeness than a lot of what comes out today, so good

  • I went from Maridia's back route to the Wrecked ship and got the suit early.

Pretty nifty stuff, SM is so interesting :D

  • You're great newwerguy, i am sure impressed how are you playing ^_^, sigh* i misss this game T_T, it's my favorite game

  • I went through Maridia without the gravity suit the first 4 times I went through the game cuz I thought that was the real way to go...

Also if you think that's hard, try getting the Spring Ball without the gravity suit, now that, is hard!

I'm pretty much a pro at doing this now though.

  • Holy mama what a headache.

The first time I went through Maridia with BOTH the gravity suit and the space jump, I still couldn't even get around.

    Damn that quicksand gayness. =p

    Major propage. You go girl.

  • Ugh, whaqt i scarey stunt!

  • Correction- the reward for completing this is FEELING AWESOME.

Metroid is all about messin' with the lvls with your mad SKILLZZ. XP

  • i like all of the music like borister, nonfire, and the water place.not out side or the first place you enter

  • Um *cough* Brinstar *cough* Norfair.

Not Bonister and nonfire you twiitt!

  • Shooting for the missile tank at 05:17 was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I've done this route before on a whim, and it's INCREDIBLY frustrating....I'm just glad I finally picked up the Gravity Suit after it all, after several wrong moves, that is.

  • when i first played this i thought you had to go through maridia without the gravity suit. and i did it. wast of a day

  • I just accomplished the same thing earlier today. However, I took a different route to reach Maridia's "Super Missile Tunnel".

  • I came here by mistake without the gravity suit and atempted this, and I have to say its extremely frustrating. I gave up well before this guy did, but because I got stuck and didnt know what to do next. This has gotta be the most frustrating possible scenario in this game.

  • Here's a challenge: Try crossing Maridia with the power suit, and without the grapple hook. It's extremely hard, but it's possible! It's not worth making a video however, cause it would be many parts.

  • Didnt Cpadolf do that?

  • Odd, I tried go this road earlier myself (with Gravity Suit), yet the X-Ray scope didn't pick up the hidden passageway at the entrance to Maridia. Guess I'll have to look again.

Interesting video nonetheless, I'll give this a try myself later as well.

  • 12:56 samus:wTf!!!

well done, i only did it directly, without going by the road of up.

    5 stars

  • I'm going to attempt this now. I love this game and I want to get a new challenge out of it.

  • theres a metroid at 7:58 in the warp tunnel see it?

  • thats actually a mochtroid. a pathetic attempt from the space pirates 2 try and make their own metroids.

  • nice ^_^

imma buy this game on my wii's shop channal =]

  • Why didn't you try getting to Draygon? Is it even possible to get to him without the Gravity suit? Still, AWESOME video!

  • O_o How much patience does one have to do this?

  • i was thinking the same thing i would get agitated by the sand part:P

  • LAWLZ!!! YOOZ KRAZY!

  • ouch I tried this 10 years ago without any luck :(

  • lol I remember when I tried this,It took FOREVER!! Congrats,man

  • Once you exit the warp tunnel at 8:02, why does your Varia suit start behaving like a Gravity suit?

  • Because at that point he's not in water anymore.

  • hey y did some1 not like my comment? i was just asking a question

  • I noticed you did this on ZSNES.

  • hows that

looks alot like mine, i have the VC version of it.

    .... whats the ZSNES

  • The ZSNES is an SNES Emulator for PC. I use SNES 9X, because savestates feel more friendly.

  • zsnes?

  • *facepalms* It's an SNES Emulator for PC. If you look at 4:07, it says "State 1 Saved". And I use SNES 9X, I know the difference between the two PC emulators. The Virtual Console doesn't use a savestate system.

  • seems possible ... besides the huge jump at 0:29 =/

    how do you do that

i have SM on the VC :P

  • haha.. I didnt even notice that! that's nuts!

  • that was insane!

  • "interesting note, after you beat the boss in the Wrecked Ship (forget it's name), the door at 12:16 becomes a red door, despite me having already gone through it." The name of the Boss you speak of is called the "Ghost of Mother Brain" Only reason why it's called that is that the other one was defeated before hand and it's the ghost ya fight.

  • yup i love metroid!!

  • reminds me of brawl samus

  • you are a big nentendo fan metroid and starfox are my favorite your ok in my book

  • I have on snes (not on an emulator) went the way too the right after the room were you break the glass. In the end, this will get you too the room you are in 7:15. But since I havnt done it on an emulator, I can't upload it

  • So, 00:29. How do you pull it of?

  • I just tried the same but make me bored and then not continue. Yes, is possible skipping some things (I don't mean secrets, I mean items like that suit what you must have). I in mistake just skiped some (trying to reach a level that I don't must to be, hahaha, that was so hard and I just think: How this game is so hard if I remember what it did not so hard?) Not I was forgeting an important item :P

    bye

  • alx you are right this is the best metroid much better than corruption.i love this game too

  • dude 00:29 is like crazy.andOMG!!!O_O

  • this is the best metroid much better than corruption

  • good jobe m8 i did it in 9.03

btw youtube removed my vid ill post soon

  • were is the jump were you keep spinning i cant find it

  • do you mean Spin Jump? just walk and jump.

  • aah, now i know what you mean. Space jump is in room that is behind Draygons room. Got it?

  • there is a little reward, if you shoot the door at 12:16 again and go back there after you defeat the boss, the door at 12:16 don't become a red door, it's a blue door, same with the door with the e-tank room. Tested by myself.

  • How did you get your video over 10 minutes long?

  • I signed up for director about a year ago, before Youtube stopped 10 minute videos. Per their policy, anyone with this privilege was able to keep it after this went into place

  • @TheNewerGuy YouTube sucks. Anyway, here are some underwater jumping mechanics that might help you; if you crouch and then jump, you go one pixel higher, and if you turn into a Morph Ball at the very height of your jump, you go higher by another pixel. Small, yes, but it will still help you. Also, even when on dry land, you move forward a pixel everytime you change the angle at which you're aiming. Warning, underwater jumping mechanics don't apply to Gravity Suit.

  • the gamefaqs glitch faq was the place thenewerguy got this from.

  • Don't worry about it, it's called 'Red Brinstar', found out shortly after asking.

  • What's the 'name' of that song that plays :21 through :34? It'd be good if I could record or download it... Yes, I realize there's a newer version of it in Metroid Prime 2, and I already have that downloaded, but it'd be nice to have the original thing, too.

  • The song, I don't know the name. I'm sorry, buy you'll have to ask someone else.

  • Hmm... This reminds me of part of a challenge i just recxently made for super metroid. If i would of known this was possible before making the challenge, I wouldve put it in there!

  • What is the best PC on-screen recorder? It always lag on mine and I can barely record and its VERY slow. Even with my 2.70 GHz and 1 GB RAM. I use ZSNES 1.37 and 1.5 but I also have on regular SNES and on wii. Yup, I have everything.

  • I remember I done that once, I got the entire way up to the water room in the wrecked ship only to find that the energy tank there doesn't appear until after you beat phantoon. The best no boss run I managed to get the screw attack. Then my file erased :(

  • Phantoon is the Wrecked Ship boss :)

  • Here's some fun... try doing it on a no boss/mini-boss run... without the gravity suit... THAT'S frustrating... LOL

Yes, BTW... I've done it on the console...

    >.>

  • Oh good god thats difficult. And you dont have the grapling beam either so you have to abuse the hell out of crabs.. Though I would say Lower Norfair without the varia is by far the hardest challenge >>

  • Lava is different than water. Beside hurting, the movement is different. You can do wall kick in lava but not in water. Go ahead and try them yourself.

  • Really? I will have to try that

Best recorder, you'll have to keep looking, because I don't know the best. I use Rendersoft Camstudio, but there has to be something better out there.

  • nice

  • no i still have to beat kraid. its very tricky but how i do it is i grab the high jump boots and the spazer than i use wall jump to go up the level and get the super bomb and get back to the ship, than i used it to get a bunch of energy tanks which i used to get through nofair by running as fast as i could through the first few rooms so that i could reach the heat free room next to the save place.

  • I know how it works, i'm just saying, your comment says you can go through without killing Kraid, I was saying you have to beat Kraid to beat the game anyway.

  • i can skip the varia suit and go through nofair without killing kraid.

  • Good for you.

Though unless you can somehow find a way to glitch through it, you still need to beat kraid to beat the game.

  • but other wise nota cuzz i have played metriod and goten a full speed perfect time run of 2:45 on it

  • the place you made look easy

  • dude!!!! after 7 hours of pain i did it i crossed maridia without g suit but it took me 7 hours

  • takes patience for people who aren't familiar with the run. Where'd you get stuck the most?

  • me to :P but still i was just sayin i don have it for the cp only my very old Snes so ya lol

  • If you get near any of the "trap" spots in the video, can you tell me where they are?

  • I'm pretty sure that if you fall in the right spot in the grapple room, you can get stuck, but I don't quite remember.

If you use the other quicksand trap at 5:00, you can get stuck in the sand if you lose sight of an enemy you have to freeze to get to the next room and if you get grabbed by the claw at 8:37, I think you can't get out of where it dumps you.

  • dude i don't have a emulater version of this so i don have tool assistance at all....this will be a challange

  • Just because I use an emulator doesn't mean I use tool assistance. Save states are the most I use, and even those are used sparingly, only when things can go horribly wrong (the reason why I saved a state just after the grapple room).

To be honest, i'm not sure how to use most tools on an emulator, I just play the games.

  • ok i'll try it with my real copy but if i can't do it oo laa laalol

  • Go for it, but i'm telling you, no tool assistance.

Also, warm up that reset button, it is very easy to screw this up, and it is very easy to get stuck in a place you can't get out of.

  • Also, the wall kick segment at 7:48, I made it look easy, but that is actually the most frustrating than it looks, it is very hard to judge when you can make the landing.

  • I remember trying this, except I was confused and was trying to figure out where to go... *sigh*

  • It is very confusing, especially that first climb, I mean, even in the video I have problems getting around the place. I still don't know how I figured out the whole path.

  • Awesome. I always wanted to play this, but never took the time to actually play it. I'm gonna go play this now.

  • Did you use a gamepad?

  • Yep

  • What kind and where did you get it?

  • Logitech Dual Action Pro, found it at a Circuit City, the controller model is very much based of a PS2 Analog controller.

  • dude i have this game for the snes and no way can you do that .....but i did mange to beet the game with 5 energy tanks

  • It's completely possible, i've pulled this off on a real copy.

  • Looks pretty tough. Nice job.
