I remember stealing my older sister's cassette copy of Zenyatta Mondatta to the point my mother had to buy me my own copy in Spring 1986. The Police still kick ass today.
PURE EARGASM!!! stewart's locked into that snare, sting holdn it down with the funky low end and vocals and andy pulln up the rear with some mean guitar licks!!!
Funny, the press dwells on how their friction. But in an interview I read on line yrs ago dude made the mistake of asking Sting about not getting along with them. Sting called BS & said they butted heads because they were all so creative but Copeland & Summers are friends & he greatly respects their talent. In fact he said that at least to that time he'd send his solo recordings to Copeland before mastering because he trusted his opinion so much. An insanely talented/original group of artists!
@ redfishradical So true! Some songs I get hooked on and listen to over and over and several of The Police songs are like this and this one for sure. I had not heard this before today in years and cant stop hitting replay :) There is SOMETHING about the feel of some of their songs during that time frame that left one in a certain mood feeling a certain way that was different. Peace to you too and to all of you!
@LuchiaTheGypsyFox You're absolutely right, there is a palpable vibe from these guys, esp. Regatta De Blanc & Zenyatta that just leaves you up no matter what the hell is going on in your life. Man if I'm writing or something at my desk & this comes on I bust out some serious chair dancing! ;-) Peace out my friend!
It doesn't matter if you're black or white...good music is good music and The Police is proof of that! Damn this is a good ass record!! Damn urban radio stations for not playing this when it was releasesd!!
This was me & my inner circle of buddies I graduated highschool withs them song! Love it just as much today as I did back then. Wore out several copies on vinyl, a few casettes then finally got CDs when they came out! This is a song I can NEVER listen to just once. Just stick it on repeat & let it go... I grew up on Zep etc. but think the Police are one of the seminal groups rock music has produced or ever will produce. Hey, and really nice job on the slide show Brother! Peace!
The lyrics kinds describe where I'm at right now. Turn on the Video Game Same one I had for years Street Fighter Collection Same game I've had for years I drive around my old car Same one 13 years Headlights are running out Same ones I had for years When I get lonely Turn on Black Booty Babes Only porn I own Wanking off I hate When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around
Andy could've done tons of things with his uitar solo spot. He chose to play ONE NOTE and it all makes sense.

One pitiful sole disliked this song
Probably based on thinking about repentance instead of enjoying the last
days or something crazy like that.

Awesome but unexplicably you deleted the great drum snare crack at the beginning of the song...what a shame, very nice otherwise.
