LOL! I read the actual words. Jobson truncates words and it is almost impossible to figure out what he is singing. Maxell nailed it. The Skids were awesome and Jobson's words, for a man that young, were very good. The "all systems failing" and other things alluded to in the song are very appicable to today.
On here somewhere you will find plenty of songs where some wag has improvised lyrics, my favourite all time track - complete control by the clash gets the treatment absolute quality, if you type in the clash complete control mis heard lyrics it should offer a few choices pick the one with father christmas.
"juicy men embalmed her!" rofl. I remember reading the real lyrics for this for the first time and going "Oh THAT'S what it is!!" That was in I think 1978/79 and I can for some reason still remember all the bloody words to this day. Loved the Skids but Jobson didn't half write some pretentious twat lyrics ;-)
Into the valley Betrothed and divine Realisations no virtue But who can define Why soldiers go marching Those masses a line This disease is catching From victory to stone Ahoy! Ahoy! Land, sea and sky Ahoy! Ahoy! Boy, man and soldier Ahoy! Ahoy! Deceived and then punctured Ahoy! Ahoy! Long may they die
I love The Skids but I never knew about this video. I used to vaguely know Jobbo and I'm sure he was big-hearted enough to laugh at it. But what a great band. Shame about Stuart Adamson's end, RIP big man.
Richard Jobson hated this because it trivialised a song that was actually about his mates in the army being sent to Northern Ireland. But Stuart Adamson overruled him
That brings back the memories of a misspent youth! Would you believe that after all those years I still remembered the lyrics?! Thanks for posting this clip :-D
S'funny. I always thought Into The Valley was about kids off the dole signin up for the army cos the army ads were so cool. Then gettin slaughtered in Northern Ireland. Glad Stuart Adamson aint alive to see wot theyve done to his song...

Has anyone seen the other video like this but it uses a song with the words 'The Israelites'..and the guy shows cards saying 'my ears are alight' - too funny,id like to see it again.
Been looking for these alternative lyrics for ages, I could only remember barman & soda (the original lyric of course). My favourite ever ad, so funny.
AHOY AHOY ! Land sea and sky.AHOY AHOY ! Boy man and soldier ,AHOY AHOY!Decieved and then punctured. AHOY AHOY !Long may they die . Bob Dylan , John Lennon? ...noooooo...Jobson/Adamson!
Fan-tastic, no sooner had I casually mentioned that I thought that there WAS another Maxell ad featuring Into the valley and amazingly it was here. This IS what he says isn't it??
