So I guess just making parallel is good enough squat depth as long as you are squating over 900 with a triple ply suit on. Were there any judges at all at this meet or did they just pull someone out of the audience
I have to agree with sr19. These guys are not at proper depth although they are handling lots of weight. Just watch an IPF meet and you will see the difference.
that guy that got a nose bleed, that is scary. just think of the increased blood pressure generated from squatting those weights in super tight gear, just the same way that an artery burst in his nose, an artery could also burst in his brain and cause stroke or brain damage. Im not really understanding the concept of wrapping yourself in super tight gear to move weight in a federation with shortens the distance and slacks on judging criteria. so unhealthy and dangerous for the blood vessels.
@hybridman It's not the wrapping that causes the nosebleeds. It's increased diastolic blood pressure from a valsalva maneuver that comes from weight lifitng period. Steroids help this because your diastolic is elevated to begin with, and then getting your air in to stay tight enough to move that much weight does the trick.
the human body wouldnt let you go any deeper with these immence weights, anyone who doesnt think they are giving it 100% check out the guy at 1min40, pops a nose bleed with the drive back up,
sr19, where the hell does your hip crease start....at the belly button? I'd say those squats were legit. The only time I go passed 90, is with 60 percent (of my max) and that's to improve my max squat.
no one is dissing these guys. no one is saying that they are not crazy strong. but the fact is that you do not have to squat 800+ to notice that none of these guys are going to proper depth (which is NOT defined as legs hitting 90 degrees, wpo rulebook stated that the crease of the hip should come lower than the top of the knees).
and the whole point of sanctioned sport is that they have uniform strict objective rules to determine a fair winner. as far as i can see, the refs cant squat 900, but they are allowed to fail the lift. the whole 'i would love to see you try it' is a completely nonsense argument. and just because it is a monster amount of weight, it doesnt mean that they should automatically have the lift. people have run 100m 0.5 seconds slower than bolt, amazing feats, but they still lost.
i love watching squating ive been working out for the last 2 months and im coming up to 100kg in 2 more workouts cant wait for it man im so pumped
btw tho i got way lower then these guys do, i go till my thighs are lower then my knees in comp like this they dont have to go that low but its alot better to go lower when in training
they are doing partial squats alot of builders will argue the point of which to go but the truth is nobody really knows, personal pref in my opinion i like to go lower
you can squat more with a wider stance, at least with a suit on, and probably w/o a suit because you don`t have to go down as far and you have a wider base. work your hams, hips, and glutes as assistant exercises.
wpo are a joke of a fed. every squat is way above parallel, the equipment that is allowed is ridiculous, all they care about are numbers. one, maybye 2 squats were legal, but they were on the very edge. i aint talkin atg, but official wpo rules state that a squat is only legal if the crease of the hip is LOWER than the top of the knee, very few even broke parallel.
what a lot crap, take the gear off and squat like men,Paul Anderson could squat more with no belt,no wraps,no spoters, and to me the world recored total is still Kazmaier's 1100kg Raw.
what? well for one, you obviously are talking out your ass! cause apparently, you have no idea what your talking about! 1) the squat gear he has on, barely takes of maybe a 100 pounds! 2) squating as much and as heavy as these people do, no belt would eventually cripple them! 3) bill kasmaier's 1100kg squat???? that 2425lbs you idiot!
and if the squat gear only gives you 100lbs.how come the unaquiped world recored is only 948lbs(mark Henry)and the WPO recored is over 1200lbs? you are the idiot, this equipment is doing what Anobolic stearoids could never do add 250lbs over night to your squat.
Now ask yourself, what does that prove? You still don't have the strength to pull off a full squat with the same weight as those 'above' parallel lifts you're so fond of. Bravo, good show.
Out of all these squats, maybe a handful even hit parallel, and none of them hit below parallel, which you should really do for a full squat. So, in essence, these are half squat competitions. Not really very interesting. I'd rather see people squatting 700 or 800 and going all the way than these ridiculous weights being squatted halfway.
DUDE! you computer must distort the video, or something! 2 of these guys are arguably not deep enough! but every one of them is hitting parallel! plus, world competition are not half squat!
The 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th squat was parallel, the rest didn't even hit parallel, and none of them were deep enough or "sat down" all the way. That's why these competitions aren't interesting to watch, because only a handful of these competitors are truly strong enough to squat that amount of weight all the way down. Watch the video and count the squats in order, and tell me my figures vary significantly.
yea, exactly, all but like 2 are parallel! plus the weight there is huge, and there still sitting there ass down! why go lower then you have to, when your shooting for a world record! i'm sure all of these guys can go below parallel, but don't have to in a comp!
Nonsense. About half of them are parallel, and I was being generous. A squat isn't a squat until you BREAK parallel, not just barely touch parallel. I don't care if it's 1,000 lbs or 10,000 lbs, a full squat is a full squat. If you can't fully squat 1,000 lbs, what is your ass doing in a powerlifting meet? Seems foolish to me. That's like saying you can bench press 1400 lbs 1/4 of the way down to your chest.
dude! that is not a full squat! that's just the way you were taught! every single competition says a full squat is when the legs are parallel to the floor! that is a full squat! yea you can get more depth on a squat for sure, but thats not considered a full squat! so stop acting like you no tons of shit dude!
WPC/WPO might be the ultimate level in powerlifting, but I prefer IPF. WPO is way harder and tougher, since your dealing with heavy ass weight and you have to be very strong to even compete with these guys! but the rules are not even close as strict as in IPF, especially in squat and benchpress. but then again, there's different standards in WPO. The equippments are better but not easy to handle.
light on rules, but general strength is amazing to be fair, i would like to know what these guys could do totally raw tho, LAST 2 SQUATS WERE GOOD !!!!
It is what it is. The in-place squat with a movable rack does give a huge advantage for the lifter. It should not be compared to a regular walk-out and squat meet. It is nontheless interesting. I'd like to test my strength with both types of contest. Why be son negative? As long as everybody knows they are different contests... what's the harm?
I agree man good comment, Of course not walking out is a huge advantage, but no matter what these guys can lift some good weight, I thought we were all supposed support each other in the sport of powerlifting
why o why do we put up with this rubbish, IPF single ply 2 metre wraps, walk oUt with the weight squat deep walk back in with it. tell me honestly how many of these " so called super men" could squat more than 350 kg in THE REAL WORLD OF POWERLIFTING" YES the IPF.
I would love to see the top boys from all these bullshit bodies compete the top IPF boys enough said.
one last thing ask yourself do you wonder why these guys do not compete in Stricter
You seem to be jealous of these guys strength. I'll have you know most of these guys could walk and squat 350kg raw, these people are freaks, but i do agree that the judging was slack at this one, but that is not always the case. These guys do compete at very strict events most of the time. Oh and by the way i think one of our boys just did go to an IPF meet, Charles Bailey squatted 1100pds in single ply gear and walked out and he is only 275.
You guys have heard for me.I am one of the most famous IPF lifters. I will remain anonymous because I don't want to insult my coleagues from WPO , WPA etc. Remember again !This way of squat can be performed even better by lot of us.Sorry for possible mistakes I am from Europe and English is not my mother tongue.
wow these guys are truly strong i ope i grow up to be as strong as they are , right now at the moment i can only squat 455 at age of 16 so i dont know if thats good or not oh and i way 245 pounds
I'm about to turn 16 and I can prolly squat 350-375, I weigh 200 lbs. But i dont want to be that strong, I just want to be a successful football player.
I'm all about the USAPL and IPF but even I have to admit that Pro Powerlifting is very exciting. Put on all the gear you want and lift it. What can be more simple to understand. As long as they don't try to lift in the USAPL as Ed Coan tried (and hypocritically failed multiple times for lifting doped against those that tested clean) then I'm all good with it. Much respect.
Of course fjhodges, since any squalid monkey can put on a suit and squat 900lbs+ pounds. In fact, the suit does it all by itself. All a man has to do is put the suit and the pounds go up and down by themselves. Yay!!!
no one is arguing that these are not strong people but if p-owerlifting is a battle between athletes to out-lift eachother i dont understand the reliance on gear. surely a true test of strength is man vs man. it seems that all powerlifting is is a battle to raise world records
Good point. However, if athletes use minimal gear and if all of them use the same, then it still remains a valid test.
There is a valid use for gear. Mouth guards and hand wraps for fighters, thick gloves for baseball catchers, even chalk for lifting. They all have their purpose.
But you are right, when gear gets abused and when some use better gear than others, then it robs it of some legitimacy.
There need to be two categories on the books, squats, and half squats. Half squatting 1000 pounds is amazing, but it's not fair to call it a full squat...cuz it isn't. difference between a half squat and full squat is like the difference between night and day.
You only need to go parallel in powerlifting, and for those who think all atheletes in the BPO use drugs, i'm one of the very few who doesn't, and I keep up (just). Someday, that 800lb squat will be mine.
I agree that the triple/double ply suits should be banned, and also, in the IPF, you're allowed to use that stuff, so for someone in the IPF to say they don't agree, is just being a tit really.
IPF doesn't allow double or triple ply suits, or briefs. Single ply poly suit/shirt and 2metre wraps is all the gear you're allowed (apart from belt and wrist wraps which you're allowed in raw meets).
by wrist wraps, do you mean straps for grip? or proper wrist support, like knee wraps?
Being BPO, am not completley familliar with IPF rules, yet I was going by what my buddy said, as he is IPF and of course, doesn't like BPO ;) but we're all lifters alike.
Well if you're going to say something, make sure it's right, otherwise you make yourself look a bit silly. The wraps support the wrist much like a knee wrap. Straps that you wrap around the bar are not permitted.
theres a lot of criticing done on here , id like to see some of you guys do even half of wat these guys are doing . tho i do agree about the suits im not a fan of those !!!!!!!!!
depth is not brilliant, but most of them still squat over 1000lbs which is fukin impressive n e wayz.
ben! u say u can do 500raw with a walkout, and say you can get insane weight by using a monorack, and a suit, id luv u to take 1000lbs out of a monolift, and watch it f***n crush u
1st guy - too high, hope he got 3 reds. 2nd guy - deep enough, good lift. 3rd guy - just like the 1st. 4th guy - he barely hit parallel. and another barely parallel. then a bloody nose...I had to stop; hope the crowd got a refund.
Noticed that did you? Where was the lockout before racking it? I didn't see a single one. And what can they do RAW? Yeah, they are strong, but still, you either got it(by the rules we all live by)or you didn't.
hmmm some dodgy valid squats - the finn seemed top be the only one breaking parallel.
Before you start I'm an experienced lifter - done 340kg in the style of squats that they are doing - ie not fully down - And 282.5kg full - with no knee wraps or body suits - only a small weight belt for support.
your an absolute idiot, you aparantly dont know the rules, your hips need to break parallel, so get your eyes checked they were fukin breakin parallel i was there

But you are right, when gear gets abused and when some use better gear than others, then it robs it of some legitimacy.

There need to be two categories on the books, squats, and half squats. Half squatting 1000 pounds is amazing, but it's not fair to call it a full squat...cuz it isn't. difference between a half squat and full squat is like the difference between night and day.
diggler2728 4 years ago 2
You only need to go parallel in powerlifting, and for those who think all atheletes in the BPO use drugs, i'm one of the very few who doesn't, and I keep up (just). Someday, that 800lb squat will be mine.
I agree that the triple/double ply suits should be banned, and also, in the IPF, you're allowed to use that stuff, so for someone in the IPF to say they don't agree, is just being a tit really.
Antitank1350 4 years ago
IPF doesn't allow double or triple ply suits, or briefs. Single ply poly suit/shirt and 2metre wraps is all the gear you're allowed (apart from belt and wrist wraps which you're allowed in raw meets).
Get it right...
yamanmustafa 4 years ago
okay man, sorry, my bad ;)
by wrist wraps, do you mean straps for grip? or proper wrist support, like knee wraps?
Being BPO, am not completley familliar with IPF rules, yet I was going by what my buddy said, as he is IPF and of course, doesn't like BPO ;) but we're all lifters alike.
Antitank1350 4 years ago
Well if you're going to say something, make sure it's right, otherwise you make yourself look a bit silly. The wraps support the wrist much like a knee wrap. Straps that you wrap around the bar are not permitted.

theres a lot of criticing done on here , id like to see some of you guys do even half of wat these guys are doing . tho i do agree about the suits im not a fan of those !!!!!!!!!
nitricstorm 4 years ago
depth is not brilliant, but most of them still squat over 1000lbs which is fukin impressive n e wayz.
ben! u say u can do 500raw with a walkout, and say you can get insane weight by using a monorack, and a suit, id luv u to take 1000lbs out of a monolift, and watch it f***n crush u
GOE1988 4 years ago
1st guy - too high, hope he got 3 reds. 2nd guy - deep enough, good lift. 3rd guy - just like the 1st. 4th guy - he barely hit parallel. and another barely parallel. then a bloody nose...I had to stop; hope the crowd got a refund.
ev1221 4 years ago
massive weights but really shit death in all over them. cant believ they passed them, but why go deeper if no one els is.
JamesPowerGriffiths 4 years ago
Noticed that did you? Where was the lockout before racking it? I didn't see a single one. And what can they do RAW? Yeah, they are strong, but still, you either got it(by the rules we all live by)or you didn't.
hogswapper 4 years ago

just incredible, nothing but respect to all those guys
dblock772003 4 years ago
some nice high squats. happens to all of us, i guess, only we get red lights when we squat like that.
kenpower888 4 years ago
AMEN!!!
pussgurka 3 years ago
hmmm some dodgy valid squats - the finn seemed top be the only one breaking parallel.
Before you start I'm an experienced lifter - done 340kg in the style of squats that they are doing - ie not fully down - And 282.5kg full - with no knee wraps or body suits - only a small weight belt for support.
Still good though to do what they are doing.
