Just so people are clear here the 03-04 cobra's could and did run mid 11's with nothing more than sticky tires and mild boltons If I had to guess I would say that cobra was putting down about 450-475hp. It's called the Terminator for a reason.
Is the GTR that slow after launch? I guess I assume it was fast from it's 1/4th time but that must be all from the 2.7 sec 0-60;) I have to find one in my crossfire and find out;) I have beaten 2 modded terminators so I will see how they compare.
that was a good race but seriously the gtr stock beats the new gt500 stock in a 1/4 mile so that shows that the 04 cobra has some things done to it but nice race n the gtr has nothing wrong with it n awd is great from a stop n from a roll its the best of both worlds.

the mustang is modded. the supercharger isisnt factory. they didnt start making a supercharger a factory option until the GT500 came out. so yeah the mustang is modded. but im sure its no where in 90k worth of mods. so its still the better deal. but then again, its a GTR. id take a GTR over most mustangs. and im a ford fan. cant deny the GTRs a nasty car. but a new BOSS 302 is king for 45k.most bad ass car on the market for under 50k
@fourmilesnipe no the cobra R was a natural aspirated and went from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and had 385 hp. im not complainig about it being supercharged.. im saying that it wasnt supercharged until 2007.
@SirProStatus no it wasnt lmfao.. i've had an 04 cobra, they come stock supercharged at 390hp. the cobra r had a supercharged 5.4.. the 94 cobra r was n/a.

A GT-R cant even be driven to its full potential on the streets of America. Put them both around ANY track and the GT-R will come through faster every single time. Ford's dying live rear axle cant keep up with the gt-r's computers that calculate hundreds of corrections per second to get faster cornering times. The GT-R is the budget supercar, it will even walk by murcielagos around tracks (top gear) and the mustang is the poor man's fast car. not even trying to be super, just kind of fast.
You never want to get a gt-r at a stop, thats a fact, most cars dont stand a chance against it on a dead stop then haul a** ........the gt-r has that advantage over most of the cars.

Ok just sticking with the facts who wilk actually go tske their gtr or boss 302 to a track? Exactly, most likely this guys who are fortunate to have such vehicles are only going to pull up to a club and show off.....go to car clubs.....or hit rhe canyons or freeways and do sum pulls but they wudnt fuck up a car in a track going around in circles.. atleast i wudnt. @cMiiKEc It takes more than money to make a car perform like a GTR, like engineering and technology. You can put 70 grand into a cobra but in the end, its still a mustang.
@ctownbeatdown911 your insane if you truly think that... if i put 40k into a cobra it would walk a gtr around the track easily... i could get the cobra down to 2900 lbs pretty easily, put in a full set of 14" carbon ceramic brakes, racing suspension all round, and generate over 700 usable HP and TQ it would walk your datsun all day long...
@ctownbeatdown911 Yes in a sense. The GTR is a unreal machine, no doubt, not gonna argue that. But an 03 Cobra can be had for roughly 22k right now. You put a Kenne Bell blower on that thing with exhaust and you have a car with 600 rwhp and IRS car for less than 30k. The 03 CObra in my book is the baddest bang for buck ride out there.
@Kdubslugga TT kits for them have come way down in price also. That's the only mod on them that tromps the Kenne bell's. either way I do agree that platform was ahead of its time. hell a stock GT500 just runs the same in the 1/4 mile as a stock terminator...that should tell you somthing!
@AudiS403 I used to have an 03 Cobra just couldnt afford the insurance. I made 365 to the tires bone stock. I did a pulley swap and exhaust and ran 11.90s. Those cars are unreal for the price.

In who's eye's is it miles better in every other aspect?Id take the cobra for 24k drop the 66k you save instead of buying the overpriced GTR and call it a day in whatever kind of racing you want to do.Please keep your electronics (hinderance in real racing) and your poor Nissan interior (not saying the cobras is better but its not a 100k car either).I know I wont have trans, brake, cooling or voided warrenty issue either and I NEVER race in wet weather AWD is useless to me.
I'm all for american muscle but lets give credit where credit is due, that 2nd run the cobra gets deep into 4th gear before he starts pulling the gtr that would put then post a quarter mile. All in all for the price it doesn't take much to get a lot of hp outta that cobra setup which I don't think was stock. Just a tune and exhaust gets u another 130hp to the wheels with that setup.
I hate how people always say " lets see it take a turn " how often do you see people racing around buildings , yes the cobra would loose in a track but a cobra is less then half the cost of this car, and most people who buy these cars could care less about racing at a track. Most go to a drag strip...a drag strip shows. How much balls your car has, a track is a mix between driver and car.
A cobra plus a kenn bell and 15k would blow your gtr Out of the water and still not even half gtr $
@tinleo333 Stock 2003 Cobras do 170 MPH. This one doesn't sound like supercharged but the normal cobra supercharger. If so, I bet it would easily top over 180 MPH.

@blazzing4321 well true but the GTR is not really made for drag. Its specifically built for the track. Hence all its gadgets and computer including AWD. The Mustang on the other hand will not come close when it comes to turns, therefore track is where it shines as just showed in this video.

@junkymuscle I have not heard of them, but a stock corvette even a z06 cannot keep up with a gtr on a track with rights and left turns. Corvette does not focus on handling compared to the gtr. Yes you can add the right parts to a vette but with factory settings i say no. Zr1 is a different story

But, it's still an '03 Cobra - useful only in a straight line, with a plastic interior, and zero respect amongst in supercar crowd. The GT-R, on the other hand, is a driver's machine - devouring 911 GT3s, Z06s, and Ferraris.

I used to love running my old RX-7 against Vipers & 996 Turbos because no one knew I had a 700hp beast under my hood. However, I'd drop the keys to my old RX-7, my old S2000, my old IS350, and my current RS 4 in a heartbeat to trade up to one of those bad boys. Anyone can put a rocket in a tin can and beat a GT-R. But, few would want that.
@Drive3424 ok dude that r35 was not stock. if you look at the dyno graph the hp and torque lines for the whp are at the same level. so of course the r35 would win, plus they even mentioned it had sticky tires so that probably means it had slicks which help a ton, and you cant say that any 412whp car can beat a 600+whp car even if it had awd, the SS is lighter and makes more power at the wheels, it is power to weight ration is what wins and the SS has the advantage there so fuck all imports

I wanna know what the Cobra was putting down for power. Mine dynoed 451/456, I wonder how it would match up to a GTR which is 150 pounds heavier and 412/390 to the pavement.
People need to quit talking shit about the gtr. This mustang was highly modified and to say that mustangs are a better value is stupid. The top of the line Shelby Cobra mustang costs every bit as much as a gtr yet the gtr beats it in every category and muscle car guys just cannot fact the fact that a v6 destroys any mustang stock for stock and any camaro stock for stock.
Because it is no where near stock and you have no idea what all has been done to it. A new cobra wouldn't beat the GTR. Idc if this cobra is an 03. I could take an 89 civic and strip it out and boost it and rape a gtr but that doesn't mean the civic is a better car.

Cobra 1 / GTR 0.
Ok well then if its the stock supercharger and it is 7 years old and it just put out enough power to beat a gtr then its about to break. A gtr does 0-60 in 3.5 secs and has a top speed of 200+ mph. That mustang stock is 4.5 secs to 60 and so lets not try and say that it is too stock if it just beat a gtr. Just because nissan makes it and it is a v6 doesn't make it any less of a car than a mustang, Infact in reality the gtr is everything the mustang wishes it was.
don't take it too personal, they are only machines, but it is an understatement to put a mustang down to wishing to be any other car, why? because Mustangs and Shelby are legends, and are the biggest enthusiast performance cars in history. and in no way i did say the GTR is a bad car, But i i would take a 03 cobra on a GTR any day.

My '03 has the 2.8H Kenne Bell, so I would walk a GTR then eh? I thought they were quicker than that, pathetic. And it takes no driver skill at all to perform well.
GTR are still very nice though, I like them, just disappointed in the straight line performance, christ it has 100 more HP and lost..

I'd love the chance to hand my keys over to a pro and let him race my car against a GTR on a circuit, because at my circuit, nobody pushes 100%. Point is, with all my mods, my car may outperform a GTR on a circuit, & it comes in well below the cost of a GTR.

Of course anything can be fast but I usually gauge my cars on how expensive it is to modify, reliable and streetable the car is after you modify it. If you consider those things the 03/04 Cobra is one of the best bang for the buck and best cars on the street even 7 years after its introduction! Who really wants a gutted POS Civic that needs to be repaired all of the time.

Just that most kids build them the idiot way and have them breaking down all the time! I build them around the performance part, (cams, forced induction) what ever it may be! Stangs are a force to be reckened with but GTR's well built will demolish any stang! Simply adjusting the computer will make the GTR a stang smoker!
@jrunagerj agreed. Mine has a simple 2.76 pulley, tune, and cai. Total of about 1k invested and it is 470 rwhp. More than enough for a weekend sleeper.
@jrunagerj Dude a stock GT-R would work your average pullied cobra in the 1/4. A GT-R with a tune alone will do a 10 second 1/4 and trap 10mph higher than your average pullied Cobra. Also a Pullied Cobra would get owned hard by a STOCK 2012 GT-R from a dig or a roll.

A stock z06 beats the gtr and pretty much all other current japanese supercars if you wanna call them that. And thats 130ish hp less than the zr1. Currently the zr1 is in a class of its own. And nobody will make a car that can beat it and at the same time be cheaper. And about modding the gtr, any of you have any idea how expensive it is to mod the new gtr? Ha, you could buy an 03 cobra for the price of a complete exhaust and big-brake upgrade on the gtr.

Saying that is a lot like how people rip on the opti-spark on the LT1's yet my LT1 is still running the original at 131k miles. Not to say that corvettes are the greatest car in the world, but thats sort of a bias opinion you have there. If you take care of something it'll take care of you. A corvette will last just as long as a GTR or cobra with the same driver.

A GT-R cant even be driven to its full potential on the streets of America. Put them both around ANY track and the GT-R will come through faster every single time. Ford's dying live rear axle cant keep up with the gt-r's computers that calculate hundreds of corrections per second to get faster cornering times. The GT-R is the budget supercar, it will even walk by murcielagos around tracks (top gear) and the mustang is the poor man's fast car. not even trying to be super, just kind of fast.

@ctownbeatdown911 Yes in a sense. The GTR is a unreal machine, no doubt, not gonna argue that. But an 03 Cobra can be had for roughly 22k right now. You put a Kenne Bell blower on that thing with exhaust and you have a car with 600 rwhp and IRS car for less than 30k. The 03 CObra in my book is the baddest bang for buck ride out there.

I'm all for american muscle but lets give credit where credit is due, that 2nd run the cobra gets deep into 4th gear before he starts pulling the gtr that would put then post a quarter mile. All in all for the price it doesn't take much to get a lot of hp outta that cobra setup which I don't think was stock. Just a tune and exhaust gets u another 130hp to the wheels with that setup.

I hate how people always say " lets see it take a turn " how often do you see people racing around buildings , yes the cobra would loose in a track but a cobra is less then half the cost of this car, and most people who buy these cars could care less about racing at a track. Most go to a drag strip...a drag strip shows. How much balls your car has, a track is a mix between driver and car.
A cobra plus a kenn bell and 15k would blow your gtr Out of the water and still not even half gtr $

@junkymuscle I have not heard of them, but a stock corvette even a z06 cannot keep up with a gtr on a track with rights and left turns. Corvette does not focus on handling compared to the gtr. Yes you can add the right parts to a vette but with factory settings i say no. Zr1 is a different story

Look for the video titled "Godzilla Battles Super Snake". The 2010 Shelby SS gets embarassed by the Skyline. This should end the debate. An old Cobra may get past a stock GT-R by using a few mods. But, it's still an '03 Cobra - useful only in a straight line, with a plastic interior, and zero respect amongst in supercar crowd. The GT-R, on the other hand, is a driver's machine - devouring 911 GT3s, Z06s, and Ferraris.

I used to love running my old RX-7 against Vipers & 996 Turbos because no one knew I had a 700hp beast under my hood. However, I'd drop the keys to my old RX-7, my old S2000, my old IS350, and my current RS 4 in a heartbeat to trade up to one of those bad boys. Anyone can put a rocket in a tin can and beat a GT-R. But, few would want that.

@Drive3424 ok dude that r35 was not stock. if you look at the dyno graph the hp and torque lines for the whp are at the same level. so of course the r35 would win, plus they even mentioned it had sticky tires so that probably means it had slicks which help a ton, and you cant say that any 412whp car can beat a 600+whp car even if it had awd, the SS is lighter and makes more power at the wheels, it is power to weight ration is what wins and the SS has the advantage there so fuck all imports

Ok well then if its the stock supercharger and it is 7 years old and it just put out enough power to beat a gtr then its about to break. A gtr does 0-60 in 3.5 secs and has a top speed of 200+ mph. That mustang stock is 4.5 secs to 60 and so lets not try and say that it is too stock if it just beat a gtr. Just because nissan makes it and it is a v6 doesn't make it any less of a car than a mustang, Infact in reality the gtr is everything the mustang wishes it was.

I'd love the chance to hand my keys over to a pro and let him race my car against a GTR on a circuit, because at my circuit, nobody pushes 100%. Point is, with all my mods, my car may outperform a GTR on a circuit, & it comes in well below the cost of a GTR.

Of course anything can be fast but I usually gauge my cars on how expensive it is to modify, reliable and streetable the car is after you modify it. If you consider those things the 03/04 Cobra is one of the best bang for the buck and best cars on the street even 7 years after its introduction! Who really wants a gutted POS Civic that needs to be repaired all of the time.

And youre right, mustang doesnt have a time on the nurburgring becaue it cant compete lol..the z06 (NOT a supercar) and ZR1, supercar are on there also.
Ill put it to you this way, for HIGHER end cars, the gtr, is the way to go. Stock its a beast--modify it and youve got godzilla.
But again, modifying throws everything out of the water.
Funny as how you never acknowledged doing this race from a dig or modifying the gtr...hmmm...

@Mattixxg they do run the cars from a dig, and of course with awd its gonna jump, but the cobra reeled it back...and higher end cars? that would be a vette hands down...and o sorry i forgot to mention...how come the cobra's never grenaded their trannys? i mean if the fuckin GTR is soooo awesome, why does it get its warranty voided when you race it? you would think a company backs their car if it is sooooo good?

Not being a bitch but dont come on here and act like its an accomplishment that a modified car (hell you can get a damn civic to run 9s in the quarter) beat a stock one lol. Plus...stock mustangs rank NO WHERE on the nurburgring times. Look it up. You have vipers, vettes, lambos etc...mustangs are no where to be found..
All i have to say is, lets modify the GTR, run it from a DIG and see what the results are.

@Mattixxg lol modified, you act like its fully built and runs 8's...shit put a smaller pully on this car and tune it and the gtr will still lose...and sorry to say but the gtr is a driving tool, it is all computer assisted and i dont like cars that make everyone look like good drivers, not to mention its an auto which takes a LOT of skill to drive right?

Dude..the GTR stock is 480 hp..that mustang is at LEAST modified to 480 500 to do that. Put a p800 in the GTR and the mustang will get raped. Thats why its dumb to think youve accomplished something when yovue beaten a STOCK car...lol

@Mattixxg my point is an older 2003 30k car is beating a newer 2009 80k car. so you're saying a stock 30k car vs a stock 80k car is fair then? if anything it's still unfair for the cobra because even if it is modified it still doesn't add up to near 80k at all, the cobra is more car for the money

So..its really a moot point. Thats why people call for stock to stock.
A stock 2k3 mustang needs HANDICAPS..aka MODIFICATIONS to keep up with the 80k car.
Hell, you can make a HONDA CIVIC run 9s...strip it, roll cage HUGE turbo...but you have to do all of that JUST to beat a car that can outperform a 160k porsche 911 turbo.

A stock z06 beats the gtr and pretty much all other current japanese supercars if you wanna call them that. And thats 130ish hp less than the zr1. Currently the zr1 is in a class of its own. And nobody will make a car that can beat it and at the same time be cheaper. And about modding the gtr, any of you have any idea how expensive it is to mod the new gtr? Ha, you could buy an 03 cobra for the price of a complete exhaust and big-brake upgrade on the gtr.

@Fatality599 It'll only break down the same year that its brand new if the driver is an idiot. Saying that is a lot like how people rip on the opti-spark on the LT1's yet my LT1 is still running the original at 131k miles. Not to say that corvettes are the greatest car in the world, but thats sort of a bias opinion you have there. If you take care of something it'll take care of you. A corvette will last just as long as a GTR or cobra with the same driver.
