Power metal is my favorite,but I don't think the band's he chose were very heavy vocal wise I mean what about the newer Tad morose,Sabaton,Bloodbound,Dark at dawn,Solar fragment,Pertness,Iced earth with Matt barlow,Nightmare,Kiauss,The new Edge of thorn's,Blind guardian,Morgana lefay,Freternia ext.So I just thought I'd throw those out there...
It seems to me that most power metal nowadays is actually just progressive fantasy metal; power metal lyrics, but not power metal music. Also, they tend to overuse keyboards and the singers sound the same. I like real power metal, where I can tell songs and singers apart, i.e. Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Jag Panzer, Sabaton, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Manowar, etc. I must say though, I was impressed by how not-gay these bands sound compared to many other falsesly labeled "power" metal bands.
Dude, I agree with you. Not that much in fantasy metal myself... Have you ever listened to Pyramaze ? True power metal all the way. Their debut album is the best album I ever heard. And take my word for it : I have listened to thousands of albums...
have you herd of heavens gate? their album livin in hysteria is really good, so is their others, but they dont use keyboards at all and consider themselves heavy metal, but they are inspired by judas priest and helloween
I think I have heard of Heaven's Gate; the name rings a bell, at least. In any case, I have never heard any of their material, but I will have to look into them. Thanks for the heads-up!

@KingRadbadical1988 I get it now. I wasn't using the term "gay" as an insult, at least not in that sense. I was referring to the fact that way too many power metal singers sound like they are wearing painfully tight pants, and that only a few have been able to translate masculinity into high-pitched screams.
Well yeah its not easy to make a high-pitched "manly" scream. But it can be done. All you need for proof of this is the song Snake Corpse by Anthelion.

@KirHARESETHgoesto11 You might find DivineFire, Sinbreed, Hibria, Theocracy, Seventh Avenue, Majestic Vanguard, Skylark, and other bands like that interesting. DivineFire and Theocracy are personal favorites of mine.

Yeah, my brother actually got into Pyramaze a while ago. I haven't heard much of their stuff, but I certainly have been meaning to rectify that.

You do that ! And if you check 'em out, make sure you get their debut album : 'Melancholy Beast'.
Their second and third album are very good as well, but 'Melancholy Beast' really stands out.
Play the album a few times in a row and you'll be a Pyramaze addict till death ! Just like myself... hahahaha !
