  • great video thanks

  • Brother EverythingZen14, what you have said is totally true, and our Orthodox Church is the only Church hat can trace its Patriarchs back to 33 A.D from the Pentecost, when the apostles where Patriarchs

  • 3:24, who is in the picture? Fr. Sophrony from Essex Monastery, UK? Thank you

  • Rome looks more secular & bureaucratic, Orthodoxy looks more... spiritual, imho. It's even seen in priests, monks' fashion.

  • thank you for father Cleopa

  • Jesus is ortodox

  • Be a father to Orphans, and be like a husband to their mother; you will then be like a son of the Most High, and he will love you more than does your mother.

  • Can monks have visitors? Like relatives and such?

  • Это русская песня...

  • <-------i am catholic all respect to all my chrsitian brother, i learned that if it was chosen to you to become a monk you will be addressed by either a dream or a vision, its not like college, Jesus choses us as students.

hwoever i would never have the owner to be selected as a monk, but all my prayes with these great warrior who are defeating hell itself!!

    God be with you brothers.

  • @GoodyearBandit honor***

  • Don,t forget the Georgian monks.

  • BELO VIDEO !!!!!!

  • Please do not mention who was first to be Orthodox Christian, it does not matter. What matters is that we all follow true faith and when I enter our church I feel Holly Spirit in every cell of my body. I did not feel that in any of the churches that split up from One Holly Apostolic Orthodox Church. The best thing about our liturgy is that you can understand it no matter what language it is served in. Serbian, Greek, Russian, American etc .. are just geographical terms.

  • @SerbNegroMonte agreed! I used to hunt for the path to God and went to Catholic, protestant, baptist churches but never found the feeling of the holy spirit and spiritual warmth in their churches! I then went to a Orthodox church and found what I was looking for

  • what is the translation of the chanting? and what language is it?

  • When I see that and read the description I sometimes wonder if I haven't missed my vocation....

  • May God bless these Christian men who have given up the world's "blessings" to pursue something (and Someone) eternal. How quickly our years go by. Let's not think that youth, beauty, money, fame, popularity, etc will satisfy us. The soul is far more precious! May Jesus Christ our risen Savior be real, and a real encouragement for all of us!

  • Thank you for this wonderful tribute to these holy men, Jardelle. While I cannot join a monastary, I have a deep admiration for the courage of those who are able to harken to God's call. I have been struggling with depression and your video lifted my spirit. May God bless my fellow Christians in the Orthodox Church throughout the world.

-From a grateful American Roman Catholic

  • They are little saints on Earth. One wonders how many times their prayers and holiness have held back the Lords hand.

  • So many pictures of Cleopa, one of our blessed priests and monks of Romania.

    Nice vid.

  • He who is estranged seeks pretexts to break out against all sound judgment.

    Proverbs 18:1 RSV

  • @BACKTOGOLD

Greece and Greek languadge is the mother of Orthodoxy...

  • @EllinonEnosis Umm.. Orthodoxy started in the Coptic Orthodox Church... St Mark was the first patriarch of Egypt, bringing Christianity to the nation. The first Church ever was St Marks house (where passover occurred) and hence the first church - Coptic Orthodox church.

  • If i had another chance in life...i would go at the age of 18 to become a monk in Mount Athos in Greece... Orthodoxy or Death

  • @EllinonEnosis If one believes in God, then there is no chance.

  • Doxa si o theos!

    Glory be to god!

Who is chanting this beautiful hymn?

  • Jardelle, sis where are you? Anti fii Sham ? Ataqid annak fii lubnan wallahi ma adri...? Ana fii Landan...and I guess you are a Lebanese Christian. I would like to know how you see your Arab identity in relation to the Orthodox tradition.

  • This is what i'm becoming when I grow older, I will live my life for god..... It's worth it because in the after life you will live a good one.

    God bless the orthodox church!

  • Great video Jardelle from your Orthodox Brother in Christ: Guess who?

  • wonderful video! this is inspiring, as I have been considering monasticism myself for a while. God Bless Orthodoxy!

  • Great video Jardelle, Orthodox Rocks!!!

  • My deepest respect

  • hahah these dudes are stupid...they waste their life not doing anything and not changing the world....and then they die and not go to heaven or hell...cause it doesnt exists...what a bunch of pussies...live your live bitches

  • Well they are living their lives mate, the way they want to. Nobody forced them into anything.

i think youve got no respect and that will Hit you smack in the face some day.

  • @Zlaja16 stupid to u because they are serbs-you balijo!

  • @Zlaja16 ur the one thats stupid wasting ur life doing bad things and since u were born yesterday how do u know that heaven do not exsist...let me tell u something I've seen a devil with my own eyes and i witnessed miracles so people like u dont really know anything about life and are tryna do whatever they want cuz people like u r actually scared of death.

  • God bless the Holy Orthodox Church!

  • Very beautiful. Thank you. Their voices bring tears to my eyes.

  • The most of them are from Romania. The old one from 1.03 to 1.26 ... is father Cleopa Ilie from Sihastria Monastery ( Romania, Neamt county )

  • хорошо!

  • Egypt russia greece armenia syria all orthodox.

  • Don't forget Serbia among them!

  • orthodoxy is orthodoxy , neither Russian nor anything else

  • God bless all Orthodox country' ! from Romania

  • What type of Orthodoxy is this? Russian?

  • its russian

  • @Beshoi137Beshay Maybe what language. Orthodoxy is universal. The Church in Serbia = the Chruch in Bulgaria=Romania=Russia=Georgia=Ukraine=Greece=Macedonia=Bosnia&herzegovine=Moldova(=Romania)=Belarus=Armenia=Ethiopia= many many many orther countries... kazachstan... manny other tens of millions around the globe... All have the same dogma. =In communion

  • 2- i forgot the Shield. a very effective weapon in itself. a sparring partner would drop a lot of sweat dodging that thing! and, of course, you would have to avoid his! a good work out for all.

  • we should ALL be married to the Bridegroom/Christ....these monastics teach and pray for that very union !

  • In them lives the wisdom of love and the way to divinity. Old, with aching bones and bony hands they speak straight to your heart and there is a glitter in their eyes that no man can ever forget. Tully they are the essence of orthodoxy.

  • Russian blood, Greek blood serbian, syrian, romanian, english french and african, the only blood that truly matters is that of Christ's. Christian Orthodoxy is for everyone.

  • Nickbully: Thank you for this post.

  • Thank you so much for this, as a convert I learn this lesson the hard way.

One new body in Christ, as it should be.

  • SERBIA,RUSSIA,GREECE,ROMANIA-Orthodox unity! NO to ecumenism and West!

    Amin!

    CCCC

  • There's corruption in the West and East, brother. In the West, it is secularism. In the East, it is ethnic pride and nationalism. NO to the 'World', to the passions! We must be other-worldly, no matter where we are.

  • In East, orthodox church there was no such thing as Crussaders, inquisition or blessing on killers.

Nationalism=patriotism(same roots-natio in latin,patria-the same). We are protecting the purity of our faith, there can never be union with Roman-catholic or other church.

  • What about the persecution of the Catacomb Church in Russia, and then the killing of the Old Believers? No, my friend, there is corruption in the East, despite the Church's presence there. Your faith is not your ethnicity. There is neither Jew nor Greek, Male nor Female, in the Kingdom of Heaven. However, I never said anything about joining with the heretical 'churches'. I dont know what in the world set you on that topic. I, as you, am against ecumenism at the expense of Apostolic dogma.

  • To clarify, I do believe that the Orthodox Church has preserved the True Faith, and that the other, so called 'churches' cannot be trusted. I have no qualms with that. I am not promoting unity with Western churches, that is just nonsense. Now, if Rome wanted to repent of her ways and accept all 7 Councils and renounce her heretical teachings and practices, then there can be union. But, under no other circumstances can this happen with any religious group of any kind, Christian or otherwise.

  • I hope you are aware that there is a growing Orthodox minority in the West that is receiving converts. This is why I cringe at defining certain ethnicities as Orthodox (as if being born Greek could save you). It is this very attitude that keeps the Orthodox Church divided in the US, and it is a very real, but unnecessary, hindrance that often bars people from accepting the faith. It is an anti-witness. This sense of ethnic superiority is straight from Hell and is a terribly wicked thing!

  • @Patriotis1 and Bulgaria!

  • @Patriotis1 and Bulgaria! The alphabet of the religious books is created by two bulgarina saints- St Kliment So we are the first to rewrite the religious books in language more approachable to the people and so we`ve made the religion more accessible :) Gog bless all!

  • @Patriotis1 Georgia As well, We are 90% orthodox in Georgia.... thnx for the Video

  • @Patriotis1 You don't wish the West to be saved? Then you are not Orthodox. For Orthodox Christians love their friends and enemies and wish for all to be saved.

  • @CrossBlaise

Excuse me? Where did I say that? I just mentioned I didn't agree over the evil called ecumenism which tends to change the dogmas of Orthodox Church.

  • @Patriotis1 Yes, that ecumenism is false and not good. What we should be doing is try and bring the apostates back to the true faith.

  • Thank you for this blessing video and thanks to the Monks that they pray in the name of all people in the world. Let God help us all Amine. This is so glory and blessed by the God!

  • HRISTOS AMID US!

1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

    Psalm 1. ( fragment ).

    Just to say Hallo!

    Slobodan.

  • very beautiful video!

  • What about Macedonia she is Orthodox to... Why you are not mentioning Macedonia Olerus?

  • no macedonia, bulgaria, monte negro are not orthodox...they are just an orthodox sect now because they support catholics and when u support catholics u support ekumenizam when u support ekumenism u support the antichrist

  • yes,but it's something symbolic

  • @letthemxeatcake No, monks are married to Church.

  • @letthemxeatcake its the soul that marries christ because without communion with him, the soul cannot live,

therefore after the disobedience in paradise came the spiritual death.

  • greece,romania,russia,bulgaria,etiopians,georgians.....many others brothers in cross and spirit..may be togheter forever and love unite us how long Earth wil be..till of the Jesus second coming, may all christians unite and remain togheter till the end

  • Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this video! :)

  • very beautiful...

  • Yes, you are indeed.

That is only besause you see his look but you dont see his soul.

    God bless you

  • Amazing video! Thank you!

  • father Cleopa :X

  • beautiful...

i recognise some of the monks... from monastery Visoki Decani and from Chilandariou... it is a nice mix of all orthodox nations

    God bless you

  • the music sounds so haunting and cold.seems like such a sad and desolate life.i mean this in no negative terms.just trying to get it.

  • The closer one draws near to Christ, the more visible their sins become, as their shadows are cast so close to the Light. God indeed visits His monks with holiness, light, peace, and radiance, but this grace is often achieved through difficult ascetic labors and great humility, through bearing their own cross and following Christ daily. In short, it can be difficult at times, but God honors and blesses those who follow in the footsteps of the Son.

  • sounds like greek orthodox music... they play this at my church! (i dont speak greek to understand, i just go to church!)

  • to zuniga6412:

your observations are not 'negative', in a way your observations are accurate from a worldly point of view. the life of a monastic is not for everyone, it is, after all, a special 'calling' (or vocation as they call it in the west). monks are "dead to the world", that is the monastic definition. this is why they wear black, it is a reminder that their life is no longer in the world. they are considered "earthly angels".

  • Hvala ti za ove reci..., a monasima hvala za njihove '' molitve i suze za ceo svet ''

    Andjeli s tobom

    Slava Gospodu i Presvetoj Bogorodici

  • @metta108 wow, that's beautiful

  • whom should i contact to be come a Christian monk? pls help i am serious.

  • go to a monastery

  • Posting such a question here suggests, if you are serious, that you are not fully involved in the life of the Church. This must be your first priority, then speak to your priest.

  • if your really serious, i would recommend you to take a trip to florence arizona. st anthony's monastery. greek orthodox monastery and absolutely amazing... speak with the monks there and learn how to become a true worshiper of god.

  • @crisischristy think about it deeply before u are becoming to an monk. It will change your life totaly. And i hope that you have already strated by praying and doings posts(not eating any meat, milk products) and not eating pork meat in usual days. This is what u should go throw few years is you want to be truly Russian/ Greek Orthodox. Start your life by making this and then see if you realy can live this life. God bless you.

  • @crisischristy really ? .. it's not that simple.. I'd love to , I am greek and I've been to athos many times, thanks god, I think you should better read more about their lifes.. their fights are really difficult, thir lifes too.. search please .. I think the best you've got to do is come here.. to athos, if not able, try to find an orthodox priest around you.

orthodox and monachism , is nothing like catholic priests' life. it's something different, away from money and mind. a fight with demons

  • @crisischristy talk to an orthodox christian priest then go to a monastery talk to abbout then spend some time there and see if ur capable of sacrifising ur life in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ just like saints and martyrs....

  • @crisischristy You can find Yeshua right in your room. Be wise, and seek him with all of your heart.

  • @Powernlove Indeed you can. But you can also seclude yourself from the wolrd and give all of your heart to Yeshua.

  • @crisischristy It depends form where are you. But you can always find an orthodox church and ask the priest there

  • ++++++++++++++++++++++

  • Beautiful+++++++++++++

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Long live orthodoxy!!!God bless the monks for praying for us!!!God bless all orthodox"s around the world!!!

  • AH! beloved and wondrous Orthodox monastics!

  • Why is mohammed and allah in the tags?

  • With my deepest admiration i watch those pics. Greetings to all the Orthodox people from their serbian brother

  • god bless you (from a romanian sister)

  • romanian song, and most of the monks are romanian, si da asa este, pentru calugarii ortodocsi lumea inca mai exista!

  • Selam from Ethiopian orthodox people.

Thanks to God who help us to know him through the orthodox church. Our fathers were and are very devoted for blessing God and strict to thier faith.

  • hello my brother.i love the ethiopian christian. You are really blessed to be christian.

  • @jardelle I visited your site. It appears, sister, very worldly; dancing, singing, and with you, I believe, shaking a very appealing booty. Can such life-style choices be reconciled with the austere piety of Orthodox Christianity? Just curious, and I respect you for this insightful collage of pictures. Love.

  • @MrJami123 i am not a nun,i am just a normal christian but i love, respect and promote the real christians because they represent the real christianity. Jesus said if you want to enter paradise you have to respect the 10 commandaments so this is what i am trying to do...He did not said don't dance or sing.God looks inside us,not outside.

  • @jardelle Your point, though general, partly evasive, defensive yet lively, is well recieved. The Commandments do not support sensuality.I think, from a worldy view, shorts suit you. But you know on Mount Athos a women is not welcomed and a sister in sexy shorts would fall on that other Commandment concerning stoning. I respect you and love you, even if you are not a Nun!

  • Greetings Respect and love from Greece to Ethiopian orthodox People. Ο ΘΕΟΣ ΜΑΖΙ ΣΑΣ!

  • Thanks Orthodox people

  • God bless my Ethiopian brothers and sisters as well from Russia.

  • Giovanitsa! with the Serbian priest from Hilandar.

  • Some say that it is through the prayers of those orthodox monks (coptic, greek, ...) that the world is still standing...

I truly love orthodoxy and feel so blessed that I was born coptic orthodox... May God bless you all my orthodox brothers and sisters.

  • Christian orthodoxy is the one that understood, kept and lived the holy word of God as the apostles understood, kept and lived it without adding arficiality or distortion to this meaning. But watching this we should think very well if we are worthy of the name of christians.

  • If one would take the time and study the Great Fathers, one would find that christian orthodoxy is complete,it lacks nothing.

  • Orthodoxy is most beautiful PUREST RELIGION

  • mari sfinti contemporani.........

  • Very inspiring video. thank you.

  • Thank you for creating this video...I love it...May God have Mercy on us...Most Holy Theotokos Save us...

  • calo paska everyone!! heading to church now!

  • monks are sign to the world,

  • Hallo

    This are realy saints

I meet them in Agion Oros

  • I have go to Agion oros and meet realy

    saints

    you can feel this

  • some monks become saint like gerontas paisios his a pure saint

  • hello i didnt say anything about living in the world or not ok? and also i dont want your opinion i'll stick with my own cause i probably know more then you cause my 3 uncles are monks in cyprus and 4 of my dads couzins so yh!

  • Why must it be only one or the other? Both lives are holy ones, the life in the world as a worker with a family, or a life in the desert/ monastic dwelling. Whatever God calls you to do, you must obey His will- this is the life of a saint; one who obeys the will of God and takes up his cross and follows Jesus with his whole heart. This can happen in the middle of downtown Athens, or in a desert cave.

  • COuldn't agree more. It just irritates me to see habits from the far east like monasticism passing off as Christian.

  • Sarissaki,If you agree with what MarthaRRLeBlanc said, why are you still irritated by monasticism???

  • I agree that every one should follow God in their own way, and that's all. I just want people to know that monasticism is not a christian custom. I am trying to make a distinction between what is the will of God, and what we are told is the will of God.

  • If you were to educate yourself, you will find that monasticism is the core-the center core of the Greek Orthodox church...

or you can go and study scientology..

  • Scientology is not religion. And monasticism maybe the core of the Orthodox church, but it is not part of Christianity, and it is contrary to the nature of a Greek. My point is seek God but do not take tradition for granted because it has been made so..it doesn't mean it's right.

  • Comment removed

  • haha this is not catholic my buddy this is greek orthodox faith

  • Hey dummy, the Orthodox church IS the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH.

  • It is not only greek orthodox. I can recognize russian churches and monks, serbian and even romanian (elder Cleopa).

I am not sure about music if it is in greek but it is byzantine kind of singing. From Byzantine is usully in greek.

    God bless you all!

  • it irratate me that people from america passe themselfs as christians

  • AMEN

  • You need to educate yourself--really deeply enough before your secular thoughts cause serious damage to amateurs.

You think monasticism is easy that any idiot can do it..

have a try at constabnt prayer for 1 hour and tell me how easy it is..then try it for a whole day. Pray withotu ceasing-does that ring a bell..if you know any Gospel..it should.

Monasticism is the CORE of the Orthodox faith..plain and simple. Anyone that disagrees-disagrees with the word of Christ.

  • it's alot harder than that coptic orthodx moks only slept like 4hours a day they work all day to support the monastary then they pary for about 10 hours,/ and the extrem one go live in the desert and drik barely anything and go days without food.but yet they are happy because thier love for god overcomes all!

  • nice

  • just greate

  • Imi place foarte mult filmuletul. Doamne ajuta!

  • Beautiful!..i love the deepness and richness of our Orthodoxy
