welcome to the world.
besides nuclear weapons, there is capitalism and pedophilia and poverty. its not the only bad thing.. its just part of the whole problem. the human condition.
there isnt any such thing as 'peace'. throughout the ages, humans could never coexist. tribes/settlements would always challenge each other, even in the very beginning of the upright homo. human nature was always the same.. it was just the weaponry that changed. nuclear weapons are just the modern sort of weapon. NOTHING could change human nature. i find it a crime against everything, nuclear warfare. -c-
we just got out of our caves few houndred years ago tbh, and we just started to prosper... than drugs came in.. than profit came in.. feels like a rape that habbend 10 years ago..
on iceland, we wure nothing but native litle earth bound creatures trying to survive and help ech other build our shelters and aprichateing anything the land had to offer.. and in the meanwhiel, our worst fears habben over the sea.. thees nuclear explotions.. reactor explotions.. radiation.. man made horror we wouldnt had dreamed of.. for the lousyest reasons. if you wanna kill a man, at leest do it with dignity. and look into hes face.
I think it's appropriate how African people were showed primarily because they would be the first victims if anything like this happened. Research has shown that even a tiny war between India or Pakistan with 100 small atom bombs on cities would cause enough smoke to lower temperatures enough to cause mass starvation of the bottom billion poorest people. There could be a nuclear war between Britian and France and 90+% of the people that would die wouldn't even be in those countries.
war is not good.. we have a chance to live together with peace...nature finds its way its true but this does not mean that nations should attack each other.. may peace be upon us...
I dont think there is anything we can do to destroy the world it will regenerate itself like it always does... destroying ourselves is another matter though...i think the phrase "The best defense is a good offense" needs a bit of refining but, anyway.
"Why is it necessary to kill other people whether they're innocent or not?" They dont go out to kill innocent people. Guilty/not i dont think they should go out to kill anyone. Their first act of aggression/fear "We dont talk to terrorists".
It´s a shame - it´s a pity - it´s inevitable. The universe (of which we are just a minute part) is evolving according to it´s own method. And NOBODY (not even God) knows the outcome. So why don´t we just enjoy what we have while we have it and each person act according to their principles.

@CamerOneiric I don't know how old you are, but you should join the military for a contract. Don't join the airforce or the navy, if you want to understand what I'm saying, then join the army or marines. You seem smart, you aren't arguing like a nitwit, so that is why I suggest joining the military to you. If you want to know what I mean, then see it for yourself.
I apologize for coming off like a bigot. I just loathe violence, whether justified or not. I have considered joining the military, not from any political conviction, but to understand the degrading areas of the world in a better way.

you're SICK, closed-minded and very dumb if you think war is art, I can't help but crying about this 'cause it's so disappointing after the two very brutal world wars ...
I'm from Germany and although I'm far too young (16) to be part of this nightmare I can see the emotions on the contamporary witnesses's faces when they talk about their living and dieing in the concentration camps or battle fields
Yes, I´m abel to FEEL something 'cause I'm a human being, but you ?
@CDBigShow Ok then. I'll go on believing killing innocent people is wrong. I mean obviously I'm wrong because you say so, but I rather like my opinion better.
well ya, killing innocents is wrong, in war its called genocide, with nuclear war that's mass genocide. A nation should never have its military target civilians, no matter what flag they stand under, but when civilians pick up weapons, they are no longer civilians. I really suggest you join the military, see for yourself and you will learn.
its like if I said I don't like soccer, but never played soccer. I can't really know what I don't like unless I signed on for a contract.
You can do a small contract in the reserves, you will live near family and just one weekend a month you go to the base near your home. Just go talk to a USMC recruiter. There are different contracts that you can do of different periods. You won't turn into a robot, I have lots of friends in boot camp who were mormon and I am still close friends with them.
I'am from America... And I pity America as a Nation of people.. It's not just America but it's the whole world.. The fact that every human will die to protect their little precious possessions.. And not noticing that when our day do come.. There is nothing we can do about it.. Bcuz we will be the one's to destroy it our self by selfishness..
Just so you know not all americans are like that :p i'm american and i believe we should all live in peace and harmony but with some of the people on this planet its not possible...
I think that this video was a good idea. Of course, this subject touches us all, anywhere we can be in the whole damn world.
What makes me think the vid wasn't that well made is that the message isn't so clear. Was there something else behind all this than only a protest to mass destruction weapons ? There is alot of beautiful images, with the intense part of the song synchronized with the explosions, but if this is everything... the film ain't that genious.
This is definitely one of my favourite song of sigur Ros..The atmosphere is so cold but at the same time just beautiful..They are pure genious, their songs guided my through years now, and I still love every single second of their songs..!
This also might interest some of you who like this kind of music...I found a band on youtube some days ago..It's called "Nyctalgia".
ALl of you should listen to their song "Falling into nothingness".
Even without Nuclear weapons we're destroying the world. Cutting down forests and jungles, putting up dams and factories, harvesting nature to run the parasite that is humanity. I wish we would stop expanding right now, before every square mile is destroyed and conquered by damaging civilization. There are only a handful of places "untouched-by-man." Soon there will be none. Not saying Nuclear fallout is unimportant, just that there are equally destructive forces that shouldn't be disregarded.
i think people only respect the enviorment when their needs are met first. this is an issue on everyones minds, however no one takes responsibility or the action to do something about it. its a " its not MY fault"
I find animals slowly being pushed out of existence so we can have our goods and spoils much crueler than an instant planet-wide wipeout. We're very slowly killing the planet little by little. If something isn't done soon, our world could turn into the same barren, post-apocalyptic desert we fear will come from nuclear fallout. It's like a quick painless death as opposed to a long and excruciating drawn out one. The prospect of nuclear war is only threatening because it affects us immediately.
Great documentary. If you haven't seen it I would recommend you watch it. It's one of those movies I think every person should see. It really opens the eyes to the horrors of nuclear fallout.
the beauty of this world is threatened by the horridness destruction of people who are unable to see the truth of things, the beauty of life ..... so sad
some of we human animals see various destructive actions as beautiful and true to them - they romanticize war, the competition of the human spirit in this folly of dueling wills and technology, and the resulting death and destruction ---- i know i have fallen under this siren song call to arms at times... just look at my avatar
certainly the valuing of beauty we can hope supersedes some of these animal instincts that lead us to us/them (other) mentalities and territorial acquisitive attempts
maybe u were or u werent lazy, who we are to judge u, thats the real world, and u make something to show us the world as u see it. I think u did a good job, and yes instead to criticize, maybe we should take the video as a call, i know there is a lot of video like this on utube, but maybe we should stop just to see it as another video and take the action, even just a virtual volunteer, thats better than do nothing.

Stealing segments of Heima and using 'found' clips of nuclear explosions, then fitting it to the louder parts of someone else's song is not good work. It's obvious, cliched and lazy. It's only hard hitting because of the dramatic music, which is effective on it's own.
we say this as we holding the weapons.. but we do not hold them it is they.. those in power in the governemtns and militaries of the world that hold our fates. we are just the helpless
No war in the world...if only a man understands that this wonderful world in the lonely black space is his home...sweet home...great vid congratulations
Just imagine what all the US and the Russia destroyed with each nuclear test they conducted. The US alone held over 300 tests. Many of the once thriving islands we tested one are now nothing but radioactive sand.
Really? if all countries would have nuclear weapons.. all we need is terrorists randomly attacking and plunder all kinds of warehouses.. then what? boom.. bye bye.
That idea is one of about three major theories (key word: theories) about international relationships, and is simply one way of describing how power might be balanced globally. Most believe that the best offense is in fact NOT the best defense in the international sector.
Tis likely in Hopelandic. A language Sigur Ros uses that doesn't have any meaning. You're suppose to extract your own meaning. Abstract Lyrics I guess?

You can do a small contract in the reserves, you will live near family and just one weekend a month you go to the base near your home. Just go talk to a USMC recruiter. There are different contracts that you can do of different periods. You won't turn into a robot, I have lots of friends in boot camp who were mormon and I am still close friends with them.

ARE YOU AFRAID OF SOMETHING?
I really don't want to offend you but as I'm from Europe I can't understand the Americans at all...
I mean such quotes like 'be proud of your nation', 'defend your nation against the terror etc.'
Why is it necessary to kill other people whether they're innocent or not?
Is it just my childish naivety to hope all humens could life together without war?
( No I'm not a 'flower child', I just love my life and I respect other's)
Sigur Ros is LOVE and PEACE forever

I'am from America... And I pity America as a Nation of people.. It's not just America but it's the whole world.. The fact that every human will die to protect their little precious possessions.. And not noticing that when our day do come.. There is nothing we can do about it.. Bcuz we will be the one's to destroy it our self by selfishness..
REPENT NOW.... REPENT FOREVER
SIGUR ROS NOW... SIGUR ROS FOREVER
LOVE NOW... LOVE FOREVER

@punkymaus please don't stereotype Americans. we're not all like that.

Just so you know not all americans are like that :p i'm american and i believe we should all live in peace and harmony but with some of the people on this planet its not possible...

There is tons of money to be made in war. If there was no profit in wars, wars wouldn't exist.

Amazing newcomer, that deserves more attention..

What exactly is the point in Nuclear weapons, if not to end the entire world?
draythenaras 2 years ago
Even without Nuclear weapons we're destroying the world. Cutting down forests and jungles, putting up dams and factories, harvesting nature to run the parasite that is humanity. I wish we would stop expanding right now, before every square mile is destroyed and conquered by damaging civilization. There are only a handful of places "untouched-by-man." Soon there will be none. Not saying Nuclear fallout is unimportant, just that there are equally destructive forces that shouldn't be disregarded.
Glutymax 2 years ago 2
And I totally agree with you. It's really a shame that we, mankind, have no respect for our home planet...
Cheers.

i think people only respect the enviorment when their needs are met first. this is an issue on everyones minds, however no one takes responsibility or the action to do something about it. its a " its not MY fault"

i find a nuclear apocalypse a much darker future than one in which we've ruined our own environment.
cappisman 2 years ago
I find animals slowly being pushed out of existence so we can have our goods and spoils much crueler than an instant planet-wide wipeout. We're very slowly killing the planet little by little. If something isn't done soon, our world could turn into the same barren, post-apocalyptic desert we fear will come from nuclear fallout. It's like a quick painless death as opposed to a long and excruciating drawn out one. The prospect of nuclear war is only threatening because it affects us immediately.

Great documentary. If you haven't seen it I would recommend you watch it. It's one of those movies I think every person should see. It really opens the eyes to the horrors of nuclear fallout.

the beauty of this world is threatened by the horridness destruction of people who are unable to see the truth of things, the beauty of life ..... so sad
tomasql 2 years ago 4
some of we human animals see various destructive actions as beautiful and true to them - they romanticize war, the competition of the human spirit in this folly of dueling wills and technology, and the resulting death and destruction ---- i know i have fallen under this siren song call to arms at times... just look at my avatar
certainly the valuing of beauty we can hope supersedes some of these animal instincts that lead us to us/them (other) mentalities and territorial acquisitive attempts

maybe u were or u werent lazy, who we are to judge u, thats the real world, and u make something to show us the world as u see it. I think u did a good job, and yes instead to criticize, maybe we should take the video as a call, i know there is a lot of video like this on utube, but maybe we should stop just to see it as another video and take the action, even just a virtual volunteer, thats better than do nothing.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Stealing segments of Heima and using 'found' clips of nuclear explosions, then fitting it to the louder parts of someone else's song is not good work. It's obvious, cliched and lazy. It's only hard hitting because of the dramatic music, which is effective on it's own.
mojojojo0 2 years ago
You're right, I was lazy. Maybe I should have filmed my own nuclear tests :P
And by the way, everything used in the video is mentioned at the very end.

Just imagine what all the US and the Russia destroyed with each nuclear test they conducted. The US alone held over 300 tests. Many of the once thriving islands we tested one are now nothing but radioactive sand.

The only way to prevent inevitable MAD > mutually assured destruction is, TO ALOW ALL COUNTRIES TO HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS !!
Impossible to understand, but truth !!
Fear of each others potential would keep all in peace !!
Accessandmanage 2 years ago
Really? if all countries would have nuclear weapons.. all we need is terrorists randomly attacking and plunder all kinds of warehouses.. then what? boom.. bye bye.
paatwo 2 years ago
I imagine it wouldn't be too hard for a psycho terrorist to steal a nuclear weapon and hold the world to ransom.

That idea is one of about three major theories (key word: theories) about international relationships, and is simply one way of describing how power might be balanced globally. Most believe that the best offense is in fact NOT the best defense in the international sector.
And countries* is how its spelled.

This song continually blows me away. I just wish I knew what they were saying.
xOmega9x 2 years ago
Tis likely in Hopelandic. A language Sigur Ros uses that doesn't have any meaning. You're suppose to extract your own meaning. Abstract Lyrics I guess?
