In 1998, I honestly would've chose Windows 98 over Mac. Not that I don't love Mac, but back then Windows was better.

Apple really screwed up shipping it with a crappy Rage Ii+

1998-2002 was in fact a design wasteland for Apple, but now there design is pretty good. I think 2006 was their peak and they've slipped a bit

@adryanv agreed, the top end Mac Pro 8 core which i bought last year shipped with a $300 ATI Radeon HD 5870... at least a dual 5970 or GTX 480? The only point where Apple shipped the best consumer laptops were the iBook's , iBook Clamshell was the 2nd fastest laptop of it's time and iBook "Snow White" was one of the few consumer portables to ship with a discrete GPU , in the G3 was the Radeon 7500 16 MB VRAM , G4 was the Radeon 9200 and in the last revision, the Radeon 9550, both with 32 MB VRAM

Apple seriously needs to get that slap in the face again and go back to these wonderful designs. The new "unibody" aluminum stuff might be sleek, but it's getting old! Apple has had Four distinct design schemes: Beige, colored plastics, white plastics, and aluminum. Which is the best? Colored plastics. Apple really needs to realize that aluminum is getting old! We want these awesome, colorful plastics!

I love my aluminum Mac Mini. But its design will NEVER compare to my iMac G3.

Aluminum is more recyclable so thats why they use it

Plastic is cool but weak(even colored)

Beige is flat-out ugly

White is ok but can be ugly and shows fingerprints

somebody please help me, I want to by an imac g3 for 50 bucks, but its out of date and cant support the new itunes and i need it for my ipod touch, I have a pc but its giving me problems so what should i do, get the imac, or upgrade my pc?

what I would do is get a iMac G4 or perhaps a G5.

If you put osx tiger on the imac itunes will then work.

Plus if you put osx tiger on your emac like I have done, in runs faster than ever!

Nearly as fast as my macbook pro!

I remember when I was in kindergarten at seven pines ES(1999) those mice gave U the cramps and later on they just died so they replaced them with macbooks in 07(and the keyboards SUCK on the g3)

I have one of these beasts. Found Mac OS 8.6 on the web, put it on a CD and installed it. Pity it's not supported. But, after a 256 MB memory upgrade its getting Panther!
